Book Review
Title: Never Ashamed (Chosen Narratives, #3)
Author: Sabrina Kade
Genre: Romance/Sci-Fi
Rating: ****
Review: So, after loved the first book in this series and then being slighted disappointed with Never Tamed I wasn’t sure what to expect from Never Ashamed but the ending of Never Tamed set up a nice premise for this novel. Once again, we re-join Hollis and Chimase who have Chosen each other and now much face the realities of Sidyth society. Never Ashamed introduces us to Hollis and Chimase’s new life as mates but despite all this Hollis is conscious of the fact that Sidyth laws don’t recognise true mating until the female squeezes the male until he passes out, but this is something Hollis could never physically achieve.
As Chimase has to attend a dinner with his father and Hollis, he is torn about what to do especially after his actions in Never Tamed and they decide until they figure out their situation it is best for Hollis to act like any other service worker during the dinner, but this deeply upsets both Hollis and Chimase. I also found despite the fact they talk to each other often they are many misunderstandings which I feel shouldn’t have happened because Hollis should understand certain facets of Sidyth society and should be able to translate her feelings in a way that Chimase can accurately understand.
The ending of Never Ashamed was interesting as it doesn’t take us up to the events that start the Rebels of Sidyth series like I was expecting but there are whispers of discontent flowing through Sidyth society which hint greatly at the mass exile of Sidyth males and Chimase is one of the first. Despite this I was wholly content with the ending, but it did provide closure to the series and characters, but I would have like to have seen some of the other Sidyths before their exile.
I loved the conclusion to this series. I am hoping this series meets with the other series in future books. I have never been into alien genre books but Sabrina Kade has changed that, at least with her books. I highly recommend this book.

Chimase & Hollis romance blooms & blossoms throughout the narrative. Character’s elements are vivid.

Led by the giant hand of a male Sidyth, Hollis sees only darkness surrounding her. She is afraid and wants Chimase to be called, but the huge male tells her to remain silent. He would answer no questions and she would remain blindfolded until the man she was being delivered to decided her fate. She smells a roses and apples scent that it unfamiliar to her. The man that approached saw she was terrifying, breathing heavily, and she suddenly realized this was Chimase. She had agreed to the blindfold to get a surprise – but it didn’t include the huge stranger that brought her here and let her fear build!
While she is asked to keep the blindfold on, she listens as Chimase and Bentas talk. Bentas is evidently applying for a guard position and Chimase tells him he is hired. When Bentas leaves, Chimase pulls off the blindfold for the surprise. In his shockingly white lair, like all places on Sidetha, there is no color – but now Hollis sees a bright orange blanket, a green towel on a counter, brilliant pink balls in a dish – COLORS! Chimase knew how important colors were to humans, so he made changes for his Chosen. And when he was researching pleasure for humans, he saw blindfolds so thought she would enjoy that touch!
But there are roadblocks up ahead for Chimase and Hollis. His father wants to see her, and it is obvious that the thought is not at all pleasant for Chimase when he tells her. He wanted his father to accept that he has chosen a human as his mate, but he would not treat her like a service worker or do anything else to make her somehow tolerable. Chimase refuses to make her feel like she is of less value that he is, but his refusal has serious consequences for them. What his father wants from him is abominable. Will he stand by his mate and accept exile? Or will he side with his family?
This book took me by surprise since I had not realized it was Book 3. But it got me interested right away, and meeting Chimase, seeing how dedicated he was to Hollis that he would go to such effort to make her happy, I melted. The author did a great job with presenting the characters so that the reader learned a great deal about them from their actions, both good and bad. I really liked Bentas and his interactions with Chimase and Hollis. The story line was paced well and kept the reader involved. Grab your copy and see the fate of Chimase and Hollis! Where will their future take them?
I love how sweet and caring that Chimase is towards Hollis. It is awesome that in a word full of hard hearted males that Chimase can be such a softie and be more in touch with his emotions. I love that Hollis finally pulls her head out of the sand and realizes what a great guy she has and how willing he is to stand by her side. This is a great conclusion to this series.
