Working with my ex-boyfriend is no easy task—especially when he looks good enough to eat. Flirting with the past is like playing with fire, and I’m bound to get burned.
I should ignore my feelings for him, but I can’t when our happily ever after is finally so close. Threats and ultimatums are made, and revelations nearly bring me to my knees. Since we can’t stay away from each other, he’s … he’s determined to fight to be with me until the end.
Tyler will be mine—no matter who stands in my way.
NEEDING YOU CLOSE is book 2 in the Tyler & Gemma duet and must be read in order.

Loved everything about needing you close . Tyler and Gemma were so cute and glad everything worked out the way it did. Can’t wait for Noah and Katie
The conclusion to Tyler and Gemma’s story was everything I could have hoped for and so much more. They didn’t have an easy path but they both deserved a happy ending. Needing You Close picks up where things left off in book one, Keeping You Away. Just like the first book this one is full of angsty, emotion, and drama. The slow burn is well worth the wait.
Tyler and Gemma have insane amounts of chemistry and you can feel that ooze off the pages when they are together. I can’t get enough of them. Tyler is protective, caring, 100% alpha male. Gemma is caring, she is fighter, protective of those she cares about. These two balance each other out perfectly. They heal each other. They work so perfectly together. Their relationship is full of ups and downs, however, they know that they can both rely on each other for support.
SO many unexpected things happened in this book. Things I NEVER would have guessed and at one point I’m pretty sure my jaw was on the floor. I loved getting some more of Liam and Maddie throughout the story, too. I love the relationship between Tyler and his sister. Plus, the friendship between Everleigh, Katie and Gemma.
Needing You Close is an angsty slow burn that is full of twists and turns. Tyler and Gemma’s story is a MUST READ!
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading “Needing You Close.” I read half the book in one sitting, but I was so afraid of what might happen next that I needed to take a break! I thought about what had transpired so far with Gemma and Tyler and hoped that their love would be strong enough to withstand any more obstacles that came their way. Gemma and Tyler may have been apart for a long time, but their love for each other had never left their hearts — it was just waiting for the right time for them to be together.
They both have families who will support them unconditionally, which I feel gave them the hope and strength to not give up when faced with making decisions that could change their lives forever. Gemma and Tyler have a passionate, tender and honest relationship, and I was cheering for them to have the happy ending that they deserved. I laughed and cried along with them, and their beautiful romance took me away from everyday life to a place filled with happiness, love and magical nights.
Amazing!!
Tyler and Gemma are my most favorite couple! This book was so Great…I could not have predicted what the outcome would be. I was not able to put this book down and have lost many sleepless hours, but have loved every moment of it!Kennedy Fox
Rate: 5 / 5 stars
Kennedy Fox never ever disappoint. I had no idea what I was in for in Tyler’s story, I just wanted him to get the happy ending he deserved and he got it. And they way he got it, fighting for it made it even more special.
We knew from Liam & Maddie’s duet that he would still face the problem of Victoria and boy I was so scared that he would do something stupid and get in trouble again but the way these two ladies worked that ‘revenge’ plot was fantastic and that Vitch got some poetic justice. Rotten to the core, she had a taste of her own poison. I loved it!
But Victoria wasn’t the only problem Tyler and Gemma had to face. Gemma’s fiancé didn’t just make their second chance forbidden, he made their lives a bit of a living hell. Robert almost posed a bigger threat than Victoria and to be honest, I think I disliked him more than her. He was an awful human big and he didn’t have the excuse of being born into a mob world. Even in regards to the Robert situation, these ladies managed to surprise me plot wise. They have become the masters at making me believe sh*t and giving me a heart attack. Not cool but also awesome lol. If you’ve read it you know exactly what I’m talking about. That freaking scene took the cake in this book. It was brilliant.
I just really enjoyed this book and new world. I freaking adore Katie and Everleigh and even Ruby. I am already soooo excited for Noah and I can’t wait to get inside his head and see him fight for a relationship with Katie and her son. It’s bound to be a good one. But I am even more excited for Everleigh to get her own happily ever after. I am also super excited to meet her hero, we got his name in the info of the duet on GR but I don’t believe we have met him yet.
And I obvioulsy adore seeing Liam and Maddie. That last scene where they finally got to meet Gemma was the best. I would also love to see Maddie meet Everleigh in person. I hope these two visit Lawton Ridge in the future and we get to see them meet everyone else.
