Luce and Ollie have developed a weird friendship of sorts over the last few months. When they both need an escape they take off together for his yacht in the Bahamas. Crazy fans strand them on a deserted island. Will Ollie be able to prove to Luce that the person she sees in public is not the real Ollie?
This is the 4th book in the series and they just keep getting better. I love that we continue to spend a little time with all the other band members and their significant others. Ollie and Luce both carry some heavy baggage and it takes some pretty drastic circumstances to force them to open up to each other. Their is so much emotion in this book and it will make you laugh and break your heart. Looking forward to jumping into the Kill Devil Hills series.
Luce thinks Ollie is a pest at best. Ollie is the bassist for Sunset Revival and a player. He’s had a crush on Luce for a long time. The two end up kidnapped and stranded on an island thanks to a deranged fan. Will Luce realize there’s more to Ollie than the playboy image? Can Ollie find his happiness with Luce? A good read and ending to the series.
Oh man these books are some of my absolute favorites!! And to finally get Ollie’s story, I was super excited!
Sarah writes some of the best rockstars. I just loved every single one she wrote for the band. Ollie though had to be my favorite. To get a deeper look into who he truly was, had to be the best. I didn’t know he had all of that going on with him.
Luce, my favorite badass. She broke my heart though. To be in love with someone who wasn’t yours had to be so hard to live with. But seeing her open up to Ollie under the circumstances that they were in made me so happy to see. I just wanted them both to be happy.
If you love a good rockstar or rock band series, then look no further than these awesome books by Sarah!!

Never Leave A Rockstar was the fourth book in Sarah Darlington’s Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills series, also known as the Never Trust series.
Ollie Mills was the bassist and the face of the famous rockstar band, Sunset Revival. He was a total playboy, never serious, never responsible, and seemingly not the one to count on. From the moment he met Luce, he knew she was a game changer.
Luce Winchester was the aunt to Emma, book one Never Trust A Rockstar. When she met Ollie, she immediately disliked him and saw him for what he was – a total player. But somehow they still became friends.
Most of the stories in the series followed the same timeline, but Darlington demonstrated Ollie and Luce’s friendship that had started in previous books then began a new timeline for Never Leave A Rockstar. The kidnapped storyline was pretty far fetched – not the stalker part, that I could easily see. But the way the events played out was over the top (and should have been concluded much differently), but it made for a good backdrop to Ollie and Luce.
I enjoyed Ollie. He had his celebrity persona, but the real “Oliver” was someone genuine and easy to love. I liked Luce and didn’t blame her hesitation based on his reputation, but I thought she was harsh at “the big conflict.” I also didn’t care for how Ollie’s family and band mates treated him. He played a part with them as well and as much time spent with him, they should have known better. No spoilers, so no elaboration.
I thought this was the best written book in the series. Darlington brought more depth into Ollie. He had to earn it, but once Ollie had my heart, it stayed with him.
It appears the series is now complete; however, Darlington is granting us a short teaser with the newest band member, Ethan, in an upcoming anthology, Rocked to the Core.
What an incredible, unique, and sweet story was Never Leave a Rockstar by the wonderful Sarah Darlington. This is book 4th in the Never Trust series and can be read as a stand-alone.
The main characters are Ollie and Luce and the phrase “opposites attract” describes this couple very well.
Ollie is a famous rockstar, that likes to party and sex too much but underneath that exterior it’s a man that has so many insecurities and doubts about himself. The only person he is able to talk to is Luce ( who by the way is 8 years older that him and it’s in love with her boss) . Luce is honest, hardworking and even though she doesn’t want to admit it is there for and enjoys each conversation she has with Ollie.
Things happened and they both find themselves in the most awkward situation, stranded in a Island after some crazy psychos leave them there.
The week they spend together makes them known each other in a different level and work together so well. But like any dream, you have to wake up a face reality. Once they are back in the city Luce has to face some life altering decisions and doesn’t think Ollie is ready for it. For Ollie is face his family , the crazy rockstar life and try to convince Luce, he has change.
This couple is left to face reality at it’s full force and prove that love can conquer all. The journey won’t be easy but the end will be rewarding.
So this book is a must read!!!
What a fantastic ending to a fantastic series! From the very first book Ollie was well intriguing.. I kinda wanted to junk punch him a few times (just sayin) So I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to even like his book but boy of boy does he redeem himself! When a series of unfortunate events occurs; Luce and Ollie are thrown together in a very unique way. They are forced to trust each other, listen to each other & just WOWZA ! These two were explosive and completely unexpected. I really really loved every minute of this book. Loved all these characters and I cannot wait to see where Sarah Darlington takes us next!
