Never Date A Siren is the first novel in the College Fae Magic series by Byrd Nash. This is my first novel by this author.
Far and humans coexist at the Leopoldo Ottos University.
When Brigit gets kicked out of her apartment, she is looking for a new roommate. Only issue, the person also looking for a roommate is a human and she’s never lived with a human before. What could go wrong?
This was a great start to a series and I can’t wait to read this again while waiting for the next novel.
Filled with twist and turns, I couldn’t tell where the story was going to go.
Brigit was a great character and I wonder what is going to happen next for her.
For anyone looking for a short fun read, I recommend.
This book was such an interesting and enjoyable read that I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading all day just so I could finish it, and now I’ve read it I just want to read it again to get lost in this fascinating world that Byrd Nash has created.
This book follows Brigit, a cheeky Fae and a human called Logan Dannon who unfortunately comes to discover that being thrown into the Fae world isn’t all that magic and wonder. Through a few unfortunate incidents and issues, Logan has had to turn to Brigit for help, but he didn’t realise just how deeply the Fae take these sorts of things. We follow these two through their adventure to right a wrong, but what does the future hold for these two? Will they be successful? Will they both pass their semester? You’ve got to read it to find out.
Nash has such a fluid way of writing and creating this book/world and a brilliant way of throwing in plot twists that just grip you from the first page and you don’t realise you are halfway through the book until you look up and see. For me this is a mark of a truly good book and a fantastic writer.
From the get-go we are introduced to our main protagonist and the wit, humour and magic are all involved in making this a page-turner. Nash is a brilliant writer in the way they have created this fascinating balance between magic and the ‘real-world’, you become invested in all the characters, history and the narrative. You can’t help but imagine yourself stood beside these characters going through their adventures. But Nash doesn’t just have two-dimensional characters, but each with their flaws and virtues shown, this just makes the characters leap off the pages and become more relatable to the reader.
We are introduced to new characters, new relationships and a mixture of history in this book in such a charismatic and fluid way you don’t even question it. There is something overly charming about how all the characters meet and interact, plus the plot twists that appear in the book that just overall makes this book such an enjoyable read. When you think you have got a handle on which way the book is going to go, Nash throws you another twist and keeps leading you on through the story at a quick and effortless pace.
If you are looking for a mixture of magic, mysterious creatures and something that is just an enjoyable read then this is the book for you!
I cannot wait to read the rest of this series and see what other mischief will occur for this group of characters and to see the rest of this amazing world the Nash has created.
College Life; finals, and the Fae trying to kill you….
Never Date a Siren is the first book in the college Fae series, where we are introduced to unique characters in a magical world of Bewacherberg, where humans and Fae come together.
American college student, Logan Dannon, discovers his fellow fae students operate under a different code of honour to what he is accustomed to. The only way of hoping to survive the semester, is to is to decipher their tangled laws of civility.
Brigit, a fae runaway, didn’t plan on getting a human roommate. Or that she would be placed under a fairy debt. It will be down to Brigit to try and save Logan from a siren’s love spell, or will she will this be unsuccessful and fail the semester? She is a stickler for a fae law, and she is determined to fulfil this when needed.
I loved reading this book, it was such an easy read and the story flowed magically within the beautiful world of fantasy this story was built in. It was humorous at times when Brigit spoke to her floor mat and flowers and I absolutely loved how the writer wove these two worlds of the human and fae together seamlessly.
This is a wonderfully charming book, where the writer really makes you stir your imagination and brings a fairytale into the supernatural, with a suspenseful twist. I could not wait to read the next chapter and I enjoyed every part.
I cannot wait for the next instalment to see what is next for these delightful characters.
I give Never Date a Siren: A College Fae magic series #1 by Byrd Nash, 5 stars!
This book was absolutely amazing! This is my favorite genre, but it went above and beyond what I was expecting. It is fun, exciting and suspenseful all wrapped into one. The characters have huge personalities and I can’t say I’ve read a book where the main character is a dryad. I like how the author incorporates creatures we do not normally see in supernatural books. Not only that, she quickly explains what they are to those who do not know. That earns bonus points in my book.
Then there’s the story itself. Again, very unique. It takes the woman scorned angle and spins it for a wild ride. A curse is placed on a human and Brigit is determined to break the curse. That is just the very start of it though, there is really so much more involved. Most of it takes place in college in an absolutely amazing little town, but that is not all. This adds to it even more. I cannot wait to read the next book!
If you like fun, quirky urban fantasy with a great story and amazing characters, this book is for you.
Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash
4 Stars
This is the first book that I have read from this author. I really enjoyed it and will definitely look for more books written by her. I thought this book was quite interesting and original. The thing I loved best was the fact that the author used less “popular” supernatural beings. There were dryads, naiads, sirens, and a bard; not the usual vampires and werewolves.