Needing You Close was an amazing conclusion to Tyler and Gemma’s story. You still get a little slow burn, tons and tons of angst and lots of emotional scenes. We get wondeful friendship moments, more beautiful letters that showcase the amazing love story between these two. We see justice being served in more ways then one and as always we get glimpses into the next duet. These two share a beautiful, emotional story and a love that was destined from the beginning. I can’t wait to get more glimpses of them in the other two duets.
This second half of the duet continues straight on from the first half and we are back into the world of everything Tyler and Gemma. Unfortunately, they have some undesirable people in their world, but hey, they certainly make the story an adventure.
Gemma just can’t win with that douche Robert, I honestly want to hit him over the head with something, anything as long as it does the job properly. I really like Gemma’s character, always have, even when she couldn’t see Robert for the manipulative, power-hungry scoundrel that he is. When she is with Tyler it’s like two halves that join together perfectly. Tyler is such a sweetheart, he loves with his whole heart and is so loyal. He deserves to get his happy ever after… damn those evil characters are annoying pests.
Holy hotness, the intimacy between the lead characters is off the charts, so sexy and passionate but filled with a depth emotion of too. Yes, it’s fun, flirty, and sensual but it is also meaningful and shows how much in love they are now.
I have to admit I found the pace waned occasionally but when it picked up it was at full throttle and the action and drama were exciting and intense. I loved the twists and turns in the storyline too, I did not see the major one coming, well done to the authors on a fabulous spin.
Needing you close is a terrific second chance at love story that entertains and delights with its beautiful romance.

Another EPIC HEA Tyler & Gemma’s story took on an epic twist that I did not see coming. I loved these two so much. Tyler did not have the best life and finding love in Gemma was something he didn’t quit feel he deserved. After years of staying away he is finally home but Gemma is engaged to another (crazy psycho). Once Victoria showed her claws I knew something was going to go down.
I couldn’t read through this book fast enough. I was literally on the edge of my seat. There were so many twist I didn’t know how they were ever going to get their HEA but Kennedy Fox does NOT disappoint!! A definite MUST READ!! I CAN NOT wait for Noah & Katie’s story. I have feeling that on is going to break my heart.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!
My head is in jumble mess! There’s so many things I didn’t see coming… the twist and turns made me question one scenario but I agree… it make sense when in comes to that incident but the bigger twist is WOWZER! Damn! Yesss!
Well played Kennedy Fox, it was a slow on start on book 1 but Needing You Close is full of suspense and drama and extra.
Oh Tyler when they say patience is a virtue well young man….your understanding…self restraint…and determination is unquestionable.
Gemma my dear… who you knew you are bold, fearless and loyal.
Daring. Unpredictable. Admiration.
It’s beautiful ending to Tyler and Gemma.
What a great conclusion to Tyler and Gemma’s love story! There were so many things I loved about this book. I loved seeing Tyler and Gemma together. I loved watching Gemma stand up for herself and what she wanted, and I loved the friendships between Gemma Everleigh and Katie, and of course Tyler, Liam, and Maddie. The twists and turns this story took were so unexpected but so fantastic! The tease we get for the next book has me so excited for the next duet in this series!
Mystery, intrigue, giant mistakes and evil people will keep you turning the pages in the conclusion to Tyler and Gemma’s 2nd chance at love…will they get it right before they make the biggest mistake of all. Loved it!! I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
Please do not pick this book up without reading Keeping You Away, you have to have read book one to enjoy and follow this story. This is the continuation of Tyler and Gemma’s story and it starts right where Keeping You Away finished. I was excited for this book and it was everything I expected and so much more, this duet is a couple books that will stay with me forever.
Tyler and Gemma fight their attraction to each other from the beginning of this book and try as they might they always end up back protecting and having each other’s back, but will the secrets finally tear them apart or will they once revealed draw them closer together…..
Can Tyler and Gemma destroy those destined to keep them apart, I guess you need to read the book to find that out. I’m not going to give the story away because you need to read this duet with no preconceived ideas so all I’m going to say is please one click this must read, you won’t be disappointed. A second chance, slow burn love story with just the right amount of angst to keep you turning the pages, I loved everything about this read.
Fantastic conclusion to this duet! I adored the growth Gemma showed in this one. And Tyler, well I just fell more and more in love with him. The storyline was fantastic and I loved the way it was written and how everything came to be. And what a great tease for the next duet!
Needing You Close is the second part of a duet, and picks up right where Keeping You Away ended and if you want to get the best experience out of the story you will want to read the first part of he duet first.
