From the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature and author of the Booker Prize–winning novel The Remains of the Day comes a devastating novel of innocence, knowledge, and loss. As children Kathy, Ruth, and Tommy were students at Hailsham, an exclusive boarding school secluded in the English countryside. It was a place of mercurial cliques and mysterious rules where teachers were constantly … where teachers were constantly reminding their charges of how special they were. Now, years later, Kathy is a young woman. Ruth and Tommy have reentered her life. And for the first time she is beginning to look back at their shared past and understand just what it is that makes them special—and how that gift will shape the rest of their time together. Suspenseful, moving, beautifully atmospheric, Never Let Me Go is modern classic.

Possibly my favorite novel of all time. Much better on re-readings — have read it four or five times, and each time it becomes more moving and devastating.
A very thought-provoking read, by an author that I like a lot.
Enthralling, haunting and provocative. Ishiguro masters the slow reveal, slipping important details into seemingly innocuous sentences and adding new clues every time you think you have things figured out.
Like nothing you’ve ever read.
This writer is always exceptional. I’ve Never been able to get this book out of my mind, though I wish I could. It’s a great book, it’s just that it’s unbearable.
Disturbing and thought provoking. And excellent read.
One of Ishiguro’s most haunting novels – and yet so beautifully written, it’s hard to put down.
I love this book!
This was a very engaging, cryptic story that grabbed me at the beginning and Never Let Me Go until the end. (Sorry!) I love this author and have followed him since The Remains of the Day, enjoying When We Were Orphans, A Pale View of the Hills, and Nocturnes as well. In Never Let Me Go, Kazuo Ishiguro has created a dystopian world which the reader …
Very different from other books I have read by Ishiguro. Sort of a “Hand Maid’s Tale” with a way different twist.
Really humanizing treatment of a massive ethical quandry. Read it years ago and it still haunts me. Be prepared for slow pace and development of feelings for the characters. Heart-breaking.
Science fiction based in the recent past. Original premise and memorable characters. Beautiful writing, My favorite novel by Kazuo Ishiguro.
I did not like this book. I don’t know why it’s so well received. It was difficult to get through.
Just, I can’t think of a word. Really good book
Ishiguro is a great writer, and this is one of his best books.
This book wasn’t the gripping read that I was expecting and oftentimes the characters seemed like they had no redeeming qualities and were perpetually childish, but this was a really thought-provoking book that brings up questions about death, free will, destiny, and the common good. How does one react when faced with the reality of death? Do we …
Creepy, sad, and moving.
Intelligent
Not a happy book, but an interesting one.
It unfolds in a way that hits the heart and mind.
