♥ A sexy scientist♥ A nearsighted wallflower♥ A matchmaking mama♥ A Royal Society ball♥ Steamy romance!
Another irresistible romance featuring New York Times bestselling author Lauren Royal’s “outrageously funny, loyal, compassionate, and unconventional” Chase family!
The Ashcroft family motto is “Question Convention,” and eldest sister Lady Violet agrees with the sentiment completely. For one … with the sentiment completely. For one thing, she’s not planning to marry. Plain Violet is smart enough to realize any suitors would be after her large inheritance, or else interested in her beautiful younger sisters—and she’d much rather spend her time reading her beloved books than risking her tender heart…
Ford Chase, the Viscount Lakefield, has never spent much time around children…until he finds his young niece dropped in his lap. Although five-year-old Jewel is adorable, she’s also an annoying, unwelcome distraction from his scientific pursuits. Lucky for Ford, the matchmaking matriarch next door comes to his rescue—by sending her uncommonly intelligent daughter Violet to help…

Violet’s father loves his plants and has named his daughters after flowers. Violet is very sensible and decides that she will not marry. Ford Chase is an brilliant eccentric man whose brother has asked him to care for his young niece, to prevent her from contracting Measles from the rest of the family. The story is witty and fun
I loved reading this book.
Awesome historical romance. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great historical romance book. The author kept the story going & I couldn’t stop reading until I finished the entire book in one day.
Interesting historical settings
Enjoyable reading, somewhat predictable, but then, it’s a romance novel.
Liked this book, and would read the next two, but not available in my local library system.
Excellent characters, world building and plot. Not to mention it’s nice and steamy in a real seeming way. I love this series.
Violet is the oldest sister and loves to read. She has great difficulty seeing distances and is quite upset when her mother ropes her into bringing her young brother to play with their neighbor’s niece. The neighbor is a scientist and makes her concave lenses and wires so she can see. They are attracted to each other but she cannot believe that …
I enjoyed reading this….the scientific details and unique characters make it stand out from most historical romances. Of course, there is a HEA ending. :o)
Just as charming as her other books. Thoroughly enjoyable series, interesting family
Excellent reading for those who love good romantic story-telling. A cliff-hanger story of star-crossed lovers, who find the answers to who they are inside because of the troubles they must go through to find each other.
I liked how the author weaved true historical events and people into the story.
After reading Amethyst I continued with the series and read this one. Easy to read and entertaining.
Nicely done.
Predictable but very pleasant characters. Will probably read the rest of the series.
Enjoyed the book and the characters. Have liked all the Chase family.
Loved it!
Live Lauren’s book. The characters are so vivid.
Easy read that held my interest, I really liked the characters
Love everything by this author!