Now that that is out of the way….Needing You Close is the continuation of Gemma and Tyler’s story and full of everything you would could possibly hope for. A sweet, slow-burn love story that both of them deserve after waiting for so many years. Yes, there is some angst in still arriving to that point, but considering so much of their story was already filled with it in the first half of their story, I love that this half they ignored the world and lived in a rose colored bubble. A lot of the story was focused on the two of them just falling in love all over again. Don’t underestimate any author when a couple is living in a bubble, at some time it is going to pop, but oh….that bubble was so sweet while it lasted. (I know Brooke and Lyra were manically laughing when they popped that bubble though as all good authors do).
For fans of the other series, where Tyler first made his appearance, you will love catching up with former characters, but it is not necessary to have read them to still enjoy these brief references. You will also get a brief insight into the future characters and what’s on the horizon with the next duets. I’m excited to see where this entire series arc goes.
Back to Tyler and Gemma. They build on their friendship in this second half of the duet, while also looking for more as a potential future, but it is hard while Gemma tries to escape her present and Tyler is still running from his past.
Their timing just never seems right when Robert’s demands become overbearing and Gemma finally wants to call it off, but jumping right into something new with Tyler shouldn’t be right, unless Gemma never really fell out of love with him after all. Can they escape the monster in a rich suit and finally be together or are they both too late? Who will win in the end and what ever happened to Victoria? Don’t worry…all of your questions will be answered and you will love this story.
Talk about a slow burner!!!!!
This is the conclusion to Tyler and Gemma’s story and it did not disappoint. The events that took place at the end of Keeping You Away had me questioning so many things mainly how was the triangle of Tyler/Gemma/Robert going to end. I got my answers and then some!!!
Tyler is adjusting to being back in the real world after spending five years in prison for a crime he was framed for. He went back home to Lawton Ridge and got a job at the local mechanic shop that is coincidentally owned by Gemma’s father. Her engagement to Robert remains an obstacle for them both. Tyler knows what he wants and that is Gemma but at the same time he has respect for her and what she wants (or thinks she wants).
Gemma is still planning on marrying Robert even though she is in love with Tyler. Robert’s true colors are coming through more and more and Gemma is finally waking up to realize what kind of man he truly is and calls off the wedding but he just doesn’t take the news too well and therefore sets off a series of events that I just did not see coming.
Tyler is such a fierce protector when it comes to Gemma and yet the touching moments between the two of them are the absolute sweetest. I believe she is the only person that could bring him to his knees. Gemma’s protectiveness is not to be glossed over because even though she is a protector in a different way she proves that she will do anything for those that she loves no matter the sacrifice.
I completely devoured this book in one day…..there was no putting it down. The side story that we knew was coming from the end of Keeping You Away turned out to be even more than I suspected it would. Liam, Maddie and Eric round out this story quite nicely to give Tyler and Gemma their HEA even though they had to go through so much to get there (it was 12 years in the making).
Kennedy Fox never seems to fail when it comes to weaving a story. They always deliver absolute greatness including the epilogue that will lead into the next book. Bravo ladies…you nailed it again!
*******AUDIO REVIEW*******
Needing You Close was just as good in audio as Keeping You Away. When I read a book I don’t always pick up on the emotion of the characters and there is nobody better than Lia Langola to portray that emotion. Tor Thom continues to do a great Tyler. I especially love the way he says a certain four letter word that cannot be typed here. Tyler and Gemma find a huge obstacle in their way in the second part of their story. While they think they may finally be able to give a relationship a chance Robert shows back up not going quietly. The bond between Gemma and Tyler is years old even though they were apart….nobody can come in between them. This story is one epic slow burn but when Tyler and Gemma finally come together it makes the wait worth it. They find a very clever way to work around their obstacle and get their HEA!
4.5 Star Needing You Close (Ex-Con Duet #2) by Kennedy Fox
Firstly if you have not read Keeping You Away then STOP. You must read that book before reading Needing You Close.
This is the continuation of Tyler and Gemma’s story and it was everything I hope for and so much more. Kennedy Fox drew me in and kept me invested from the first to the last chapter.
This is a love story that built slowly, with some angst and was well written. Despite themselves Tyler and Gemma have tried to stay from one another, however when Gemma’s fiance turns out to be not who she thought, it is to Tyler that Gemma turns too.
As their feelings intensify, secrets will be revealed and lives turned upside down. Will Tyler and Gemma be able to bring down those who seek to destroy the second chance at love or will they be torn apart once and for all?
