I really enjoyed this book. I have listened to a few of the author’s other books from the Maycroft Mysteries series and thought I would give this series ago to. Glad I did because it has everything you could want from a good cozy mystery – funny situations, a love able cat, romantic interest, intrigue, paranormal help, plenty of suspects, a hopeless detective and a great cast of characters. I liked the characters who were interesting but down to earth and like able, the kind of people that you might have living next door. The mystery was well worked and kept you guessing. I have already downloaded the next audio book in the series, I enjoyed it that much.
The last thing Wendy wants or needs as she arrives with the removal van at her new house is to find a funeral going on next door and a car blocking her driveway. Not dressed for the occasion or ready to meet her new neighbours she never the less rings the door bell and is sucked into the crazy world of a small town village. The man of the house died in the den but rather than morn his death his wife is worrying about redecorating or having her photo taken, the son in law is eager to sell the house and his best friend can’t help but take digs at him during his eulogy. But was his death really the accident it seems? When Wendy discovers blood no where near the supposed accident site, she has to ask herself who she can trust? Her gran’s old friend and the murder man’s wife or the hunky neighbour next door that know a little bit to much about what goes.on in the neighbourhood? A missing golf club points the police in one direction but Wendy is determined to find out what really happened.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with bringing the story a characters to life.

A fun, easy to read, well written story, wonderful characters, very good story line. A don’t want to put down page turner. Great start to the series.
Wendy is starting over back in her hometown. That hometown is a very small town where everyone seems to know everything about everyone… except they really don’t. Even though a neighbors death was ruled accidental, things don’t seem right to Wendy…
Lisa B. Thomas has written a great cozy mystery! I loved the characters and I’m really looking forward to Wendy’s next adventure.
Karen Krause did a lovely job with the narration. I would not hesitate to listen to more of her narrations.