Ollie, there was a reason you were the last book in the series. You stole my heart as well as Luce’s. The bad boy bassist of Sunset Revival has secretly been crush on Luce for years. Never feeling worthy of her, he continues his string of one night stands. Needing to get away from life for a bit, she takes Ollie up on his offer to cruise on his boat in the Bahamas. When Luce and Ollie are dumped on a deserted island, they need to learn to depend on each other to survive. They call a truce to their constant bickering and do what they need to do to hold it together. When they finally escape the island and a crazy stalker of Ollie’s, they head back to Kill Devil Hills to hide out and figure out their relationship. If you have read the other books, you will know that Luce, sister of Emma, has a secret she is holding and fears Ollie will forever leave her. But she needs to do what she needs to do and just hope Ollie understands.
Sarah Darlington, thank you for bringing us this wonderful series. Every character and story got a little bit better than the last. I will miss these boys and the women who love them. Can’t wait to see what is next from you!
Sarah really knocked it out of the park with this finale to the Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills series, saving the best for last, I just loved it! In this story we meet Ollie the youngest brother in the band and as we learned from the previous books the one just out for a good time. His idea of a relationship is one night or at a stretch a weekend, he is not into commitment of any kind except to the band, and his family despair of him.
His love interest is the tough as nails on the outside, Luce who we first met in book one. She is Emma’s aunt. She is living a totally unfulfilling life as a waitress in a bar whose owner she has been in love with for years but now he is about to marry someone else.
Instead of the usual love, leave and love again formula, Sarah gives us something different. When Luce won a competition for Emma to meet her heartthrob Ollie she had called to vet him and the band before letting her niece meet them. Ollie became intrigued with the feisty woman on the phone and when he goes to rehab, he finds himself calling Luce often. The two of them become unlikely friends and though neither would ever admit it enjoyed their phone chats.
When Luce is faced with having to attend her boss’s wedding she confides to Ollie that she is not sure if she can handle it. Ollie invites her to spend the weekend on his boat. Once he realizes what he has done and too afraid to let Luce know that he is interested in her for more than his usual sex scenario, he also invites two other girls, which is how Luce finds him when she arrives. She is disappointed to say the least as she had hoped that they could have at least a good weekend together as friends.
The story takes an unexpected twist as Luce and Ollie find themselves kidnapped by the other girls and left stranded on an island with no supplies. After a few mishaps they become a reluctant team as they struggle to find food, water and shelter. Ollie sheds his cocky rock star persona and reveals who he really is, a sweet and caring guy who wants to care for her. Just as they start to get closer the kidnappers come back and take them onto the boat again. After escaping Ollie and Luce go back to their lives, but their time together was such a profound experience it has changed everything for both of them.
Sarah did a great job of endearing us to Ollie who for most of the series was the least liked character for me. She shows us that people are often not who they seem and actions can be just a cover for a lack of confidence, and that people can change themselves to get what or who they want. The ending left me a weepy but beautifully done and I am so glad that Ollie finally found himself. This was probably the best book of the series for me, and now I want to go back and read more about the characters of Kill Devil Hills. Make sure you read all four books in this series you will love them.
4.5 stars
This is the fourth book in the Never Trust Series and it is Ollie’s story. It can be read as a standalone but there are situations and other occurrences that are going on, that anyone reading this book would be better served to have read the prior books in order before diving into this one. Ollie is the youngest of the Mills brothers and the bassist for the band, Sunset Revival. He is a wild one constantly with a new woman as he has a propensity for having sex. Luce is Emma’s cousin who readers met when she fell head over heels for Caleb, Ollie’s older brother in book one. From the get go, Luce was not Ollie’s biggest fan because of his playboy’s attitude and the eight-year age gap between them. However, somehow, she wound up as Ollie’s sounding board when he would call her as he was dealing with his sex addiction. Through their conversations, their relationship changed that led Luce to join Ollie in the Caribbean. Things do not go as planned and the two wind up stranded on an island. This is one impactful storyline as Ms. Darlington addresses some challenging themes from sex addiction to cancer that push her characters to grow and change. As the pages turn, readers can see Ollie’s growth and Luce’s willingness to let someone in so that she has a person in her corner to help her when the going gets tough. It is a fitting end to this series but I hope that there is more to come from this world. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Never Leave A Rockstar is book 4 in the Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills series. It can be read as a standalone. I have read all of them and I have been waiting for been waiting for Ollie’s story since the first book. I loved Ollie. He comes off as a cocky rockstar who loves sex but in this one we find out there is so much more to him. He’s sweet and sometimes vulnerable. Luce has a lot in her plate. The last things she wants is to get involved with Ollie but she’s attracted to him and the more time she spends with him the more she sees the real him. There is great chemistry between these two. This one definitely lived up to the exceptions I had. I loved this one.
