As a forensic genealogist, Willow Anderson is following in her late grandfather’s footsteps in her quest for answers about a baby abducted from the hospital more than twenty years ago. The case may be cold, but things are about to heat up when someone makes an attempt on her life to keep her from discovering the truth.Ex-FBI agent–and Willow’s ex-flame–Austin McKade readily offers his help to … his help to protect the woman he never should have let get away. In this fast-paced and emotional page-turner, bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard keeps the stakes high, the romantic tension sparking, and the outcome uncertain until the very end.

The author gives us a story that begins with a terror only a new mother could even imagine, and the story goes from there with one danger to another, a person so evil that I can’t even imagine.
Now I figured out early whom the culprit was, but I loved the story that was being offered and it kept my attention right to the end. Seemed like there was action behind every corner, and then we didn’t know whom to be trusted, and I wanted to be sure I was correct.
In the end, we hope the evil will not prevail and real family can be reunited, but the cost is high and some may not survive.
I see that there are more books to come in this series, and I am sure going to be looking for them!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
Elizabeth Goddard sets a high standard for her new Christian suspense series “Uncommon Justice” with her first book in this series. There’s heart-pounding suspense on nearly every page. Willow Anderson is following in her grandfather’s footsteps as a forensic genealogist. After his untimely death, she takes over the investigation of the last case he was working on: The 21 year cold case of the abduction of a new born baby girl from her mother’s hospital room. The girl’s mother has a terminal illness, and desperately wants to be reunited with her daughter while she still has time to spend with her. What seems to be a routine investigation quickly turns deadly as Willow has a couple of attempts made on her life. Nothing in this case is as it seems, and Willow turns to help from an unlikely source: Her ex-boyfriend Austin, who offers to protect her as she investigates the facts in this case. The setting of Jackson Hole, Wyoming makes a great backdrop for this story and the location adds to the suspense that builds all throughout the book.
The characters of WIllow and Austin are complex and intriguing. Both are fiercely loyal, intelligent and determined, but
still struggle with their relationship. As they fall deeper into danger, they fall more deeply in love with each other. Learning to trust each other becomes vital to solving the case before someone else gets killed. There were enough twists and turns in this story to keep my attention and the answer to the mystery isn’t clear until the final chapter. I’ll be keeping up with this series to see what happens next.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I just loved this story. Willow and Austin were such a great team. Their feelings for each other come rushing back after two years apart. With threats and danger abounding on their quest to find a woman’s daughter who was kidnapped 21 years ago they tip toe around their past relationship. As Austin shares some things from his past he has hope that maybe they can have a future. A future if they are able to find out who is trying to stop their quest and threatening their lives. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
From the very beginning, I was pulled by the throat into this story mystery and suspense and not relinquished until the very last page.
This was my first Goddard book and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by it. As I said above, the very beginning pulled me in with its myriad of twists and turns, but I do believe that there was more to the story than just the mystery. I found that this story has unusual depth for a book within the suspense genre. The characters were real and raw and their faith and struggles in that area were something I could relate to.
The majority of the story takes place in Wyoming and. while I have never been there myself, because of Goddard’s descriptions, I was able to envision it.
There is also some romance in this story, as tends to be in most any books now, and I did feel like it could have been toned back a wee bit. While it was understandable considering the characters had a past together, it did take away from the suspense a bit.
In the end, though, I enjoyed this story immensely and am glad that I was able to read it. I will be on the lookout for the next books in the series!
**I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.**
From the opening chapter to the last sentence, I was hooked! This book took me on an adventure from Texas to Seattle to the wilds of Teton Nation Forest in Wyoming. I love books about cold cases and this one was exciting. I also do a lot of genealogy myself so I was thrilled about a book regarding forensic genealogy! I don’t know if I knew that was a “thing”! I sure learned a lot about it in this book though. Willow Anderson wants to honor her late grandfather by finishing his last case even though she is crushed with grief over his recent passing. She doesn’t think she’s as good as he is at this job but she’s going to give it her best shot. She has a lot of bad things happen to her in a short time to make her think that someone might be trying to kill her and that only fuels her desire to solve this cold case. Someone abducted a baby twenty years ago from a hospital and that mother had hired Willow’s grandfather to find that baby, now a young woman, before this mother dies of cancer. Willow gets help from an unexpected source, her ex-boyfriend, Austin McKade, who used to be a FBI agent. There’s a lot of mistrust there and it’s very hard for them to work together but they both want to find the abducted girl. Austin must face his past that he’s tried to outrun for years until it suddenly becomes part of the case! This is an intriguing and riveting romantic suspense. I couldn’t put it down until the last page was read! Lots of twists and turns with unexpected results! I highly recommend it!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. These opinions are my own.
Wow! Never Let Go was an intense story! This is one of my favorite books that this author has written. It was so interesting to watch as Willow and Austin worked to piece together the decades old kidnapping mystery, while trying to stay alive!
I loved the beautiful and rugged setting of Wyoming. It lent a wildness to the story that kept me on edge as I tried to work out who was behind the kidnapping of Jamie Mason. It was hard to know who to trust and clear that someone did not want their secret to become known.
The second chance love story between Willow and Austin was wonderful and left me feeling happy for all they had come through. What a great start to a new series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Elizabeth Goddard has written a book that lives up to its title because ‘Never Let Go’ grabs your attention from page one and it is hard to put it down! The prologue introduces us to an event that occurred twenty-one years ago and it is a cold case that has never been solved. Now, in the present, forensic genealogist Willow Anderson is determined to try one last time to find a baby girl that was stolen from a hospital in Houston and never returned to her mother. It is a case that Willow’s grandfather intended to look into before his sudden death and Willow feels an obligation to help the still grieving mother who is now facing death from leukemia. The sudden appearance of Willow’s former boyfriend Austin McKade seems very awkward but she soon realizes that she needs his FBI experience and expertise to continue. Their partnership quickly reveals that the feelings they once shared are still very much alive!
I enjoyed the apparent romantic tension between Willow and Austin. Willow wants to trust him but her past hurt runs deep. It is only when she continues to be threatened that Willow realizes that Austin is the only one who can protect her and help her to find this young woman. Austin still loves Willow but he has a secret that keeps him from sharing his true feelings. It is only when his secret is revealed at the latter part of this book that we can understand his initial reluctance to help Willow with this search.
There are so many things to love about this story! It has circumstances that I could never have imagined and there are unseen threats and almost non-stop danger. Secrets are finally uncovered but I was kept guessing until the very end just who was behind all of the threats and who was responsible for the kidnapping twenty-one years ago. I wasn’t familiar with forensic genealogy so this was an intriguing element and I also enjoyed learning about the Jackson Hole region of Wyoming and the Bridger-Teton National Forest, the area where much of the story takes place. But most of all, I loved the strong faith element running throughout the plot. Talking with God is often mentioned and one example is as Willow tries to escape from an assailant.
“Help me, God! Help me get away. Someone has to live to tell the story.” And a short time later, Willow again prays. “I’m doing the best I can and it’s not enough. Jesus, help me!”
You will definitely want to read this book if you enjoy romantic suspense and Christian fiction. ‘Never Let Go’ by Elizabeth Goddard gets 5 stars from me and I look forward to the next book in this Uncommon Justice series that will allow Austin’s brother Heath McKade to have his own story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and Revell Publishing but I was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. These are my own opinions.
I have read and enjoyed several of Elizabeth Goddard’s Love Inspired Suspense novels so was pleased to learn that she had been signed by Revell for a series of full length novels. Never Let Go is the first of the Uncommon Justice series and if it is any indication of the books to follow, I will definitely be reading them all.
Put together a forensic genealogist and a former FBI agent who is also an ex-beau and have them work together to solve a cold case and you have the formula for a suspenseful and possibly romantic tale. Naturally the two lead characters Willow and Austin carry around a few secrets as well as major trust issues but it almost seems as though Willow’s grandfather is still playing matchmaker from beyond the grave. The plot is fast-paced and contains the requisite amount of danger, suspense, and major plot twists and surprises to keep most readers happy.
I personally had difficulty putting my copy down because I HAD to know what happened next but I reached the end much too soon. I am eager for the publication of the next book in this exciting series.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by the author and Baker Book House. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.

