KYLIEHe started our war–I intend to finish it.Buying a house in the suburbs was supposed to be low stress: my own little haven to decorate and landscape exactly how I want. Instead I find myself locking my garbage can to keep pests out–pests that are six-foot-one, green-eyed, and far too good looking. My trespassing neighbor is rude and entitled. It isn’t long before war is declared and I find … declared and I find myself stooping to immature pranks.
When trouble lands at my door, my unlikely neighbor starts knocking on my heart. Was I ready to answer?
HAGEN
I will win no matter what it takes.
I moved to this neighborhood for a fresh start. The one thing I’m not looking for is a relationship, so when I mistakenly assume my neighbor is hitting on me, I lash out at her.
I didn’t mean to start the war, but now she taunts me from across the street. Our harmless pranks have become the highlight of my day. I should stay away–but I can’t. I want to spend more time with her.
When a stalker begins sending Kylie a series of notes, I’m only too willing to help protect her.
Maybe I’m looking for a relationship after all.

This novella is an enemies to lovers romantic suspense comedy that is very entertaining. I really enjoyed the “war games” between Kylie and Hagen. A few times I burst out saying OMG!. There are a lot of characters in the book, which for me made it a little difficult to keep track of all the names. Finally I decided to just call them crazy cousins for simplicity. I highly recommend this book if you like to laugh at all the crazy things people do to each other as they fall in love.
It was a book that I hated to have to put down – I wanted to finish it in one sitting! Loved the romance without the bedroom sex being brought into a very entertaining read.
I couldn’t stop laughing, great book!
Found this book to be a surprising read. It was funny, with a plot twist.
Rated 3.0 to 3.5
Neighbors Like That is a whirlwind of childish pranks, outlandish humor, and chaotic romance that will leave you laughing and wondering how in the world Kylie and Hagan did not kill themselves…or each other. Carina Taylor introduces her readers to Kylie, a woman looking for her Prince Charming and love at first sight, and Hagan, a man trying to escape the love of his past. With an initial terrible meeting, Kylie and Hagan delve into outright war that might be too big for their small suburban neighborhood. Between all the pranks and insults, Kylie and Hagan find that maybe what they were looking for was actually right across the street.
Neighbors Like That heavily reminded me of R.L. Mathewson’s A Neighbor From Hell series. Taylor created an entertaining, if not childish, relationship between Kylie and Hagan that certainly left me laughing quite a few times. One of the main reasons this book was not rated higher than 3.5 was how Kylie was written concerning love and finding a future partner. Several times I read Kylie’s descriptions of going to the gym to be fit so her future Prince Charming recognized her or how love was supposed to fit in a little box and I barely stopped my inner feminist from raging. Other times, I was captivated by Kylie and Hagan’s relationship and how they challenged each other to be better than what they thought they could be. If Taylor had written Kylie’s character differently I think this book would have certainly been 4-stars. There are several other cliches, but if you are reading a neighbors enemies to lovers romance, then you were expecting some cliche. Overall, this book is funny and silly with a sweet romance that leaves you glancing out your window hoping to find your own neighbor to prank.
Even thought this is a romance it carried over into the friends and neighbors realm. I laughed out loud at some of the things they did.
Don’t try to read this quietly in bed!! For one, you’re not going to read until you fall asleep. You’ll read until you finish the whole book. Secondly, you’ll wake your husband up a lot!! If you can even stifle your laughter, you’ll still wake him up from shaking the bed laughing so hard!! Most “romantic comedy” books amount to a chuckle here and there but this one lived up to its name and then some! Several times I had to put my kindle down to wipe my tears and get myself together because it was just too hilarious! This was such a fantastic read! I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!
Such a lovely story. Kylie is a sweetheart with a gentle soul, but Hagen brings out the hoyden in her. Hagen has escaped a manipulative relationship and is a bit down on himself, meeting Kylie helps him remember the good times.
I laughed so hard at the practical jokes, and adored meeting the Boone family. Hagen does bring with him some swoon… this was a lovely clean romance.
I love this laugh out loud, satisfyingly romantic romp with just a hint of suspense.
The main characters had substance and heaps of chemistry. The large family dynamic just added to the overall charm of the book and ramped up the fun factor.
I recommend this book.
Wholesome and fun romantic comedy
What starts as an innocent case of “borrowing” the neighbor’s garbage can turns into a series of pranks. But Kylie and Hagen can’t seem to stop “out pranking” each other. Will they figure out that their mutual attraction, not mutual dislike, is what’s spurring them on?
A great romantic comedy book
What a fun book! Lots of laughs and love.
What a great fun book – and the first in a fun series, although this can be a stand-alone. The war was hilarious – yes, it may not have been “realistic” as others have complained, but this is a work of fiction. I loved it, and eagerly looked forward to reading the next one in the series. The characters are wonderful and relatable.
Loved it!! Nice to read a romantic story with no explicit sex scenes
I laughed …. and then I laughed … tears of laughter! Oh! So Funny! Such pranksters. Oh oh .. then the evil threat! Oh oh! Cousins!! Oh my!! What fun!!! Such an entertaining read! Dramatic conclusion! (yes I guessed right).
You won’t regret to read this loely funny book! a must for dark days!
Loved this book! Wish my neighbors were this fun!
I love a light hearted romance! This was a fun read with a lovely happily ever after. Recommend it
This book is super fun. There are tons of laugh out loud moments as these two prank each other back and forth. The writing is really enjoyable, and getting to know these main characters was just a joy. The mystery was 4 stars, not too hard to figure out, and resolved in a mediocre way. But this was so much fun to read I didn’t care about that. I’d read more about Kylie and Hagan. I will definitely pick up another book by this author.
