I really enjoyed this story a lot of mystery and suspense also. With love blooming all things in a book I like. Lorana Hoopes you can always find a good christian book clean and so full of surprises. One of the reasons I love her books.
Bubba Campbell is living his new identity he received five years ago. Then Police Captain Makenna comes to ask him to go back to his old life and let his family know he isn’t really dead. The arsonist that tried to kill him as Matt Fisher has started killing by fire again. Will they be able to finally end these murders working together as a team? There are several suspects and one is his foster sister. This is a great Christian mystery with a little romance also.
Never Forget The Past is a jaw dropping, breath holding, roller coaster of suspense all while two people find the one they truly love. When Makenna and Bubba go back to Fire Beach, home for Bubba and hopefully the new home for Makenna, they stop at the bed and breakfast Makenna was to stay at while visiting Fire Beach and another crime has happened there to the owner Cara. It goes directly into the start of her story leaving you hanging on Bubba and Makenna. This story ends “Want to find out what happened to Cara? Be sure to read Secrets and Suspense”. I would have loved to find out in this story if Makenna decides to move to Fire Beach and what becomes of Bubba and her new love.
Never Forget the Past (The Men of Fire Beach #3) was another great read by Lorana Hoopes. Bubba has a troublesome past that comes back when Makenna comes back into his life. We find out that Bubba had to change his name and start his life over in a new town. But Makenna is investigating more arson/murders that are cropping up again and must get Bubba’s help to find out what is going on. I enjoyed reading Makenna and Bubba’s story and can’t wait to read more by Lorana Hoopes.
I was given a free copy of this Audiobook In exchange for an honest review. Bubba AKA Matt Fisher escaped death and had to start a new life in a different town. But after many years the fire threat is back and McKenna needs his help. Can McKenna protect Matt and capture the killer? Definitely recommend the whole collection is great!

This story in the series is my favorite one up to now.
Five years ago, Bubba/Max had been a suspect in the fires that killed three women, until he was the victim. His family and friends were made to believe he had perished in the fire, hoping the killings would stop. But when they start after the 5 year hiatus, the woman that encouraged him to leave, Captain Makenna , reaches out to him and once again, Bubba is back home. Sadly, the fires and deaths continue.
As the danger heightens, so do the feelings between Bubba and Makenna. Will they be able to solve the murders and find love, or will the danger come between them?
Another well narrated story by the author and one worth your time.
A very intriguing story with good characters. Makenna & Bubba work well together, even though it’s a difficult situation. The mystery was good and kept you guessing because there were several suspects. The romance was lovely and I look forward to reading more about them in future books. (HINT! HINT!) A really good addition to this series.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Never Forget the Past got my interest right from the start because the reader is in the killer’s head, a female arsonist; but doesn’t stay there. I liked both main characters, police captain Makenna Drake and firefighter Matt Fisher (aka Billy Bubba Campbell.) I especially liked that Matt, to avoid being mocked at the fire station, hid his classic literature under his mattress! Both Christian characters are devoted to the safety of others. The plot has twists and turns and several possible candidates for the villain. I failed to figure out who it was although I thought I had a couple of times. There were clues, but I just missed them. The book is fast-paced and well written. I plan to read more of this author and the other upcoming books in this series. I would highly recommend this book to readers of clean/wholesome romantic suspense and to Christian romantic suspense readers. I got my copy through KU.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Wow, this book sure took me for a ride! I couldn’t put this book down. Matt Fisher has been living in Fire Beach for the past 5 years but going by the name of Billy “Bubba” Campbell. Captain Makenna Drake of Woodville PD has an arsonist/murderer on her hands. There has not been a fire in 5 years but they are starting up again. Who is the arsonist? Also what do the victims have in common?
This story is one that was riveting. The only clue the reader gets is in the beginning and that the arsonist is a female. Several strong contenders appear that kept me guessing. During the time that Bubba/Matt and Makenna investigate, the attract between them start to grow. Unfortunately they can’t act on the attraction as it will detract them from the task at hand but also it is unprofessional.
