This book was dark and twisted, with great bursts of light. I absolutely LOVED it! Abbie Roads is a new author to me. After this one book, she is on my auto-buy list. This story is the third in the Fatal Dreams series, though it stands alone quite well even though the books are related. I must go back and read the others…I have a burning need to see what I missed!
This story has breathtaking action right off the bat. Helen, who was unjustly convicted for murder, is about to be paroled after 10 years. A gang who tormented and tortured her that entire time was not going to let Helen leave alive. Her attempted escape had me holding my breath. Our heroine began to have extremely odd, disturbing dreams once she met our hero. Though Helen’s life has become an unending nightmare, she is still one tough cookie!
Then we have our tortured hero Thomas. ~Sigh~ I just loved Thomas! Thomas was scarred badly from his stepfather stomping his face when he was 5 years old . Tragically, he can only see in black and white. No colors at all, until he meets Helen. Also, Thomas can see the death shadows of people both living and dead. When someone dies, he is called in by law enforcement to read the deceased’s shadow, and is able to see their past and how they died.
These two were destined for each other. Literally.
What follows is a non-stop ride of depravity and darkness. Malone is one of the vilest villains I’ve chanced to read in a long time. But then there is the light of Helen and Thomas, illuminating the story. I loved their beautiful connection, plus the heat they have for each other. This book is an unending thrill ride that is not to be missed!
I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley. I received no compensation for this review, and all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
Abbie Roads writes romance with a twist. There always something extra whether it’s paranormal or just more interesting than other books in a similar genre. She’s absolutely one of my favorite authors and this book was so amazing I couldn’t put it down. The characters make you love them and root for them and their stories grab you and make your chest ache. They are the best! You’ll love this one guaranteed!
Never Let Me Fall (Fatal Dreams #3) by Abbie Roads is another great book in the Fatal Dreams series where the legend continues. It is a supernatural story that is full of darkness and suspense, pain and suffering, destiny and love. Each book is about couples that are bound by a legend where they are destined to be together. Where the connection together is life long and undeniable. This series is one of my favourites and is a compelling and engrossing read that you can not put down until you know how it ends. Abbie is very very good at writing something so dark but also so sweet.
Helena is living a life not of her making. Being accused of something she didn’t do but no one believes her. Freedom is not far away but can she survive long enough to get there. Thomas is damaged and lived through a horrific and tragic past by a monster that he has to live with every day.
All it takes is one look, and their lives change in a way neither of them would have ever thought. If only they can defeat the monster that won’t let go. If only they can escape from the dark.
Even though there is a lot of dark content in this story it is one that grips your heart to the point of tears and makes you hope against hope that these beautiful broken people find peace and love in their lives.
Wow I’ve never read a storyline quite like this. It was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to find out what would happen next, yet it was also so sweet how the two main characters found each other and brought the best out of each other. My heart broke for them then it cheered them on as they were finally getting their happiness they so much deserved. I didn’t read the other books in the series prior to reading this one but I didn’t feel lost or like I needed to but I did go back and trust me you will want to read the other stories because they are equally amazing. It has its dark moments but the beautiful moments make it so worth it. The author is amazing and knows how to pull all the emotions out of the reader. Definitely recommend.
Ah, Thomas and Helena – both terribly broken by their pasts, surviving day to day, and just so darn perfect for each other. If you’re familiar with the Fatal Dreams series, you know to expect instant and impossible to ignore attraction between the characters. So, it’s kind of instalove, but not, and the paranormal aspect makes it work. In this case, neither of them understand it, but there’s a deep connection and being together causes some big changes in both of them. On the romance side of this tale, Abbie Roads gives us a love story you just can’t help but root for. It’s sensual without being explicit, and the healing, both physical and of the soul, is shown perfectly. Then we have the thriller/suspense element with a twisted bad guy, someone looking for revenge, and a spectacular twist to bring it all together. The only drawback for me is that this one felt a little rushed, but overall, it’s a great addition to a terrific series. The series is dark, but there’s also hope and the power of true love between soulmates.
