Two people from completely different worlds are about to be thrown together…
In more ways than one.
She wants to keep her scholarship. He wants to stay on the team. An awkward alliance doesn’t even begin to cover Rimmel and Romeo’s relationship.
But that’s about to change.
It starts with a dare. An initiation. A challenge.
Quickly, it turns into more. But when you’re a victim of your … But when you’re a victim of your status, there is no room for anything real. The rules are clear and simple.
Stick to your circle.
And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

When I started this book my first thought was, ahhh I’ve read so many similar books to this it will be like deja vu but I really fell in love with the characters and in the end I enjoyed this book far more than I initially thought I would.
This book was cute. There is always slot of drama in college then add in the star foot ball player who’s also a player and a bunch of crazy girls who all want him.
Roman aka Romeo takes what ever he wants with no apologies. He’s sexy funny and awesome at foot ball he has a new flavor of the of day all the time. His only problem? School work can’t be in college and not pass the classes. The dean and coach make him get tutoring 3 days a week.
Rimmel has no desire to have friends or do anything more than volunteer at the animal shelter and become a vet but when she’s told she has to Tudor a foot ball player because it’s the terms of her scholarship she must.
Can she take this bad boy and teach him or will she just end up doing his work?
Romeo is rushing for his dads fraternity and it’s a lot more than he expected. With one dare that should be easy turns into more will he do the right thing or the douche thing??
Rimmel is forced to tutor Romeo, the star football player, to keep her scholarship. Zach is pledging a fraternity and is being asked to do some unthinkable things…one of which is getting Rimmel to sleep with him. But what happens when he genuinely starts falling for her?
She’s the nerdy tutor that just wants to be invisile. He’s the cliche jock that’s about to get schooled!
Romeo is the big man on campus. He has it all! Wealthy, football star, totally hot, every guy wants to be his friend and every girl wants to sleep with him. Well he has everythjng except passing grades. He’s on the edge of failing, so now he is getting a tutor.
Rimmel is quiet, withdrawn, shy, clumsy and just wants to fade into the background. She has school and her volunteer job at the animal shelter. She’s content with her quiet life. No friends, no drama and no complications.
It’s all about to change. Rimmel’s on scholarship and the Dean wants her to tutor the college’s football star, as part of the deal to keep her free ride. Now her nice quiet life is about to be turned upside down.
Even with his manwhore ways, Romeo was easy to love. That man just oozed charm. His honesty was so refreshing and a total turn on. He owned his past and even behavior he wasn’t proud of. That made him even more attractive. Rimmel was real and honest. You can’t help but love her and want to see her get the guy. And their chemistry was SMOKIN’ HOT!!!
This was a great group of characters that I hope to re-visit in future books! This was my first read by this author and now I’m hooked. A fantastic read!
This story was so adorable
#NERD (Hashtag Series Book 1) by Cambria Hebert is a new adult contemporary romance. The story is well known and familiar: nerdy girl tutors popular jock and they fall in love. We’ve all heard it numerous times. This story is nothing new. Even so, I really liked it!
I enjoyed the characters and liked Rimmel immediately. She was smart, sweet, awkward, self-conscious and kindhearted. I took a little longer to warm up to Romeo. He initially came across as an arrogant douche, but as the story progressed he showed strength, integrity, and a tender heart. He completely won me over, and I was rooting for their happy ending.
This book was engaging, lighthearted, feel-good fun.
Read back in 2014
This is my first book by this author. I really enjoyed reading the characters and how different they were. Sometimes I wanted to slap Romeo upside the head but Rimmel totally held her own. It was a really cute story and I can’t wait for the second one to come out!
#Nerd was SO amazing! I absolutely loved this one! The story drew me in immediately and once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. I read over half the book when I should have been sleeping. I only stopped because I knew it would only be a few hours before my daughter would be waking up and I needed to get some rest. I just couldn’t get enough though! As soon as I got the chance, I continued reading.
The characters (especially Romeo) were very easy to fall in love with and the story was very realistic and very reminiscent of college life.
I really liked that there were equal parts romance, emotion, and sexiness (HELLO! That library scene in the beginning!!).
I loved Rimmel and her story. We all have felt like her at times and I found her very easy to relate to. We seemed to have a lot in common, her and I. And Murphy! I wish I could have Murphy.
