The Ashcroft family motto is “Question Convention,” and eldest sister Lady Violet agrees with the sentiment completely. For one … with the sentiment completely. Ford Chase, the Viscount Lakefield, has never spent much time around children…until he finds his young niece dropped in his lap. Although five-year-old Jewel is adorable, she’s also an annoying, unwelcome distraction from his scientific pursuits. Violet is a sweet and inventive, very unusual and quite extraordinary story one does not find very often. Both main characters, Violet and Ford, have something about them that makes them unforgettable. Violet is nearsighted, and when Ford makes her a pair of glasses that is such a sweet moment when she suddenly sees the world as it truly is for …
A very fun book!
A truly Wonderful Book. Violet Ashcroft & Ford Chase’s Journey to HEA was Absolutely Wonderful.
I really enjoyed the Story, Characters & Scenes. The Children in this Story was Spectacular. I truly Loved reading about Jewel & Rowan’s friendly jests & how blunt Jewel was.
I laughed so hard at her antics & her scheming.
Violet was a Wonderful & …
I didn’t want this book to end. Wonderful read.
Love this and I have really enjoyed the series. I love how the characters are developed and being a series they enter twine with the other main characters in previous books. I would recommend reading the series in order
Read a couple of these: they are entertaining with good character development. Nice depth in the plot. Very enjoyable.
Violet is book 1 from Lauren Royal’s Chase Family: The Flowers series. Based in England 1673, this series follows the Ashcroft sisters.
Violet is the eldest sister and as a Earl’s daughter she has a large inheritance. For this reason she believes that any suitor would be after her dowry not her plain self.
Ford Chase is Viscount Lakefield who …
A wonderful, charming and funny story which had me laughing out loud. Similar in style to Rose Gordon, another author who knows how to add just the right amount of humor into her stories without making her characters appear clownish or imbecilic. The Ashcrofts are quirky but adorably so. I couldn’t put it down.
Thoroughly enjoyed Royal’s book, Violet. Even though it’s part of a series, I lost nothing in the enjoyment by not having read the others. I am now reading Amethyst. Her characters have unique traits that make them stand out and seem real. Fun historical read.
Wonderful and easy to read
Easy to read
Violet, Chase Family Series: The Flowers Book 1 is a delightful romance by Lauren Royal. Ford Chase was dumped by his fiance and retreats to his rundown estate. He is saddled with the care of his niece Jewel when his brother’s family comes down with the measles. His neighbor, Lady Chrystabel, sends her blue-stocking daughter Violet to accompany …
I enjoyed Violet and Fords love story so much I ordered the sequel , “Lily”. I am a hopeless romantic and this had just the right amount of romance for me.
I enjoy all of Lauren’s novels. Especially enjoy they can stand alone even though they are a series. Can’t get enough of her continuing family sagas.
Great read, let’s you unwind after a bad day.
I throughly enjoyed Violet. She has so much character and curiosity. Especially when she discovers the human body. While I have no idea when eyeglasses were fabricated I sympathized feelings embarrassment as a fellow nearly blind reader. Currently reading Lilly. I’m anxious to read more of this family and the coming of age of the daughters.
Have read the complete series and loved them all
I thought the book was a wonderful read. In fact I am looking for any book by Lauren Royal. I am hooked.
As a history junky, I love me good historical detail and this book has that without getting bogged down. There are liberties taken but it didn’t pull me out of the story. As for the romantic pair, they were delightful even when I wanted to bang their heads together.
Loved this book. Great story!
