Working with my ex-boyfriend is no easy task—especially when he looks good enough to eat. Flirting with the past is like playing with fire, and I’m bound to get burned.
I should ignore my feelings for him, but I can’t when our happily ever after is finally so close. Threats and ultimatums are made, and revelations nearly bring me to my knees. Since we can’t stay away from each other, he’s … he’s determined to fight to be with me until the end.
Tyler will be mine—no matter who stands in my way.
NEEDING YOU CLOSE is book 2 in the Tyler & Gemma duet and must be read in order.

First of all, I am so happy to see the end of Victoria. I was so happy when that happened. Finally Tyler gets some sort of justice.
Tyler final gets his life back in order. After testifying against Victoria, he realizes that he still has feeling for Gemma. Now that she is single, there is nothing stopping him. Gemma and Tyler begin their relationship slowly. However, Gemma’s ex has other plans for the future and forces Gemma to choose.
I truly wanted to kill Robert throughout the story but Kennedy Fox did it even better. Tyler and Gemma are one of my favorite Kennedy Fox characters. I can’t wait for the next Duet.
***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****
EEEK! Needing You Close held the emotion I needed. This story held me captivated through all the twists and turns. Needing You Close was such an intense story with the slow burn I love Kennedy Fox for. I was all about Tyler and watching him get his happily ever after. Fox made Tyler work for it and he did. He did work for it and it was intense. I’m so loving all these characters. I’m deeply invested in on how Noah will get back in Katie’s good grace? Can he earn it and what will Fox put them through?
Lia Langola and Tor Thom really brought Gemma and Tyler to life. The narrators really brought out the struggle, the push/pull struggle they had. I could definitely see Thom “being” Tyler. He has that real strong voice that really reminds me of a military man… I know, I’m totally being clichéd. I can’t help it. I enjoy a good strong voiced man. We can’t forget about Lia Langola now, can we. Langola brought Gemma to life so vividly. I felt her anxiety over her feelings with Tyler.
I was hooked on the first book of this duet and I loved the second! “Needing You Close” is the second book in the Tyler and Gemma duet in the Ex-Con series by Kennedy Fox.
We were left with one crazy cliffhanger at the end of book one and we dive right into the story. Gemma is finally seeing that her fiance is not who he says he is. That he is actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing who has a hold over her and her father.
Tyler is the ultimate sweet alpha who will do what he needs to protect anyone he loves or cares about. I would love to go on and about every plot twist that happened but I would basically be rewriting the story in my review. Trust me, you need to read or listen to this book! I was given a code by Kennedy Fox to listen to the audiobook version of the story. Tor Thom and Lia Langola did an amazing job. Both were the perfect choice for this story.
When we learn the big plot twist, I actually had to hit pause to yell “Whattttt?!?!” Mind blowing !
The only issue I have with this author is this duets, its killing me waiting to read the next part, lol
But everything else, it just gets you hooked
This conclusion to Gemma and Tyler’s story was spot on. It was filled with so much emotion and angst and don’t forget the romance. After the first part of their story I couldn’t wait for the next part. And it didn’t disappoint.
This book just made me so anxious. Having to deal with Victoria and Gemma’s ex-fiancé didn’t make this an easy journey. I wanted to hurt him so bad Lots of intrigue and manipulations and drama and scheming it just drove me mad, but it definitely made the story interesting. All in all I don’t have a complaint about this duet ended. Everything was just an amazing story. From the drama to the supporting characters I don’t have one complaint. I am definitely a fan of these two authors
I have to say that the Lia Langola’s narration is growing on me Tor Thom is always a pleasure listening to
This is the conclusion to Gemma and Tyler’s story and book 1 must be read first. I really enjoyed Tor Thom and Lia Langola’s performances for the audiobook. They captured the elements to Tyler and Gemma’s relationship that I loved so well, their playful humour, their desire for each other and the hurt they both go through.
Needing You Close showcased Gemma and Tyler’s relationship developing into a friendship and more as their old feelings for each other strengthened. There were plenty of moments that made me smile and the chemistry was clear to see as they began to open up to the idea that they are meant to be together, and as Gemma realised Robert is not the man for her. Of course there is plenty of drama to go alongside the romance, Robert is more manipulative than I ever expected him to be. With Tyler knowing Victoria is back and set to make his life hell all over again and Robert doing his best to keep Gemma on a tight leash I didn’t know how they would get out of this one together. Needless to say I was thrilled with how the ending turned out, as I listened I no doubt had a smug grin on my face as each character got their comeuppance.