Romeo… Oh, Romeo. We all know someone like him or went to school with someone like him. The popular jock that gets all the girls, has the best luck, and no matter how much you hate to admit it, is devilishly good looking. It was nice to see his journey from player to boyfriend throughout the book, to see the other side of things. I’m really happy that his character had his own point of view chapters.
Overall, I LOVED #Nerd and I absolutely cannot wait to dive into #Hater.
“I loved the honesty animals lived by. Nothing about them was fake. They showed how they were feeling without apology.”- Rimmel
Rimmel is sort of blackmailed into tutoring Roman/Romeo so he won’t get kicked off the team. At first neither of them really were happy about that idea. Romeo was going to rush for the Alpha Omegas. The challenge the pledges had was to bed a girl and take a picture for proof. The set back was that the brothers of Omega would choose the pledges girl that they had to get in bed. Along with this they had to do other tasks.
Zach, who was the president of the Omegas, doesn’t like Romeo and he has made that perfectly clear. So Zach chooses Rimmel to be the girl Romeo has to get to bed in order to be initiated in. It almost seemed like a dare from Zach to Romeo. Romeo wasn’t backing down.
As he gets closer to Rimmel he starts becoming more protective. But it all comes down to one Friday night, the Omegas’ frat party. Zach wants Romeo to bring Rimmel.
This book almost reminded me of She’s All That. You know that high school movie with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Paul Walker. He dares her to make a prom queen out of Laney the “unattractive” girl. Yeah this book was almost like that. A little bit better story that She’s All That.
I also have a big guess on why Zach doesn’t like that Romeo has Rimmel. A very big guess.
I am so in love with Romeo and Rimmel!!!! I had a goofy grin on my face the whole time. The story may be a bit clique but that doesn’t matter. It’s a sweet and funny story, and I loved every second of it. The writing style of Cambria was just amazing and this definitely won’t be my last book of hers.
Hands down one of my favorite books ever!! I read the whole series and look at the characters like they are friends. A must read!!!
The two main character grew because of each other
If you have ever been to college then you have to suspend reality to get through this book and definitely the others! I have enjoyed this author and liked this book. The dialogue was great, the slow build worked. It was a cute, college romance read. I could easily see the movie. I will say there is repetition in statements– do we need to know over and over about his hellcat car and how it can remote start???
The length is a product of the often unnecessary focus on details that can leave you rolling your eyes. But it was still an enjoyable read with characters that had depth and emotional complexity. I wish I had not continued on with the series because the need to concoct drama left me feeling like I was reading a telenovela and I grew resentful of the story, characters, and author. Some traumas should not be frivolous plot devices. Read this one and seriously consider stopping there!
I was pretty disappointed once the jock decides to shame the nerd. I kind of quit after that.
Loved this book! Bought the whole series one I finished it and made a weekend of them all. Romeo is the perfect hero. The playboy with great possibilities who matures into the man of everyone’s dreams – with the help of the one girl who wanted nothing to do with him (of course). Yes, it’s an age old story but told with a modern day take and wonderfully developed characters who you actually care about.
Not that you have to read the entire series, but I recommend you do because you’ll find hints to an over arching story (that you didn’t even realize was there) sprinkled though out, culminating in the final book. Looking forward to additional work by this author.
A fun, cute read. Quite enjoyable but not one that sticks with you long after.
4.5 well deserved stars
“He was every #nerd’s fantasy. But he wasn’t a fantasy. He was mine.”
Even though #Nerd reminded me a lot of “She’s All That” (the movie with Freddie Prinze Jr.) I had a great time reading it.
I adored Rimmel and her great personality. I love the way she always held her head up high and stood her ground to all the mean and bitchy people on campus. And I totally can relate why she thought animals are better than humans. Because animals are honest, you know what to expect.
And Romeo surprised me. He’s totally not what he seems to be. Again a reminder that you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. I love men who show backbone and change to be the man the girl deserves.
It was great to read how Romeo slowly fell for Rimmel and I myself could so totally relate to her. I felt like it could have been me. Their chemistry shot of the charts as soon as they first kissed. And even though their attraction was the magnet that always pulled them together the story was more about how they fell for each other. And nothing felt rushed.
#Nerd is a fantastic start to the Hashtag Series and I won’t miss out on the following books.
Wonderful characters! Great read!
A little to predictable
Cute book. Very “Sixteen Candles” and who doesn’t love that movie.