The story takes place at Leopold Otto University in a country that the Fae have kept hidden for decades. It is the only school where both human and fae attend. Brigit, à dryad princess, never thought that she would have a human for a roommate but this is the situation she finds herself in. The Fae live by a different code of conduct so when Brigit realizes Logan is in serious trouble with a siren, she needs to help him. What ensues next is a fast paced adventure of tightrope walking between debts of honour and laws of civility. Can Logan survive? This is an imaginative story filled with charming characters. It’s a definitive must read!
This book is a great story about the supernatural world and how they work together to get rid of negative people. Brigit is a college student and also fae. After a close call a guy called Logan stops her from drinking something thats been drugged. This action leads Brigit to be in his debt and the way she sees to pay him back is to remove the curse of his ex girlfriend off him.
Sibyl is a siren, who captured Logan’s heart in more ways than one and since they split she is using her powers to slowly kill him.
Can Brigit with the help of her fae friends find a way to save Logan or is Sibyl going to get away with it.
Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash – Review by Gail Guerrero
Four Stars
I enjoy a story that centers around far and humans living together. Makes you want to believe in fairytales. The story centers around Logan and Brigit. Logan is a human with some secrets of his own. Brigit is a fae who ran away just looking for a place to lay her head. The author built a world were fae and humans live together. A world built on a balance system. I really liked getting to know Brigit. Her life was really interesting and sad. Logan lacked too much for me to really get into him. I do understand the reason why but it doesn’t stop me from rolling my eyes. I enjoyed the plot and the characters growth. The story did drag but it’s worth the read. There are some funny moments that had me face palming. Overall I really couldn’t find a reason not to read the book. Fae are interesting creatures that keep you on your toes. The author had a nice flow while writing this story. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Life is full of surprises and this story holds many.
Never Date a Siren: A College Fae magic series #1
by Byrd Nash
This story kept me captivated with wonderful characters and an original plot. We are introduced to different kinds of fae and things they can do. There are different dynamics going on in this book and it keeps this story intriguing and kept me reading. The more I read the more I found myself liking Brigit and her bondmates. I think there is more to Logan than meets the eye and I hope to learn more about all these characters in the next book in this series. I cannot wait to read what’s in store for us in the next book. This was a very well written, original and magical read. I recommend this book, it is a great start to the series.

Never Date a Siren by Byrd Nash
Never Date a Siren is the first book in the sci-fi fantasy series about college fae by Byrd Nash. I enjoy YA books because they’re usually easy going and smooth reads. Unfortunately sometimes I do get a little confused and frustrated when trying to keep things straight in sci-fi fantasy stories because there are sometimes too many different types of creatures or characters to keep straight in my mind. The types of beings in this book were so skillfully described by the author that they were easily pictured in my head. I didn’t even think about looking at the Glossary of Terms in the back and honestly felt like Ms. Nash did such a wonderful job that when I did get to that, I actually already had a good understanding of what things like the country, the septs, and the culture actually were.
I really enjoyed this story. An unexpected and overall amusing character in the book was Jib, who completely cracked me up. The realistic mannerisms, like him knocking over the goblets, were just great. If you enjoy young adult storylines with college aged shenanigans then having the fantasy side mixed in like in this story will be a refreshing treat. I look forward to reading more by this author, especially the next book in this series.
We start with been introduced to Brigit and her college journey. This is a very well written book bringing you into the fae society. How will the college student take to the laws of the fae after all they can be complicated. This great YA fantasy novel and i would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre of book. The characters are well written and you feel drawn into thier worlds.
This was a light, entertaining read. Brigit, a dryad, attends Leopold Otto University in Geheimetür. It’s a unique university in that it invites both humans and fae to study together. Unfortunately, that’s also a recipe for trouble. When Brigit is kicked out of her room halfway through the spring semester, her friend suggests that she move in with a human who has a spare room. The human, Logan, had just gotten out of a relationship with a Siren and is slowly dying as a result of being away from her. Brigit and Logan make a pact in which she can live with him in return for breaking the hold the siren has on him. Chaos follows, along with a lot more fae and a sassy cat fae…it’s complicated. But it sure is fun too.

Never Date A Siren: A College Fae Magic Series #1 by Byrd Nash is a wonderful Young Adult fantasy and my first read from this talented storyteller. I love a good fantasy, so the title intrigued me as soon as I saw it. It is full of paranormal beings, college life, humour, a little drama, debts, bonds, challenges, honour, lessons, magic- and is a light-hearted and charming coming of age story.
By a twist of fate, Logan and Brigit become roommates. Brigit is a Fae (Dryad), and Logan a human exchange student attending the Fae university- one where both human and fae are allowed to enrol. Though not at the academy long, Logan has already fallen under the fatal spell of a cold-hearted siren. His world has been turned upside down, his grades are suffering, his life and place at the University are under threat.
Brigit keeps her head down and tries to stay off the radar. She’s definitely the mysterious one. But another twist of fate has her indebted to Logan, and through her strong sense of honour and the Fae Laws of Civility she sets about ensuring her debt is paid- by breaking the siren’s spell that is slowly draining Logan. And so, the adventure begins. Throw in a host of paranormal creatures/beings, different realms, sneaky tricks, secrets, lessons, wonderful characters, and an intriguing storyline- and this story really takes off.