Danger! Forensic genealogist Willow Anderson is a wonderful female protagonist who is trying to find a baby who was abducted 20 years ago! Willow wants to help the mother who has two months to live find her daughter but who is trying to kill Willow? Was her grandfather’s bike accident really murder? This fast-paced book takes place in just a few days time! Never Let Go is a unique story using modern technology to trace people! You will be guessing who the bad guys and good guys are until the end. The fact that much of the book takes place in the beautiful Grand Teton area is icing on the cake! Never Let Go by Elizabeth Goddard

Searching for a baby taken 21 years ago. When the case heats up and turns deadly she enlists the help of ex FBI agent and Ex beau Austin McKade.
Never Let Go is fast paced, action packed and full of suspense. The romantic tension between the two main characters can be cut with a knife. Elizabeth Goddard has done a phenomenal job with this 5 star book. I can’t wait for book two.
“The case may be cold, but things are about to heat up.”
Fast-paced and action-packed, Elizabeth Goddard writes a riveting full length romantic suspense that will keep your heart pumping and glued to the pages! A twenty-one year old cold-case investigation turns deadly in a quick hurry when Willow Anderson continues what her late grandpa JT started. Working alongside ex-boyfriend Austin McKade to find the culprit behind the attacks on her, will test these two to the limits!
The romantic angst is just as strong as the suspense angst and really ramps up the tension! Watching these two work through the reasons their relationship didn’t last years ago kept me rooting for them. Finding common ground is going to take determination and hard work not to mention trying to stay focused on the task at hand. Goddard paces this with many twists and turns. She keeps you guessing as to who is behind the threatening notes and danger to Willow. Her first novel published by Revell really lets her creativity & writing style shine! I had a hard time putting this down and the pace really picked up for me at the halfway point. I also loved getting to know Austin’s brother Heath and look forward to reading his story in the next book!
If you like fast-paced action, knife-edged danger around every corner, and romantic angst Goddard delivers in this one. I’m already a huge fan of hers reading her Love Inspired novels and was pleasantly satisfied with “Never Let Go”!

