Part of the Racing Into Romance series a well written short story with a very good storyline. This is a new Author to me, I now want to read the rest of this series. Natalie Jones and Brock Taylor’s story and their life on Thoroughbred Racing Stable where she works for him. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Natalie met Brock and his dog Daisy at the park. The attraction was evident the moment they saw one another. The two of them agreed to meet again the next day at the same place. Natalie had trust issues when it came to men. She had a traumatic experience, which led to her not graduating high school. This nightmare had her drifting from place to place. Natalie was new to town and needed a job. It just so happens, she had an interview at a race track walking horses. She was surprised when it was Brock to determine if she got the job.
What do you do when you have been hurt emotionally? How do you cope with the feelings you have for someone, but you work together?
This was a lovely story and had me drawn in from the start. It was also good to see the effort they put in to get over their past hurts.

Natalie meets a nice guy and his dog at the park, and they hope to meet again tomorrow. She’s new in town, and found a place to live, but now she needs a job. When she shows up for an interview, the nice guy from the park hires her. He’s a thoroughbred owner and trainer, and she’s his newest walker. And he has a rule about not getting involved with his employees. This was such a nice book to read, easily my favorite so far in this series. Natalie and Brock have immediate chemistry, but they also have difficult pasts to overcome. She was abused by her stepfather – he was betrayed by his former fiancee. But I love that they both work so hard to figure out this relationship, so much patience with each other.

I was so engaged in this story that was so wonderfully written and the characters were so well defined that I ended up reading this book in one sitting!
This novel about two people with tough pasts gets off to a quick start and keeps the reader turning the page until the end.
As always, I learned a great deal about horse racing from the book, and enjoyed following the relationship between two very real people, as well as the other employees in the racing barn.
I’m really looking forward to Cora Marie Colt’s next book!