An unexpected but amazing journey of a book!
‘Never Leave A Rockstar’ by Sarah Darlington is by far the best book in the ‘Rockstars in Kill Devil Hills’ series and one of my personal favorites.
This book has really surprised me because I did not expect this amazing and intriguing story to totally steal my heart.
We had met both Luce and Oliver in the very first book in the series, and to be honest, first looks were not the best. I perceived Luce as a stuck-up, hard woman who wouldn’t let anyone in, and Ollie as the typical rockstar, a talented and cocky sex God.
Oh, how wrong was I to believe in that first glance at these characters.
Luce is a hard woman but she has reasons to be, she is stubborn and strong, a full-on boss-babe, an incredible and unique person that you’d have to be crazy to leave behind.
She is mature and smart, knows what’s good for her, what’s not, what she has to do even though she isn’t happy to do it.
Luce is someone to look up to, someone who never stepped out of line and lived a good and organized life, but also someone who wants more, needs more out of it.
And that more materializes as a hot as sin rockstar.
Oliver is as cocky as can be, a true rockstar, but other than being always playful and confident, he is also supportive, caring, skilled, a gentleman when he wants to be and a sweet sweet man down to the core.
He is constantly surrounded by people but he couldn’t be more alone, he is misunderstood and lost, followed everywhere by people that only want to use him and surrounded by a family that doesn’t get him, that doesn’t get who he truly is.
So when he comes across a feisty, stubborn, unapologetic, older woman, he can’t resist the urge to get closer to her, even though it scares the lights out of him.
This book was a true surprise full of intriguing mysteries from start to finish, full of angst, steam and incredible moments you’ll never forget.
Luce and Oliver’s story starts months before they get stranded into a deserted island but it is that island that opens their eyes and starts off a series of events that will either make or break their relationship.
I loved reading every second of this amazing story, loved feeling and empathizing with the characters, loved to see them grow and mature, loved it. Period.
Not only do we get a true insight into this couple’s lives but we also get to see what is happening with the others couples we know and love, we see them build their own lives and deal with the consequences of being in a southern rock band, Sunset Revival, and also now having their lives to deal with.
You need to read this book, and this whole series, to be honest, if you like genuine content, amazing characters, incredible down-to-earth stories and feelings all the feels these characters feel and go through.
After Ollie helps Luce out of a situation she can’t handle emotionally they end up stranded on a deserted island by a stalker of his where they really get behind the smoke and mirrors of who each other really is. Ollie is so much more then a shallow rockstar and he wants Luce to see the real him. I enjoyed them being stranded and enjoyed how they navigated back to reality and the growth of these two individually since the beginning of the series. The only issue I have is with how everything went down regarding the stalker. This was a great series that are all stand alones but with interlocking characters and my recommendation is to read in order cause it will really help the flow but it’s totally necessary
Saving the best for last!
After reading the 1st book in this series, I thought the youngest Mills brother, Ollie, was the most mysterious one of all and I couldn’t wait for his story. A one and done kind of guy, no chance of a repeat. He was an over the top, attention seeking manho player, the never serious manchild. Even his own family had low expectations of him, didn’t think he was good for much but stirring up trouble. That all changed when Ollie met a woman that resisted his many charms any day of the week. The better man was trying to surface but would his past actions in the way?
When Ollie’s brother Caleb met his girlfriend Emma in the 1st book in the Rockstars in KDH’s series, her aunt and friend Luce indirectly became part of the Sunset Revival ‘family’. Ollie began obsessing even more over the beautiful older woman who didn’t want him for more than friendship. If that’s all he was going to have with her, he’d take it, friendship it is!