Gemma and Tyler have a roller coaster of a ride to their happily ever after. Many ups and downs throughout this story.
The narrator is fabulous.
I really liked Fox’s writing style and this set of characters she’s created. Plus the narrators are perfect, giving each scene even more depth. Book 1 left me on a cliffhanger, and this was a great continuation of Tyler and Gemma’s story. I loved how Fox handled Gemma’s fiance going off the rails and gave him more depth. The characters were each dealing with their world going back and forth between everything falling apart and the broken pieces coming back together again. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Plus the scenes between Tyler and Gemma were just perfect. I’m not ready to leave this world yet, and I’m so excited to read Noah and Katie’s story in the next book.
Needing You Close is Book 2 in the Tyler & Gemma Duet. *This duet must be listened to in order.
The ending of Keeping You away left me chomping at the bit and guessing where Book 2, Needing You Close, would take us readers/listeners. Whatever I could have possibly conjured up in my head couldn’t come close to the emotional roller coaster Kennedy Fox took me in the concluding book of this duet.
Needing You Close had me on pins and needles the whole book waiting/wanting/wishing for Tyler and Gemma to get the HEA they deserved. They had a long, tough road and it seemed that any time I thought true love was going to prevail—here comes another wrench in their plans. Seriously, these two could not catch a break.
I must admit that for a small part of the book I was ready to throw anything within a few feet radius of me at the wall. Without giving too much away, I thought in my head SURELY KF would never do me like that. SURELY NOT! Of course, I never should have doubted KF. After all, they’ve never let me down before. Let me just say PLOT TWIST! It’s one thing I love most about this duo, they always keep me on my toes.
Even though at times it seemed down right impossible, Tyler and Gemma finally got the HEA that they fought so hard for and ever so badly deserved! I’m so excited for the next couple’s story in the Ex-Cons series (Noah & Katie)! What makes it even better is that we’ll get to see more of Tyler and Gemma (as secondary characters) in the next duet. It’s basically like having a bonus extended epilogue!
Lia Langola and Tor Thom did just as great bringing Gemma and Tyler’s characters to life in Book 2 as they did in Book 1.
Audiobook Review:
Part two of this duet was well worth the wait. It was thrilling and had lots of unexpected moments. But my favorite part of course was Tyler and Gemma making an attempt to truly rekindle their relationship. Things took such a turn with Robert and I felt tense whenever he was even mentioned as the story went on. But that was just one aspect that I liked about the story. I liked how Tyler and Gemma spent time together not just in a physical sense so it really felt like they built their relationship back up instead of just jumping back into bed and calling it a done deal that they were together. And then things kept getting so crazy and I wasn’t sure from one moment to the next what was going to happen, I just knew I was enjoying the journey. After all was said and done, I was once again reminded why I’ve been listening to any Kennedy Fox book I could get my hands on because they are great story tellers.
I also must mention how much I loved the voices they got to tell the story this time. Tor Thom and Lia Langola came back for this performance and once again did a fantastic job. I loved not only Tor’s deep growly voice for Tyler but also the emotion and passion and energy both Lia brought to Gemma. This duet is a must listen to kind of story.
I listened to the audio version of this book. The conclusion to Tyler and Gemma’s story was as wonderful as the first story. I loved Tyler as much as I hated Gemma’s fiance Robert. It seems that Robert has Gemma up against the ropes and she is destined for a life of sacrifice and despair.
Not only has danger come to threaten her first (and she has discovered true love), but everything she cherishes may be taken away as well. Can Tyler help her find a way to keep all she loves, including him?
This was a great conclusion to a great story and the narration by Lia Langola and Tor Thom helped top it off.
I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this duet. Tyler was great his love for Gemma was beautiful and they were destined to be together. The journey they went through to be together was rough and rugged. They have such a deep undying love for each other and it was just a great ending to their story. This second audio version was just as good as the first book and Tor Thom and Lia Langola once again did an excellent job!
These authors knocked Tyler and Gemma’s story out of the park and I can’t wait to read Katie and Noah’s story.
Review: After the Cliffhanger that we were left with, I was dying to see what would happen with Tyler and Gemma. We know the path for Tyler and Gemma isn’t going to be easy. With so much going on in both of their lives and Gemma still has her infuriating fiancé Robert.
