Decades ago, a shotgun wedding locked Edith into a life with a husband she’s not sure she ever loved. Now, at a ‘certain age,’ she feels like a ghost in her own life, wondering where all this came from: the scornful husband, the mercenary brood of grandchildren, the well-meaning but controlling daughter-in-law. Then one Christmas morning Edith wakes to find her husband dead, and the role she … played for so long crumbling.
Soon questions arise about her husband’s death, and papers discovered in his pockets send Edith unraveling secrets of the man she thought she knew. Edith’s son Brian is the focus of her life, but he may not be as perfect as she thought. Revelations that he might be cheating shock her. As Edith investigates the mysteries of her family, she may just find who she truly is.

Four stars. Somewhat tragic, yet ultimately triumphant. Story of a dysfunctional family and how a death is ultimately healing for the survivors.
Good pool read. Predictable but entertaining enough.
This book was great. Story was like reading an every day story of a friend. Loved reading this book. I could put myself in it.
Internet story
Unexpected. Had to keep reading to find out the end. Would highly recommend it.
A great rainy day read that doesn’t require brain work.
I totally enjoyed this book. Had many turn and kept your interest.
Although I figured things out a little early on, I enjoyed the story all the way to the end.
Great read
Sad lives that need not have been — And at the end, Edith’s life was different, but so are her friendships. Would have been a good book for discussion.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Hard to put down.
It was an eye opener like the title says once you are alive it is never too late for anything in Life.
Do not wait until the last moment to embrace life.

Love the story of Art & Edith and the secret she unravels after Arts death. The book was fun and I enjoyed where contents of the things found in pockets of Art’s clothes took Edith and how she followed up on all the clues. The family she found in the pocket findings too…
Interesting, but I didn’t care for the sudden ending, which was to be continued in the next of the series.
No real ending.
AWFUL!
This book was a disappointment. The main character was whiny, and blamed everyone else for the problems in her life. I kept reading hoping it would get better, but it was depressing. The most developed character was the one who died in the beginning.
Fairly entertaining and insightful. Characters were very human. Sometimes I liked them and sometimes I didn’t. Ending tied together a little to smoothly and predictably. Overall a decent read.
A little hard to follow