Byrd Nash has world building down to a fine art- creating a intricate world that springs from her imagination and comes to life upon the pages. The attention to detail in the world building is just superb- from fae customs, laws, history, clothing, speech, and all the many other finer points- nothing gets overlooked here- all blending together into a smooth, seamless and vivid image.
This is a fantastic way to start off a new series. I am definitely invested in the characters and I can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next book!
A fun read!!!
Thank you, Byrd Nash!
Never Date a Siren is a very apt title, as this book demonstrates throughout its entirety why you should never date a siren. I really enjoyed reading this book, it had a great plot and storyline. I feel like the events could have been a little more detailed and explained, while also on a clearer timeline. It makes more sense at the end, but in the beginning it was a little confusing, as the events seemed sporadically placed. I have no idea if there was a series or a set I was supposed to read before this one, but overall it was a good, entertaining story once the events caught up and became distinguished. I am intrigued to read the next in the series, and also can’t wait to read more from Byrd Nash.
This is the first book that i have read by this author and i thought it was was a good start. This is a YA paranormal story that kept me interested from page one. I read it in one setting and i liked that i felt like i was apart of the book. This story is about roommates, Bridget who is a fae and Logan who is a human that has magical abilities. Logan gets himself into a bit of trouble and Bridget my be the only one who can help save him from an insane love spell. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future!
Happy Reading!
Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash was a wonderful fantastical read. I enjoyed the world that was built and the mesh between fae and human. I adored Brigit as the main female lead. She was such a “wow” character with a unique perspective. I loved Brigit as being out guide through understanding the fae world and their expectations, it was a great way to build the world and introduce the reader to the implications of what is happening. Logan was a good character read, I found it interesting that the victim was the male lead but again it was a welcome change. I cannot wait to see what the author creates next in this series.
Never Date a Siren is the first book in the College Fae series by Byrd Nash. This is my first book by this author and it will not be my last. Nash has created a world of Fae that will make you feel like you are apart of that world. Her characters are complex and could very well be part of your world. In this story Bridget is a Fae and is very bull headed and Logan, who is human not sure what is going on due to his magical abilities that he did not know he had. I found myself so engrossed in the story that I could not put it down. I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the next book. Thank you Byrd Nash for this new series.
I have always had a niche for books about the Fae and especially when it has them mixing in with our modern reality, and ‘Never Date A Siren’ Was no exception. I absolutely adored this, and especially the twist when it came to Logan, I about died of excitement. I love Brigit and all the detail that Byrd Nash puts in of all the different septs of the Fae. I look forward to seeing so much more from Byrd and this series. I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy, humor, college life, a little bit of drama, and some amazing twists.
5 out of 5 Stars!
I have never had the pleasure of reading anything penned by Bryd Nash prior to picking up this book, Never Date a Siren, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into other than what I learned from the eye catching cover. I am glad that I took a gamble and dove right in. I think we have a new series that I can’t wait to read as it unfolds.
Never Date a Siren is the first book in the College Fae series so a great place to start obviously. This book sets us up for the series and gives us a bunch of info about our main characters Brigit and Logan. Brigit is entering her first year of college at the beautiful sounding Leopold Otto University. I loved the way this school was brought to life and how you felt as if you were right there and experiencing it first hand. I loved the action and adventure that comes as an unexpected twist to keep you on your toes. Of course there are going to be some fun and fascinating magical elements to keep you well enthralled as well. I won’t go into the details of the storyline so that you can discover them on your own unspoiled. I can’t wait to see what book two will bring us, and can only hope that it is soon that we find out!
Sirens are trouble. They trick you to loving them, leave you and then syphon the energy out of you all the while keeping you in their thrall. Sad right? Logan had no idea what he was getting into when he met his girlfriend Sybil the Siren. She has moved on from him and now he is feeling less like himself and stuck…until his chance run in with Brigit, dryad Fae, and she owns him for saving her. Can she get Sybil to release him from her clutches? Sybil doesn’t want to release the human and holds on tight. This journey takes them around the world and we meet all kinds of fun characters.
This is very imaginative. I liked it and the characters were intriguing. The monsters under the bed and in the closets as well as the kelpies and Brigit’s amazing talent of talking to everything were interesting. The door mat was neat! I liked the brownies too.
Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash
5-Stars
Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash was an exciting first addition to this series. Logan is placed under a Siren’s spell at the start of his freshman year of college. Brigit is also a freshman who is needing a new place to stay and happens to find that Logan has a spare room. The two become mixed up in a mess and she is set on freeing him from the Siren’s spell. This story was fascinating and mystical. I loved the different septs and type of fae in each. The storyline was also easy to follow and magical. The scenery was descriptive and easy to visualize. I cannot wait to read the next book. I loved this novel and could bot set it down. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more from this author.
