#1 New York Times bestseller Lisa Gardner returns with an unpredictable thriller that puts fan favorites D.D. Warren and Flora Dane on a shocking new case that begins with a vicious murder and gets darker from there.A man is dead, shot three times in his home office. But his computer has been shot twelve times, and when the cops arrive, his pregnant wife is holding the gun. D.D. Warren arrives on … the gun.
D.D. Warren arrives on the scene and recognizes the woman–Evie Carter–from a case many years back. Evie’s father was killed in a shooting that was ruled an accident. But for D.D., two coincidental murders is too many.
Flora Dane sees the murder of Conrad Carter on the TV news and immediately knows his face. She remembers a night when she was still a victim–a hostage–and her captor knew this man. Overcome with guilt that she never tracked him down, Flora is now determined to learn the truth of Conrad’s murder.
But D.D. and Flora are about to discover that in this case the truth is a devilishly elusive thing. As layer by layer they peel away the half-truths and outright lies, they wonder: How many secrets can one family have?

I loved seeing DD with Flora AND Kimberly. What a trio of badass ladies. Never Tell is a rollercoaster ride with some great character development and a fantastic ending.
Lisa Gardner is a master at writing suspense!!
Evie Carter walked in to find her husband shot 3 times in his home office, she then picked up the gun and shot the computer 12 times.
That’s her story, when the Boston PD arrives while the gun is still in her hands.
Sergeant Detective D. D. Warren isn’t buying it, she knows Evie, because 16 years ago D.D. investigated Evie’s dad’s death.
Evie confessed, it was an accident and her Mom collaborated her story.
As the new Criminal Investigator for D.D. Warren, Flora Dane’s past is about to resurface.
472 days Flora was held in captivity, now she is about to relive those days of horror, to help find a killer.
How can 2 totally different incidents from 2 different time periods and many States apart have a connection?
I’ll NEVER TELL!
Hold on tight because Lisa Gardner is about to rock your world, Detective style, with her newest book, NEVER TELL!
Lisa Gardner is one of the few authors whose stories I wait for impatiently with bated breath. She builds a world, crushes the world and rebuilds it again. This is not a romance, this is a mystery with emotions, darkness, and humor. The women she writes are complex and tough and often filled with personal tragedy. This is not a happily ever after book, but if you are looking for a great story, that is well written and a page turner? Lisa Garnder is your author.
I’m a HUGE D. D. Warren fan, and when Flora Dane started being a recurring character in these books, that only made things better. If you’ve never read any of Gardner’s D.D. Warren books, do yourself a favor and get your binge on!
Lisa writes great crime fiction and this is one of her best. Loved it.
* Thank you to Netgalley and Dutton Books for my copy of Never Tell, in exchange for an honest review. *
This was my first book by Lisa Gardner and I cant wait to read more. Though I felt it could be read as a stand alone, I now want to go back and read more of the series to find out more about the characters. I really enjoyed the quick wit and pace of the story with a complicated crime that had me guessing and second guessing what I thought. I loved the little glimpses we got into the home lives of D.D, Flora and the then more in-depth life of Evie. I`m really interest to know more about Keith the true crime blogger!
D.D Warren is on another case, but this one she recognizes the suspect from another shooting sixteen years ago! Why did she shot her husband but shoot the computer 12 times? What was on that computer and why did Evie want it hidden. Family secrets and personal ones, who’s telling the truth or only part truths.
Both first-time readers and veteran fans alike will appreciate this gripping new novel in the D.D. Warren series. The fast paced, multi-perspective narrative combined with Gardner’s unique writing style is captivating. In a genre that is often saturated with familiar plot thesis, Lisa Gardner has risen above the fray to produce an original, thought provoking piece of literature. Highly recommended. 5 stars!
WOW! Just WOW! I couldn’t put this down. Written, chapter by chapter, from individual character point of views I wasn’t sure I was going to like this way of writing…but, boy, was I wrong. Lisa Gardner captured me early and wouldn’t let me go with the characters that I loved.
I recently finished this one. I enjoy reading Lisa Gardner’s series. I have read them all so far. Very good plots. She is a great writer.
Never Tell is another solid Lisa Gardner novel, featuring D.D. Warren and Special Agent Kimberly Quincy. This novel also brings back Flora Dane, a survivor of kidnapping. I enjoyed this book, with the snappy writing and smart D.D. Warren, but I felt that I didn’t really understand why the killer was involved with the dark web. He just didn’t seem the type to me. Other than that, I liked the book. I really like Gardner’s way of laying out a story and connecting the dots.
I am sure there is still more to Flora’s story, and hopefully, we will eventually solve the mystery of the missing victims.

this looks like a good book to read.
It starts with a man found shot to death in his home. When the cops arrive, they find his wife holding the gun that killed him. In a bizarre twist of fate, Warren knows the wife. She accidentally killed her father 16 years earlier … shooting him with his rifle.
Flora Dane sees the murder reported on the news and immediately knows who he is ..or was. She remembers the night she met him … she was still a hostage taken by a human monster and held for over a year. Her captor knew this man. And now Flora wants to learn more….
BOOK BLURB: But D.D. and Flora are about to discover that in this case the truth is a devilishly elusive thing. As layer by layer they peel away the half-truths and outright lies, they wonder: How many secrets can one family have?
For fans of this author, you are in for a treat with NEVER TELL. This brings together three of her best loved characters … D. D. Warren, Flora Dane, and Kimberly Quincy.
As always expected from this author, this is a well-written complex crime thriller with twists and turns that keep the reader riveted to each and every page. It’s action-packed with an explosive ending. Each of this author’s books just gets better than the last. I always salivate when I see she has a new book out.
Many thanks to the author / PENGUIN GROUP Dutton / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
What a fantastic, all consuming book!
If you are skeptical about reading Never Tell because it’s the tenth book in the series don’t worry at all. I read it and didn’t realize until about 50% in that it was a part of series and that was only because the characters seemed familiar with each other and it referenced past cases.
Never Tell was an intense mystery that kept me engaged throughout and unable to figure out the killer until all of the characters realized ti as well. I thought I pegged the killer from the beginning, but ho boy was I wrong.
There are so many facets to this book and with it being told from three different points of view really helped with the intrigue and kept things blind to as the same time. I’ve never read a book with chapters ending with hooks like Never Tell, it was like every chapter had a miniature cliffhanger, but then you switched points of view and you are left breathless.
My heart was literally racing throughout this entire story and I was kept on the edge of my seat. If you enjoy mystery series, this a must read series!
it’s a good ole American crime story. There were some funny bits! It was entertaining and somewhat of a page turner, but I don’t think I’ll be following the rest of the series though.
Lisa Gardner is an astonishing talent! I don’t know how she continues to captivate and surprise readers–and still let us in on deep emotional truths. Do not miss this!
