A Season of Shakespeare Continues…Miss Violet Havisham is in a bind. Having agreed to help her twin brother disappear from London for a spell, she now finds that his presence is needed by Whitehall, to help them catch a spy. Not only that, but the man who has summoned him, is none other than the formidable Duke of Orsino.Afraid of letting Sebastian down, Violet foolishly decides to try and … decides to try and impersonate her brother, but quickly finds that this involves sharing very close quarters with a devilishly handsome duke. To further add to her woes, Orsino decides that he has taken a shine to the real Violet, and soon she is battling against her attraction to the duke on two fronts.
Jack Pennelegion, the sixth Duke of Orsino, assumed his title following his brother’s tragic death. Having spent a decade on the continent, fighting under Wellington, Jack has little to no experience in dealing with the female of the species. But once he spots Violet Havisham, Jack knows that he will have to cast his nerves aside, in order to make her his bride.
When chance hands Jack the opportunity to work with Violet’s brother, he seizes it, hoping that the lad might help him with his cause. But Sebastian is oddly set against the duke wooing his sister, and the lady herself seems determined to fight against her attraction to him.
As Violet struggles to navigate her two roles, she begins to fall in love with the duke, who is not so fearsome as he first appears. But when the truth is revealed, will Orsino forgive her for trying to fool him?
This sweet Regency Romance is based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and is sure to delight readers of laugh-out-loud Regency Romps.

I love a good wallflower Regency romance and this one based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night had plenty of drama, humor, and wonderful characters. Jack, the Duke of Orsino came off as gruff and brutish, but he could be a sweet gentle giant underneath. Violet, who vowed not to marry and purse her dreams as a painter is very close to her twin brother Sebastian. When Sebastian is off secretly chasing an acting dream he is asked to use his translation skills by Jack and Violet is forced to dress like and pretend to be him in front of Jack. It was hard to see how Jack didn’t wonder about “Sebastian” when he giggled like a girl and looked so delicate. He falls for Violet, but she fears his reaction if he learns about her deception. Meanwhile, Jack’s deceased older brother’s fiancé Lady Olivia is attracted to “Sebastian.” Like the original play it was quite the farce and I laughed and shook my head many times reading it.
The storyline was wonderfully written and the characters were created with such great detail and depth that I was totally captivated until the turn of the very last page!
I just love this series and all the wonderful characters involved. Claudia Stone is a brilliant author who has once again written a captivating tale about days long past, this time involving invisible children, neglectful/determined parents, sibling love, pride, deceit, forgiveness, strong women, friendship, hope, and love. And Aunt Phoebe who deserves her very own category. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of Never Fool a Duke, but that did not affect my review.
The second book in the Wilful Wallflowers series a well written story that kept me smiling as I read. This is Miss Violet Havisham and Jack Pennelegion, the sixth Duke of Orsino’s story. Sebastian and Violet are twins that are very close. Aunt Phoebe and Dorothy her companion where something else. I hope there is more to come in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Great read full of action, plot and romance and overall suspense. I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Violet and Jack.
Born on a different day and in a different year you just know that Violet’s life would be different. Even at a tender age the twins would think of ways to cause problems but one kind of backfired for Violet. Thank God for Aunt Phoebe. We are now introduced to new characters Jack being just one and he will play a very big part in Violet’s life. This was really a charming tale Violet and her friends and Jack and his friends made for wonderful characters to enjoy. The piece is well written and the reading went way to fast it was entertaining. This is a book I highly recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Entertaining farce!
A lady in disguise.
Jack Pennelegion fought in Wellington’s army. After his brother’s death, he’s the new Duke of Orsino. He never expected to inherit the title. He’s not as secure as he looks, especially with one young lady. Lady Violet Havisham and her twin brother have a close bond. When Sebastian wants to follow the stage for a short time, Violet will cover for him. Translating coded letters was unexpected, especially translating letters from her father in Austria to Whitehall. Of course, these letters are delivered by Jack to Sebastian (Violet in disguise).
A misunderstanding either divides or conquers. More romance and bluestocking encounters than capturing a spy.