Gemma has been the compliant girl who does whatever Robert wants. But as Tyler starts to bring back the real Gemma, Robert is not pleased with her new assertive behavior. As she pushes, he pulls. I couldn’t wait to get rid of Robert, but I did not see how they were going to accomplish that!
I loved Tyler and his love, protectiveness and passion for Gemma. These two had great chemistry and I just couldn’t wait for them to get their HEA. These two belonged together and most could see that, but it was definitely a slow burn romance. There were some parts that were a little slow. Overall I loved their story though.
The element of suspense kept you guessing and wondering what was going to happed or how they were going to get out of this situation. My mind was blown. I enjoyed their journey and how they navigated everything. Their HEA was perfect and I enjoyed the secondary characters. I can’t wait for Katie and Noah’s book next!
I listened to the audiobook by Lia and Thor. This was my 2nd time with Lia and she did good as Gemma. Thor has a deep voice that was great for Tyler.
Back in the world of small town romances with a twist, back with Gemma and Tyler – finally! I’ve loved this world centering on ex-cons finding their second chances from the start, but I’ve loved its characters even more. I was fully invested in everything Gemma and Tyler, rooting for them to find happiness with each other. And while their ride wasn’t as wild and angst filled as other Kennedy Fox stories, I was engrossed from beginning to end. These two might just have stolen my heart with their well-written, slowly building love story that started so many moons ago. Sigh.
Multilayered, multidimensional characters, deeply emotional plots – that’s what I’ve come to love and expected from books by this author duo. Their characters always feel believable, relatable and real, like I could meet them in real life and actually become friends with them – and I adore that!
You might always know the outcome, the end result of a book like this one, but you’ll never be able to predict the bumps and roadblocks, the twists and turns to overcome for the couple to get there. There was actually a point in this book I began doubting if Tyler would really get his girl. That’s the kind of romance I live for and the reason while I’ll always come back for more from this particular author.
Audiobook-
I was anxious to continue Tyler and Gemma’s story. This one was intense!
Between Tyler and his issue with Victoria and Gemma with horrible Robert, I was on the edge of my seat.
The outcome? Brilliant! Never expected the ending at all. Loved it!
This had such the perfect ending and a wild ride!
Loved the second half of this duet. Tyler and Gemma had so much going on in this one and there was a bunch of drama with Robert as well. Honestly, like most duet books the second book is the most exciting and I loved it. We finally get closure with Victoria and Gemma figures out a way to outsmart Robert. And Tyler and Gemma end up with their Happily Every After. I can’t wait to read Katie and Noah’s book now!
OMG.. This second book really makes the story… Love all the twists and turns. Adore Kennedy Fox’s way of telling Tyler and Gemma’s story. Really glad how certain people got what was coming to them. I like how this story also gets you interested in all the other characters so you want to read what Kennedy writes next. Looking forward to the next books in the series…
This is the second book in the Ex-Con Duet Series. You have to listen to the first book in the duet before this one. The story continues where the first book left off. This is a great conclusion to Gemma ans Tyler’s second chance to love. The storyline is emotional, filled with angst, romance, and twists and turns. The supporting characters are great. Tor Thom and Lia Langola did a great job with the narration. I can’t wait to listen to Noah and Katie’s story in Pushing You Away, the next duet in the Series.
Excellent
I love second chance stories and this was no exception. The perfect second part of the duet, great chemistry and flow to the story. I did not expect the surprise so bravo. Tyler was still amazing as ever and a great teaser for the next duet. The narration was excellent, which isn’t unexpected from these two pros – great choices.
This is the conclusion of Keeping you Away and while I loved the story, the first book is still my favorite.
I was glad the authors didn’t go into the drama with Victoria, I was afraid it would happen when I finished listening the first book. Kudos for dodging the predictability and going into another direction: the abusive fiancée. I did not see it coming. This story is OTT, but I felt the way things were described was very good so I didn’t feel it was too much. Both characters and motivations are believable, they were likable and cute together.
The narration duo is amazing, love both narrators and they were a good choice for this story!
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
I loved the 2nd part if this duet. Tor Thom and Lia Langola did such a a great job as the narrators for this duet. I had already read the actual book version of this story but I love listening to the audio in my car when I am driving. I also love the emotion that these 2 narrators portray with this book. Also the way the narrators can do the other voices of the characters and keeps them straight is so good.
I highly recommend getting this audio version if this duet by Kennedy Fox!