Fast forward…this friendship thing isnt enough for Ollie and an invitation for he and Luce to spend time together in the Bahamas turns into a trip to Crazytown when his yacht is hijacked by a couple of deranged psycho fangirls. They wind up stranded on an island, after swimming for their lives with nothing but what they’re wearing…hmmmm…!!!!
Ollie is the last person Luce would want to be stranded with. His sexy ways and sense of humor almost have broken her down, but how will they survive a deserted island? Is the spoiled star even capable… who is this man??? Is he ‘Ollie the rockstar’ or is there more to discover under that gorgeous cover?
Ollie and Luce’s sweet story is one of discovery and trust. Learning to see what is below the surface, way, way down deep to the core of who they are. Trusting is alittle more difficult..but it’s the necessary ingredient. What if someone isn’t at all what you expect them to be? Can you trust what you can see and feel?
Wow, did I just love this book. Read it in a matter of hours and couldn’t put it down. Ollie was a pleasant surprise and ended up being my favorite Mills brother. I already thought Luce had something special but them together…the honesty, the warmth, the touching moments and even some tears to release all of those pent up feelings…just soooooo perfect to me.
I know that Sarah Darlington loves to connect her characters in a larger more encompassing world, which I adore in a favorite author, so I can’t wait to get my hands on what’s coming next. I hope whatever that is sends me sweet little sitings of all these crazy rockstars and the ladies or men who love them. When I fall into a bookworld I love, I want it to last forever!
Twice now in the Never Trust series Sarah Darlington has made me fall for a character I previously thought I really wouldn’t care for. First it was Rebecca in [book:Never Love a Rockstar|46134549], and now here we have Ollie! I don’t think Ollie endeared himself to many of us when he first appeared in [book:Never Trust a Rockstar|43538132], but my how feelings can change. Not only do I now adore him, but his is my favorite book of the series!
I enjoyed getting to know the “real” Oliver Mills, he ended up being one of my favorite of Sarah’s heroes. He had quite the reputation, and deservedly so. But he’s one of those characters who, once you get to know him, you realize there is so much more to him than meets the eye. I really liked his relationship with Luce. I thought it was so sweet how she was the one he’d reach out to in the beginning, with the daily phone calls. That helped show a different side to him that we hadn’t seen before.
Luce was an interesting character. She was tough yet completely vulnerable. Her feelings for Rhett kind of clouded things for her, and it did take her awhile to move on. I liked Ollie’s persistence with her, although he wasn’t pushy and gave her the time she needed. He really did endear himself to her, and to me!
[book:Never Leave a Rockstar|46134557] felt a little different than the previous books in the series, due to the reason Ollie and Luce end up stranded on an uninhabited island. I liked that part of the story line, the whole kidnapping/stalker aspect, but I wish there had been a bit more to how it was all resolved.
Ollie and Luce were great together and I loved seeing their relationship grow during the time they were on the island. Once back in the real world things did get a little rocky, as Luce had to come to terms with her feelings for Ollie and finally put those for Rhett to rest. But Ollie came through, proving once again he was more than the persona he showed the public. Never Leave A Rockstar was a charming and entertaining end to the Never Trust series, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing these characters pop up again!
The first contact between Luce Winchester and Ollie Mills was not the best, but he was unable to deny his attraction to her from the beginning. When he invites her to spend time with him, little did they know that they would be kidnapped and abandoned on a desert island of their own accord.
During their time on the island, Luce realizes that Ollie isn’t just that womanizing rockstar and the attraction between them is enormous.
When they return to the real world, they need to decide whether the feelings that have arisen on the island will be enough to keep them together, or the problems will be bigger and will drive them away for good.
I loved the story and being able to see this other side of the characters. I highly recommend the reading.
Ah Luce and Ollie, I’ve been waiting for you and you didn’t disappoint.
Luce has no time for a playboy like Oliver “Ollie” Mills. She knows his type and has little time or patience for his games. She tries to keep him at arms length but he is trying to widdle his way into her heart.
Ollie has never felt like this before, he is a one and done kinda guy. He doesn’t do relationships, no time or desire for it. But how did this girl worm her way into his being? He invites her to spend time on his boat and it all goes to hell from there.
Luce and Oliver have to figure out how to survive together and get back home safely, all while protecting their hearts from each other. Will they be able to resist their mutual attraction?
I have loved this series focusing on the core 4 members of a family band. They have each had a unique story, but the books run concurrent with each other. But, if you haven’t read on of the others etc, you will not be too confused with the flow. It is nice though, to keep up on the storylines happening with the others while reading the current story. 4 ½ stars for the 4th book in the series that I voluntarily read and reviewed without expectations. All opinions expressed are my own.