Author Abbie Roads does it again with a breathtaking, romantic novel of redemption and survival. In this fast-paced paranormal, fate throws two people together who battle the dark side—an unseen enemy that keeps you guessing.
Roads has a way of melding suspense with poetic emotions. It’s easy to root for a hero such as Thomas Brown, a detective for the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. His personal history is enough to gain your sympathy with his visual disability and childhood abuse experience.
But it’s his knight in shining armor rescue and subsequent love for Helena Grayse, a woman with her own demons, that gives us all the feels. “She enthralled him, cast a spell over him. She was lovelier than spring blossoms, more captivating than a sunrise, more magnificent than a thunderstorm.”
This story has all the satisfying elements of a good paranormal—sexy times to warm your nights and surprising twists to ramp up your pulse. Never Let Me Fall won’t disappoint!
Wow what a story! Never Let Me Fall will take you through the ringer with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. It is the third book in the Fatal Dreams series however you can easily read it without reading the previous books however the other books are so good and I recommend them as well. This is the story of Helena Grayse or Helen as we know her in the story. She has been in prison for 10 years. Convicted of murdering her boyfriend when she was 18 even though she claimed innocence. She stopped talking when she entered prison and now 10 years later she has been released but remains silent to the outside world. Thomas Brown is an outside consultant for the police department. He was abused as a child and has lost his ability to see color. He moves through life but isn’t living. What neither of them realize is that their lives will intersect and what happens will answer all the questions that each have if only they have the strength to trust each other and support each other to achieve the answers that they both need. Thomas’s sister Evanee is briefly mentioned. Her story was in Hunt the Dawn (Fatal Dreams #2). Never Let Me Fall is beautifully written, haunting in it’s memories for our hero and heroines pasts and will keep you riveted until the end. It’s written from dual POV and I cannot recommend it enough to fans of paranormal psychological thriller romance!
Couldn’t out it down!!!
I liked the darkness. I liked the unexplained (almost paranormal). But I really liked the romance. If you’re looking for an unusual paranormal romantic suspense, give this book a try. I bet you end up reading the whole series.
NEVER LET ME FALL is book 3 in the Fatal Dreams series. Each book follows a different couple with an intense connection but can be read as standalones.
Helena (Helen) Grayse has endured a horrific decade of abuse that’s left her a self imposed mute but she’s finally about to begin a new chapter in her life. Until she meets the mysterious Thomas Brown. He’s scarred, both mentally and physically but it seems like fate when he meets the beautiful and silent, Helen. Their lives are about to be thrown into a tailspin and they’ll need to learn how to depend on each other to survive.
How do I explain this book? Well, let me first say that Ms Roads has an amazing ability to create an elaborate and complex world, one that’s filled with intrigue and thrills. I’ll warn that there is a touch of paranormal weaved into the storyline or maybe it’s just not easily explainable. I’m not sure, but you may need a small leap of faith to fully enjoy all the intricacies and connections that this novel has. Because, WOW! I can’t even begin to outline for you all of the crazy parallels and associations between Helen and Thomas.
Before I become repetitive, I’ll move on to the characters. Both are magnificently multilayered and so UNIQUE! My heart bled and my mind was completely ensnared by Helen and her circumstances within the very first chapter. This lady’s backbone must have been made of steel because she was so freaking strong. Then there’s Thomas, who had his own painful past that shaped and scarred him. It gave him an ability that he hated because it left him in constant darkness. Yet, under all that, was a big ole teddy bear with a big ole heart and I wanted to hug the crap out of him!
I’m trying not give spoilers so I’ll just say that if you enjoy a thriller with a dark, twisted plot, multifaceted characters and a bit of the paranormal, scoop this one up! On a side note, now that I read the book, I’m absolutely in love with the cover because it so accurately portrays Helen and Thomas. Told mostly from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Read in one sitting, in a very short time because I just couldn’t put it down. Wonderful book.
