My world came crashing down around me the day dad died. Instead of being excited to start senior year, I’m devastated and uprooted. Mom and I move back to my hometown, back to where our lives were happy, when dad was still with us. I’m excited as I can be, until I realize my former best friend, Noah, has moved on without me, and wants nothing to do with me anymore. My world was destroyed the day … destroyed the day Frankie left. I became a cold, distant, angry version of the boy she knew. Someone able to handle a life without the person I wanted most. Now she’s back, but I don’t know how to be the old me. It seems all I’m good at is pushing her away when all I want to do is hold her close.

I’ve read several of Kristin’s books now, so I’m familiar with her style. This, though…this is the best work yet. Frankie & Noah are so perfect for each other. This is a delicious, trope-tastic feast. Quarterback/Cheerleader/High school/childhood best friends to eventual lovers/jealousy/angst and drama filled goodness right here.
Frankie and Noah grew up next door to each other, and were inseparable—right up until Frankie’s family relocates for her dad’s new job. Despite trying to keep in touch (which is hard for adults, mind you!) they grow apart from each other. Noah turns his heartache inward in potentially destructive ways, while Frankie does her best to fit a mold that’s always missing something she can’t put her finger on. Things are okay—until Frankie’s world explodes in gunfire. Devastated, she and her mom move back to her childhood home—and back to Noah. That’s when the real heart wrenching stuff begins. Because that boy Frankie left so many years before? He’s grown into a brooding, tasty treat, and he’s far past confused about how to deal with Frankie and his feelings. Then stuff comes out and just —-trust me. Read it. It’s a quick/easy read, but that just means the feel punches hit you sooner and harder. Also: I can’t WAIT for Miranda & Liam’s book!!
Five warm fuzzy stars for the feel goods I felt for days after finishing.
4,5* Heartwarming story about real life troubles, touching and moving, covering very sensitive topics
Loved this story so so very much. All the characters, the main protagonists as well as their friends and families are very special. I liked how author touched some really sensitive topics in this book that many people struggle with, not necessarily teenagers or young adults.
Writing style gives the feeling of very thoughtfully chosen words, they are perfect to weave this plot and say that there’s always a chance to feel. They bring back the faith and give hope that no matter how complicated the circumstances are, with loved ones supporting us we can overcome every obstacle. Only thing we need to do is to give them a chance to help us and we also need to want to change, we have to fight for ourselves and ultimate happiness.
I’d love to read more about the characters I’ve been introduced to in this fantastic novel.
The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So in love with Frankie and Noah. I can’t put into words how great a book this is. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters.
This friends to lovers story was a real page turner from the very beginning with the great character and storyline development that kept me totally engaged as I turned each and every page until the very end!
I’ll admit that this brought tears, with Frankie losing her father and finding him infront of their home and going through the stages of depression then living life and remembering the good memories, very touching. Then finding out Noah isn’t all perfect either but is as broken as much if not more then Frankie, his stems from her leaving years ago and Noah can’t handle life. If it wasn’t for Miranda and Liam this would be a very hard book to get through, they bring in the fun to counter balance to the sadness. I can’t wait to read more and to find out if Team Miranda and Liam get their chance of normal and not of their hard times.
This is my first read from this author and I enjoyed it very much. I loved Frankie and Noah together. They were just perfect for each other. I am excited to see what happens with Miranda and Liam. Can’t wait for their book.
Absolutely phenomenal read! I’m a sucker for friends to lover stories, but this is so much more! I loved every second of Noah and Frankies story, the chemistry between the two is undeniable. The writing immerses you into their story, so you arnt just reading, but feeling it! Not only did I fall in love with the main characters, but I felt such a strong fascination with Liam and Miranda as well and really looking forward to more in this series! This author has quickly became a top contender in favorites!
This book had me in my feelings from the very beginning. Talk about the ultimate best friends-to-lovers (with a little distance and lots of angst) thrown in the mix!
Frankie is reeling from a big loss and moves back to her hometown, where her former best friend, Noah, still lives. As the two of them reconnect – now as nearly adults instead of younger kids – you get to watch them navigate the tricky, teenaged waters of friendship, lust, and love. I adore this book because it does a great job of keeping you invested in the story, of adding in great secondary characters that make the main storyline more interesting than it already is, of really portraying the whole teenage angst angle. It’s emotional, it’s raw, and it’s a great read.
I’m looking forward to reading more in this series, because it definitely isn’t over with just this book. It’s so good!
I can’t tell you how much I love this story. It was such a sweet one. I fell in love with the characters immediately! Noah and Frankie have a history. They also each have some things that they have to overcome throughout the book. Both experience loss but in different ways. In the end they come out stronger than ever. There was heartache, healing and love. It lead to an awesome HEA! Now Miranda (Frankie‘s BFF) and Liam (Noah’s BFF) each have their own secrets and we were totally left hanging about them at the end. It was brutal but now I can’t wait for the next book to come out!