I received an arc from the author for an honest review!
I love Ollie Mills! Everything about him just screams we could be friends! From his fake front to his anxiety. Getting stranded on an island by a crazies fan/wanna be girlfriend is wild. He and Luce are left to their own devices. Death and being held at gun point are dramatic, but Luce needs surgery…right? Will she have it or won’t she! Will
Ollie and her be together or will she forever be in love with Rhett. And the band we finally have the answer to if they are staying together or breaking up. Not sure if that is permanent or just to finish the tour but it gives a us bit of insight anyway.
Is you liked the other books in this series you need to get this one!
No cheating but a HEA!
Let’s start with how much I enjoyed reading this one. It was a big breath of fresh air to come across a contemporary romance novel that had two characters who were willing to be honest, for the most part, with each other about their feelings. I find too often that romance novels are built around the tension of one or both of the main characters have an over bearing fear that keeps them from being honest about how they feel.
From the beginning, we really understand and the experience along with the characters what they feel for each other. After it starts to become more obvious that these feelings are growing, they are willing to bare themselves and face potential rejection rather than continue to fight the other one off or pretend they’re not interesting, which is what you see in so many novels today.
There is the underlying issue that has our main female character scared to death, a family health issue, but she holds that back until she realizes she just can’t face telling Ollie the truth and finally shoves him away for good.
Ollie is very rich rock star that has lived an exciting life of sex and partying and is only known for constantly sleeping around with random women. But Luce is different for him and he knows that immediately but he’s afraid to expose the real him, the him that social media never gets to see.
At times, I found Ollie to be a little over dramatic with his anxiety and self perception, but I also suffer from social anxiety so that part I was able to understand a little easier. But he does have some really whiny man moments that kind of got on my nerves, but not enough to hate him. More like I wanted to pat him on the head and tell him it would all be ok.
Luce is an older woman and that kind of makes her nervous as well about being with Ollie. But they both have very different strengths and as characters they balance each other really well. A great read with lots of drama, a deserted island, a psycho stalker chick, and lots of adventures awaits you in this read.
Never Leave a Rockstar (Rockstars in Kill Devil Hill #4) by Sarah Darlington is the last book in the series. This is Ollie’s story. The story starts out with Ollie and Luce stranded on a deserted island. It is rather comical. Luce is running from Rhett and Sydney’s wedding. She is secretly in love with him and can’t bear to attend his wedding so she make up this ridiculous story of winning a trip. Ollie who is at a sex addict rehab decides to help her with her deception. Unfortunately things dont work out like they planned. While on Ollie’s yacht in the Caribbean his other passengers kidnap and leave him and Luce on a deserted island. On the island things change between Ollie and Luce. Both Ollie and Luce are learning more about each other and themselves. The revelations made for a good story with a little bit of crazy thrown in thanks to Ollie’s stalker. The sexual tension between the two could be cut with a knife, quite the change since Ollie is a man-whore. Of course we get to see the other characters from the previous books and their reaction to Ollie and Luce’s relationship. But can Ollie and Luce find happiness considering Luce’s family medical issues. A nice close to this series. 4 stars for me.
I was asked to read this book for an honest review
I am giving this book a huge massive 5 stars. I loved it from beginning to end and read it in one day, I swear I did not want to put it down.
This book is number 4 in a series but can totally be read as a standalone. I am reading this as a standalone but I think I will go back and read the other 3 just to learn more about the others in the book.
This book was so well written, and had so much detail that you could imagine being on that Island. It was a great way to get to know the characters as they obviously had a lot of time to just think and talk.
It started off with them arriving on the island, but then went back and showed you what happened in the lead up to them getting there. We then saw some insight in to both Luce and Oliver’s characters and why they ended up together in the first place.
I loved the relationship between them, both of them were scared and unsure about what was going on but it was so sweet to watch happen. It was also so lovely to see the caring side of Oliver, and to see him realize why he does the things that he does.
There were definitely a couple of twists to this story and a couple of gasp out loud moments for me, I honestly did not see either of them coming.
I felt so sorry to see Oliver’s family treat him the way that they did but I guess there is history there and reason for them to do so.
Love how the book ended, yet another nice surprise
Over all this was a great read, I really loved it. Thank you so much for this book Sarah, I look forward to reading many more