Never Let Me Fall by Abbie Roads
Four Stars
Never Let Me Fall is the third book in the Fatal Dreams series by Abbie Roads. Although you can read this book as a standalone, I highly recommend you read the first two books in the series to get the full back story. This book had me hooked from the very first page. It is action packed with suspense and romance added in. Helen and Thomas are both strong but damaged people, and when they meet things click with them. The chemistry is instantaneous and palpable. This book left me with a book hangover, when I finished reading I found myself thinking about things that happened in it. I love books that bring out strong emotions and this book really fit that bill. I highly recommend this book, series and author.

Never Let Me Fall by Abbie Roads is the thirds book in the Fatal Dreams series and follows the stories of Helena and Thomas and how they become involved in each others worlds and in the end romance blossoms.
Helena has had a hard life being raised by her grandparents, then at eighteen being charged and convicted of murder she never committed, once released she has struggled to let go of the horrors of her past until she meets Thomas.
Thomas is a soul who has also had a terrible upbringing, one too many abusive fights with his step father had rendered him colour blind, but one one sense goes he was gifted another great sense. Thomas has the ability to look into peoples souls and determined if they good or bad. He sees colours in auras and when he meets Helena he sees the most beautiful colours in the whole world and is instantly attracted to her.
This is the first story I have read in this story and although the story flowed I feel I would have had a better understanding of the characters better. This did not distract from the story it was full of intrigue and romance with the two main characters attraction pretty quick in the story.
I loved the twist on the paranormal of the gifts that Thomas had was a real joy to read and the interaction between the two characters was brilliant. I thought the story was well written and the characters where well developed, I would love to read the first two books in this series to see what secrets I have missed in the beginning of this great series.
Never Let Me Fall (Fatal Dreams) By Abbie Roads
5 Stars!!!!!
I have to say that another trip into this Fatal Dreams series has once again been such a great read. I really like the author’s world she has created and how the couples come together. I found the style to be quite unique and it really grabs the reader from page one. I just couldn’t put this book down.
The chemistry between Helen and Thomas is quite unique. I like how Helen’s past adds to the drama that brings these two together. The way that Helen is like the completing half of the whole for Thomas just really adds to the book. I was on the edge of my seat as the drama unfolded in this book. To see the drama unfold and to see that Helen got her happy ever after was just the cherry on top of the cake for me. I will definitely be reading more from this author and I hope this series!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to ask myself how have I not read anything by her before? This was a really great read and although I haven’t read any of the series previously this book was easily read as a standalone. The authors’ writing was exciting and pulled me in straight away. I loved all the different twists and turns and I was on the edge of my seat trying to guess what was going to happen on more than one occasion.
I liked the characters Helena and Thomas, they both had a past that was quite horrific but when they meet each other you could just feel the connection that they had. This is quite a dark read I will admit but I still really enjoyed it.
I am definitely going to be looking to read more from this author again in the future and I highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy a little darkness to your reads!
Never Let Me Fall (Fatal Dreams Book 3) By Abbie Roads. This author knows how to pack maximum punch in her books without it feeling like it’s overwhelming. This book just like the others had me completely intrigued and drawn into its pages filled with a roller coaster ride. It’s got everything I was looking for in a romantic suspense story. Drama, action and twists I didn’t see coming. Throw in characters that are incredible you have a five star story I couldn’t put down. Thomas and Helena are characters I won’t be forgetting any time soon, each one brought unique parts to the story world and I loved each one. I can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next. I highly recommend this book.
Never Let Me Fall is book 3 in the Fatal Dreams series by Abbie Roads. I love the twist she put on paranormal romantic suspense stories. These stories are powerful and leave a lasting impression.
Never Let Me Fall is Thomas and Helena’s story. I love how the author weaves each story. I love the individuality of each story, while still intertwined in the series. It was articulate and immaculate and the attention to detail was mind blowing. I was swept away by these characters and their story. The intensity and intrigue was captivating and I never wanted this story to end.
The talent exhibited on each page is limitless. The pleasure of reading was an exquisite experience. 5 stars.

“He wanted to go all medieval knight and slay her dragons.”
