McDonald was a new author for me and I seemed a bit hesitant to read the book but I love the cover so I started reading it. I was amazed at how light and satisfying this book was and finished it in one sitting. I love the characters though a bit sarcastic but lovable ones. A nice, no detailed sex scenes and believable romance, just my cup of tea! I love Mariah and John’s quick wits and had a few laughs along the way. I love Georgia! Looking forward to reading her story and the rest of the series!
Enjoyable quick read by Donna McDonald, she never disappoints. I relate to the mature characters in her novels, much more my demographic.
The good storyline and the well defined characters made this book a very enjoyable read! I was so engrossed in this story that I read this book in one sitting!
Forties
What I liked is that Mariah is in her forties and her life is a mess.
Her ex is causing trouble but it’s his cop buddy that gives her hope when everything is tanking in her life.
This is a mature romance with Mariah and Dan who have a chemistry between them but he is a police detective and she is divorced from her ex who was also a police detective. She vowed to never get involved with another police officer but Dan is hard to resist. Sweet romance along with some laughs and some tears.

This is the 4th book I’ve read written by Donna McDonald; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Mariah and her crazy mother and the future of her dating company. Mariah is dealing with her company, The Perfect Date, as well as coming to terms with her divorce and the jerk of an ex husband. When her ex tries to push lawsuit after lawsuit at her to get more money, Mariah is determined to find out why. Then throw in John, a detective that’s working with her ex, keeps hinting at something else going on, she feels lost. But once she gets the chance to know John things heat up. Hoping for a great HEA.

I loved this book. First, because it was about more mature couples, 40+. Seond, because they were established in their careers, smart, and funny.
Mariah had divorced her ex husband, Dan, and was moving on with her life. She found herself attracted to John, and wondering why Dan was he’ll bent on destroying her.
Mariah and John’s interacts were playful, fun, and we got to experience their quick wits. And, on top of all of that, they really LIKE each other.
Mariah’s mom and her friends were pretty funny. I am rooting for Dr. Colombo and Georgia. Can’t wait for their story. At least I hope they get one.
I especially loved Mariah and Dan’s last interaction. She was much nicer than I would have been, but it was good. This book proved the 40’s are the new 20’s, only better.
I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh, it made me smile. I highly recommend any book that leaves me feeling good with a smile on my face after the last page. I am looking forward to the next book.

Great
Mariah has her PhD and was doing a talk show for most of her marriage but got tired of it and started a dating service that help professional match up. And she also got divorced from her cheating cop husband. She had to move in with her mom after he took to the cleaners. Dan just lost a legal case against her and then there is a new one. John is Dan’s partner. But things get interesting from there.
Love this funny romance. It was cute and adorable. A few chuckles and smile on your lips.
Can I just say that the premise of this series, and story, is refreshingly wonderful? Don’t get me wrong, some of the things that happen can be devastatingly hard, however the tone of the story is uplifting, funny, sometimes sad or downright murderous. At its heart it is a love story sorta/kinda mixed up with a coming of age story that happens maaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyybe a bit later in life than you’d normally think. Mariah Bates is the heroine and is smart, intelligent, beautiful, feisty and owns a matchmaking company. She’s quite successful at it, too! The story opens with her being sued by her ex-husband, a police detective, for what the law is calling “running an escort service”. Uh, no, she is not. Enter an introduction to Detective John Monroe, which doesn’t really go well. I won’t go into details because the author writes it so much better than I can. Let’s just say each encounter with the detective is more hilarious than the last. Mariah and John have much to work through and overcome before they can get an HEA but I so enjoyed the ride. Mariah’s mother and her friends are hilarious, as are some of Mariah’s clients. Lots of backstory, some serious issues that these two need to work thru (from their pasts) before each can move on. I truly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more of the series.