Never Let Go by Bestselling Author Elizabeth Goddard is the first book in the Uncommon Justice Series. This is a story about Willow Anderson, a Forensic Genealogist who finds herself picking up the pieces of a case her grandfather was working on before his sudden death. Will Willow have the skills to solve this case and stay alive?
This is the first book I have read by Author Elizabeth Goddard, but it will definately not be the last. She has the ability to so effortlessly pull you into her story and keep you on the edge of your seat guessing until the very last page. If you enjoy thrilling books with plot twists, well developed characters and a love so beautiful it sparks, then this is definately a book for you!
‘Protection poured off him as if he wore armor and held up a shield to defend her.’
When Willow Anderson’s forensic genealogist grandfather, whom she works with, dies in an accident, she decides to continue the case he was working on at the time of his death. Twenty one years ago, a baby girl was stolen from the hospital and her mother has been looking for her all this time. The mother is now dying of leukemia and desperately wants to find her daughter before time runs out.
Austin McKade, who had a not so nice break up with Willow several years earlier, was called in by her grandfather to work the case and she was not informed about that. When an attempt is made on Willow’s life, Austin decides to step back in and help with the case. Austin will just have to face the mistakes of his past if he’s to try to keep Willow alive and help her solve this case.
Goddard starts off strong here and the action keeps up at a steady pace throughout, with added layers thrown in to keep readers guessing. And guess they do. I was completely surprised at the ending. This one is fast paced and well done. The tension continues to mount during the reading and it’s hard to put the book down. Recommended.
*My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinions stated here are my own.

The book started out sort of slow and worked its way into being action packed. The beginning of the book introduced you to the characters and their backgrounds. As well as the case Willow’s grandfather was just hired for. Austin had some issues in his past to get over and Willow couldn’t accept that he wouldn’t share them with her. As they work out their differences, the case heats up. Some one tries to kill Willow not once but several times. The closer they get the more their lives are in danger. I’d say the last third of the book was action packed.
This book is well worth the read and I look forward the Heath’s story next.
I was given this book NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
3.5 stars
“People tend to look for a needle in a haystack . . . . . . . When all they need is one good thread . . ”
Forensic genealogist Willow Anderson is used to looking for “needles” and “threads”; knowing that the most obscure detail could morph into the missing piece of a client’s puzzle. But following the tragic death of her grandfather, the founding member of Anderson Consulting, Willow isn’t sure that she wants to continue the legacy of excellence that J.T. began. Her heart wasn’t in it, . . . . until someone tried to kill her and the former love of her life unknowingly responds to her grandfather’s final request for help.
“Willow and Austin McKade had already crashed and burned” . . . . . or had they? Austin was confusing himself over the overwhelming sense that he needed to protect Willow. Off to an understandably rocky start, they cautiously agree to work J. T.’s final case; solving a twenty-one year old cold case; a baby’s abduction. Shouldn’t they just let it go?
Filled with acceleration, “Never Let Go” forces its characters to pull back the layers of their past, forcefully and courageously face the present, and allow themselves to embrace the future. It’s a good thing that this book is the first in a series; there are secondary characters who have earned a story of their own!

***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
Elizabeth Goddard’s latest contemporary suspense novel Never Let Go is a thrilling mystery about the kidnapping of a newborn baby from the mother’s hospital room 21 years earlier. The case quickly expands into a murder mystery and a hint of romance as forensic genealogist Willow Andersen takes the case with help from her former boyfriend ex-FBI agent Austin McKade. Soon both Willow and Austin find themselves in danger and receive threats to their lives as they search for answers to what happened to the kidnapped baby and some recent deaths that seem related to the case.
It was a thrilling fast-paced story, and author Elizabeth Goddard included many incredible twists and turns to the plot that I did not see coming. This novel was amazing, and I could not put it down. It was that good! It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was shocked to find out who was the culprit. At the end, all the clues dropped throughout the story came together for a satisfying ending. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series in which Austin McKade’s brother Heath gets his own story. Fans of contemporary suspense will love this latest novel by Elizabeth Goddard.
