Excellent steampunk! If you like that genre, you will love this book!
I will be reading more A.W. Exley. Captivating characters and great fun!
Read it in one sitting and looking forward to the next in the series.
Great series.
A gem read!
She has always been curious and impulsive, but tangling with a serial killer might cure that… Permanently…
Such an intriguing and interesting read. I don’t know why I stopped reading it for a bit but then I picked it up again, and was immediately hooked.
I was reeling the last couple of chapters – an amazing read!
Full of murders, artifacts, criminals, action, adventure and love.
Perfect for readers of steampunk romances.
I really enjoy stories about egyptian artifacts.
I enjoyed the strong female character and her intelligence, insight, and love of others made her an unusual character. The male character was amazing in his development throughout the book. You never know.
This story is simultaneously equal parts bizarre, hilarious, sexy and devilishly daring. I’ve never read a Steampunk novel before and haven’t shown any interest in the culture but this story was wonderful. I was immediately drawn into the first line (which has been added to my list of all time favorite first lines of novels) — There was something cathartic about wielding a crowbar. It was perfect! I wish I could write a first line like that. It’s sassy and ballsy, just like Cara.
Cara, the main character, is ballsy, dangerous, and vulnerable. She’s the perfect heroine. A fighter, a survivor. She’s a woman you can’t help rooting for. Lord Lyons (Nathaniel a.k.a. Nate) is the perfect rogue, a pirate in wolf’s clothing. He is a man of his word and a dangerous criminal at the same time and I couldn’t help loving and trusting him.
The story is filled with intrigue and truly bizarre episodes that kept me laughing throughout the entire novel. Her Nan, for example, was truly priceless and completely incorrigible. I wish I had a grandmother like that!
All in all, a fast read combining comedy, romance, mystery, and whimsy as only Steampunk can. I dare you to find out whodunit.
Loved it! The book was a bit predictable however the characters were richly told and I found myself drawn to what Cara would do next. I look forward to the next book!
Received a free copy for review. Intense, interesting and entertaining story.
Boring. The plot would have been interesting if it hadn’t been over shadowed by the juvenile delivery of the sex between the protagonists
A little juvenile but moved fast enough to stay withit
I’d be picky about recommendations.
Loved this first book in the Artifact Hunters series! Cara Devon is a feisty, quick-witted heroine who isn’t afraid of a fight, both in the physical and verbal sense. Even better, she doesn’t care at all what society thinks and often associates with the more nefarious crowd of Victorian England. Nevertheless, she has a good heart despite her troubled past, and despite the questionable people she associates with. Throw in a dashing, villainous viscount and his pirate friend, with equal parts adventure, danger, steampunk elements, and of course, romance, and you get a book worth reading more than once. Highly recommended!
Since I enjoy Egypt books I liked this one as well.
ANYTHING by this author is a winner, don’t hesitate, but I suggest reading them in order.
I enjoyed the story, and will probably read more of the series when my local library gets copies of them.
I thought it original with interesting, likable characters.
Excellent read, I couldn’t put it down.
It’s a nice play on Victorian era steampunk, well worth the time to read.