Never Let Me Fall is the third thrilling book in the Fatal Dreams Series by Abbie Roads. It is paranormal romantic suspense, with so much happening between the covers that you will feel like you are on an incredible rollercoaster ride. There is danger, intrigue, loss, grief, pain, secrets, love, hate, drama, mystery, and a touch of destiny. The story is gritty, raw, dark, and a little twisted in places- which really gives the story an added ‘punch’. There is also a psychological aspect to the plot that is pretty intense. Woven around all this is a wonderful romance full of tender, sweet, moments that really touched me- as well as some red hot electrifying ‘intimate’ scenes that fogged up the screen on my kindle. I have loved every moment of this series, but I think this book has become my firm favourite, as there are so many interconnected details, and overarching storyline that got tied together in this story. I am addicted to Ms. Roads work- her stories/books are not only riveting page turners- they are so cleverly thought through, with so many minute and interconnected details that give this book/series such a spellbinding quality. The addition of elements such as Bear and Fearless’ story and the meaning , and connections, contained in it are just one example of Ms. Roads true genius when it comes to telling a completely captivating story. It’s these ‘extra’ little touches that really sets this book/series apart!
In this book we follow Thomas Brown and Helena Grayse as their story unfolds. Thomas is Evanee’s brother (Book #2). He is drowning in pain, having had a horrendous childhood which has left him physically and mentally scarred. When his stepfather kicked him in the face when he was five years old, Thomas lost the ability to see colour- he’s been living in a black, white and grey world ever since. “A life without colour was a life without passion.” It also gave him the ability to see ‘the shadow of death’ which helps him carryout his job at the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. But an unexpected encounter with a beautiful woman brings colour flooding back into his world. There is something unique about her that draws him to her like no one ever before. But circumstances mean she slips out of his life before he can find out anything about her, taking his colour with her. A chance encounter many hours later brings these two back together again.
Helena has her own scars from enduring a hellish existence for the past 10 years. She was incarcerated for a murder she didn’t commit- and faced such brutality that she hasn’t spoken in nine long years. She’s finally released and plans to leave the place that represents so much pain- as soon as she says her final goodbyes. This puts her in the path of Thomas, who manages to make her feel safe for the first time in a decade. When her situation has them spending time together, their connection becomes even more apparent and their chemistry becomes harder to resist. She would love nothing more than to surrender to his kindness, and her feelings- but doesn’t feel worthy of him. She fears that once he learns her secret, he won’t want anything to do with her. But with danger stalking them both, will they survive long enough to explore what’s between them? Both will have to confront their pasts, in order to move forward into the future. The problem is, sinister forces have their own agenda/s and both Helena and Thomas are locked firmly in their sights- placing them both at risk. What ensues makes for some intense, adrenaline inducing, emotional, unpredictable, and unforgettable reading!
As I have come to expect, Ms. Roads is incredibly clever and so entirely convincing in her detailed explanations, that I fully accepted what she was telling me- the ‘paranormal’ elements became entirely plausible and a matter of fact. I love that about this author, the way she can draw you into her story, delivering unique concepts and then making them seem so real and believable. Her vivid, detailed and descriptive style really helps to sell the story. And her complex, fully realised and endearing characters are so easy to fall for and invest in- which along with the gripping storyline, managed to entice me further and further into the story- all the while, scrambling to figure out what was going on.
As always, I can’t wait for the next book from this talented author!
Thank you, Ms. Roads!
Never Let Me Fall Fatal Dreams book 3 by Abbie Roads
Five Stars
I am in shocked and a little sick. This story was unbelievable. The thought of living a life like Helen and Thomas lived is frightening. To always be afraid and wondering when it would end. Thomas’s childhood was so depressing and to think that about what his stepfather had planned for him. It made my stomach churn just thinking about it. The author did a great job writing this story. It was suspenseful, painful and in some ways beautiful. The bond between Helen and Thomas grew and was a thing to behold. The moment he realized he could heal her and set to just that was the moment I knee this book was a keeper.
