I guess I decided I didn’t identify with cyberpunk.
This was a truly revelational book whose content is continuing to become reality.
A Sci-Fi Classic
Written in 1985 by the godfather of cyberpunk, the very man who coined the term cyberspace, “Neuromancer” turned out to be so forward thinking that it eerily rivals “1984” in its ability to predict the future. While some of the tech may seem a bit out of date now, the moral implications & practical dilemmas of a big data culture, an AI …
It’s a classic of Cyberpunk – what else is there to say? Only gave it 4 stars b/c Gibson’s done much better since….
The seminal work that launched the cyberpunk genre.
Great for futurists.
The classic that started the genre of cyberspace novels. An original and richly imagined work of science fiction.
Seminal noir tale of a disgraced hacker recruited by a front man for a shadowy artificial intelligence to help it break free of human control.
It’s a weird book, but revolutionary in a way.
The original and still the best cyberpunk book. Gibson may not have invented cyberpunk, but he is clearly the grandmaster of the genre. This is probably the best of his cyberpunk books!
This is the seminal cyber-punk novel. It is amazingly engaging.
Reading this book is a lot like falling down the rabbit hole. You are dropped into the story world without any guidance, and you have to figure it out as you go along. It requires that you sort of unfocus your mind and just let it wash over you. It’s hard to describe the feeling, but it’s definitely a mind trip. This was my first introduction to …
Outstanding!
Neuromancer is fantastic. The source of the cyberpunk genre.
Neuromancer was the first of many cyberpunk novels and it is the landmark story that everyone should read. It is a bit dated from a technology standpoint but still leads the pack in what can be.
Great sci fi and great writing.
This book effectively brought cyberpunk into the mainstream, acquainting countless people with the gritty, noire and predictive power of the genre. Decades later, Gibson’s portrayal of a world where corporate monopolies rule, freelance hackers the new soldiers, and information is the most precious commodity still holds up. It was also in this …
Great book, I read it many years ago and felt it was pretty hard cutting edge science fiction. Now many authors have explored altered cyber reality this may not seem so new but I highly recommend this book. A classic that I found sucked into a quick read.
William Gibson is always an exceptional futuristic storyteller.
