USA TODAY HEA Review says, “Yay, collaboration! Especially when it’s one between Lori Ryan and Kay Manis. … Co-authors Manis and Ryan make a deliciously diabolical team.”He’s desperate to save his family’s lodge. She’s determined to keep her family’s ski resort running. Together, they can make it happen, but collaborating means facing the betrayal of their past. Will the project lead to … but collaborating means facing the betrayal of their past. Will the project lead to heartache or a second chance at love?
Elle Noble knows about losing. The loss of her dance career and her dreams for a family of her own taught her enough about loss to last a lifetime. Still, she has a life she loves working alongside her brothers and father at their family ski resort, a resort she’s set on bringing back from harder times. Tourism in the small Colorado town is down and working with the neighboring lodge is their best bet to turn things around.
But joining forces with the Sumner family lodge means working with Emmett Sumner. He was her best friend, and the man she’s loved for most of her life. Until she foolishly let him go five years ago. Being so close to temptation and the object of her desire is enough to drive her mad. Mad enough to do something she shouldn’t. To hope again. For love, for family, for all of it.
Emmett Sumner refuses to love Elle Noble again. She broke his heart, twice. But when they’re thrown together for work, he finds himself falling all over again until he discovers she hasn’t overcome her need to keep secrets. It proves he was right to keep his distance, but trying to convince his heart to stay away might be a bigger challenge.
Never Say Goodbye is the second book in The Sumner Brothers Series. It can be read as a standalone book. If you love characters that make you laugh, make you cry, and grip you with emotions, you’ll want to read them all. Get to know the sexy Sumner brothers in this emotional, heart-warming series.

Neither one wants to submit to their true feelings . Once the truth comes forward they will need to heal and learn to forgive each other for the past! This story has anger, hurt, devastating news, tears (Kleenex needed) but a love that transcends time!!
Never Say Goodbye: A Canyon Creek Novel (Canyon Creek, CO Book 2) by Lori Ryan and Kay Manis is the story of Elle Noble and Emmett Sumner. They were best friend and Ellewas in love with Emmett but a misunderstanding broke then up. Years later after one magical night together Emmett wakes up with Elle gone and only a note left. Is there times the charm? A emotional story, one with secrets, heartache, loss and learning to deal with that lost so two people who love each other can move on and have the life they both deserve together. I can’t wait to see what Lori and Kay have in store for the rest of the Summer’s brothers.
I loved Never Say Goodbye. Elle and Emmett’s emotional love story was beautifully written. I like that there is so much history between the Sumner and Noble families. Learning about their ancestors and discovering family secrets was interesting.
The banter between Emmett and his brother Max was funny. I can’t wait to read Max & Devlin’s story! And, I hope that Elle’s brother Brody gets his own story too.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
Elle Noble has hurt Emmett Sumner not once but twice and he doesn’t plan to let her do it again. When their families have joined together to work to bring in more business for their resorts in Canyon Creek, Emmett and Elle are thrown together and Emmett isn’t happy about it one bit. Elle has a big secret she has been keeping from Emmett and she is hoping it will change Emmett’s feelings about her and their past.
This is absolutely a hit by these authors. You will definitely shed sad tears and happy tears for the hero and heroine as they find their way back to each other. What Elle has had to go through and the misunderstandings added to that, it will leave you speechless. There is so much chemistry between these two; they are both so strong in their own way with so much love and not sure what to do with it because of their history. This definitely is a page-turner and you won’t be able to put it down until you get to the last page. This story also beautifully includes the extended families of the H&H and they are so supportive and loving with lots of humor thrown in. You will laugh out loud. The story is strong and flowed very nicely all through the book. I thoroughly loved this story.
What a wonderful story! This one touched every one of my heartstrings. Elle and Emmett are characters you can’t help but fall in love with and their story will break your heart then fill you with hope.
Emmett Sumner doesn’t trust Elle Noble. At! All! Once they were best friends, then young loves. Elle walked away from him once to pursue a career as a dancer. That he could understand and forgive. Then five years ago, after one incredible night together she walked away again. No explanation, no reason. Just a text with an “I’m sorry”. Now she’s back in his life again but this time he’s determined not to fall for her again. If his heart would just get the message. Elle knows she hurt Emmett but when she walked away that night five years ago she thought she was protecting him from even more hurt. She wants to tell him the truth she’s just not sure now is the right time.
I highly recommend this one.
What would cause you to leave the one you profess to love, not once but twice? Elle left Emmett the first time over a simple misunderstanding. Her insecurity lead her to misinterpret something she saw & rather than ask questions or confront him, she left early for college & never contacted him again. Several years later, a chance encounter in New York brought them together for one night. Elle left him before he awoke with just a note on the mirror. Now, Elle is back home helping at her family’s resort & has to work closely with Emmett. Will the truth come out? Can they resist each other?
Emmett has loved Elle forever. He has measured every woman he met up with against her. He can’t believe he still has feelings for her. He just can’t trust her. When they are forced to work together, they both realize their feelings have never changed. As they get involved in each other’s lives again, he can tell she is holding something back. Can he live with it or will her secrets destroy them again?
Lori Ryan & Kay Manis have joined together to write a tremendous emotional love story. The characters are strong & well developed. The writing manages to blend together to sound like one voice & wring every ounce of emotion from the reader. The writers manage to draw the reader in from the first with the tragic backstory/breakups. The intense attraction between the main characters comes through in the interactions with each other & the other characters. I really enjoyed this book & hope the authors continue to collaborate on more.
I absolutely loved this book!!
It is a touching, & emotional story.
Elle & Emmett, have always loved each other. Elle see’s something, she wishes she never saw. She flees to New Year, a few month’s early, for college. Leaving Emmett with a broken heart, & without a reason why.
Elle & Emmett, see each other again,
a few year’s later, in New York. In the morning, Elle is gone. Again. Breaking Emmett’s heart beyond repair.
Five year’s later, Emmett & his brothers are
called home, to Canyon Creek,
The Lodge, the family’s business has slowed down. Not a lot of tourists coming to town. Emmett’s Mother asks him to work with Elle.
She works with her family, at the Nobles Resort. Valerie Sumner wants Emmett & Elle, to come up with ideas, to help bring business to town, benefiting both The Lodge & Noble Resort. Emmett refused.
Will Elle finally trust Emmett with her secrets? Can he trust Elle, not to leave him, again? Do Elle & Emmett have a second chance at love?
It is a beautifully written story.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE!!
I absolutely loved this book.
The story centers around Elle Noble and Emmett Sumner. These two were best friends since childhood and fell in love. When Elle leaves town without a goodbye to pursue her dance career in NYC, Emmett is left heartbroken. They meet again as adults . He is now an author and she is living her dream. But that dream has been shattered when she’s diagnosed with breast cancer. They get together for one night and she once again leaves him without an explanation and not telling about her disease.
When he temporarily returns home to help his mother with the family business, she is also back for good. He is unwilling to give her his heart once again but as time goes on a relationship starts, though he knows she is still keeping secrets from him.
The story is heartbreaking but also heartwarming. I loved both of their family members whom the authors bring to life. You feel you are inside the book and at times just want to hug Emmett and Elle and encourage them to find happiness. Yes, it’s a romance, but it’s also a story about family, trust, and obstacles that must be overcome. But with the one you love , these obstacles and walls we build around ourselves, are worth tearing down .
My only regret is that I missed book one of the series. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for us in future books in this series.