I adored getting glimpses into the two main protagionst’s thoughts along with the perpetrator. I was really off on who the arsonist was. But the author did a fabulous job in keeping me guessing.
If you love murder, mystery and intrigue with your romance, then you will want to read this one. This was a clean romance so I would recommend this to anyone.
Another great clean romantic suspense book by Lorana! She has such a way of coming up with terrific characters and drawing you into the story. A wonderful page turner! A definite must for your TBR list!
I was hooked from the first page when the serial arsonist struck and described her thoughts during the killing. I thought she was several people throughout the book, but I didn’t know who until it was revealed near the end. Bubba was a great secondary character in the previous books in this series, so I was happy to see him receive his own story and romance with Mckenna. The killer keeps striking and it was hard to find the connection to tie her to the original murders five years ago and determine her identity, so I felt for Mckenna and Bubba’s stress and frustration. This was a highly suspenseful Christian romance with plenty of twists and turns.
An amazing well written romantic suspense. This clean engaging storyline had me addicted page after page with intrigue, romance, family drama, plenty of suspects, and lots of twists and turns. The characters are realistic, interesting, and well developed with loads of chemistry as they try to track down the arsonists suspect after suspect. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
Oh wow! Lorana Hoopes has written a remarkable story about a small town where several murders had taken place 5 years before. Each victim died by arson and had ties to Matt Fisher, until the day his house was set ablaze. Believing that his “death” may stop the killings, Makenna, the police officer tasked with finding the arsonist, reported his death and helped to relocate Matt and establish a new identity in another town.
Five years pass with no recurring fires. Suddenly, the arsonist strikes again. McKenna reaches out to Matt and asks him to return to his original home, hoping that his “resurrection from the dead” rattles the culprit into making mistakes.
This is a clean whodunit that kept me on the edge of my seat. There is great character development, the plot is sound and the writing exceptional. As the characters work their way through possible suspects, their belief in God helps to ground them and open their hearts to a relationship.
All details are wrapped up and a HFN conclusion is reached. But in the final words of the book, groundwork is laid for the next book in this awesome series.
This was great. Full of suspense and trying to figure out who the murderer was immersed you in the investigation. Well plotted and kept me intrigued. Best of all it was clean and had a touch of faith. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
The arsonist/killer is back and the last “victim” is in danger again. This one kept me guessing until the end. Can captain Makenna keep Bubba/Matt safe or ? In the midst of the mystery and danger love is brewing. A great ending and another good book in this series.
I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I enjoyed reading Lorana’s latest book in the Men of Fire Beach series. The characters were heartwarming and the plot held my interest and keep me guessing until almost the end. Great Job, Lorana.
OMG! Tons of Mystery and suspense. Tying tk figure out who the arsonist is with a lot of suspects. I couldn’t put down.
The touch of romance makes it that much sweeter and realistic.
I highly recommend this book and series.
Author Lorana Hoops is a must read author for me.
Always like a little mystery! This book had me picking the firebug several times and I was always wrong! I really enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to anyone who reads mystery and romance books!
In her newest book, Never Forget the Past, Lorana Hoopes brings readers into the mind of an arsonist and brings a dead man back to life. No, this is not a paranormal story, but one where a man fakes his death so that he can escape from the person who was trying to kill him. I feel that Never Forget the Past is one of Ms. Hoopes best books. She created a story with the right mix of intrigue, family drama, and romance. In the first chapter, readers get a glimpse into the mind of a serial killer and the story takes off from there. Imagine the havoc and emotional turmoil that’s created when a man who was thought to be dead for the past five years, shows up in the company of the Police Captain. The storyline has depth and the characters are realistic. I enjoyed the book; it captivated me. I think that anyone who reads romantic suspense would enjoy reading Never Forget the Past.
