Evan Bishop is your typical hotshot doctor. Hardass, brooding, and all business. Instead of working on the family ranch, Evan broke the mold and became an ER doctor. He’s good with his hands—in more ways than one—smart as a whip and is the definition of God’s gift to women. Being a gentleman is in his Southern roots, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t flawed. Exclusive dating has never been a top … never been a top priority and his tragic past makes him stay at arm’s length. Deciding to let loose for a wild night, he takes a page from the Bishop brother’s relationship book and hooks up with a mysterious girl he’ll never have to see again, which is perfect for this self-proclaimed bachelor.
Emily Bell is a city girl through and through but is determined to get away from her family and past. All she wants is a fresh start and to make a name for herself in the medical field. No random hookups and no dating coworkers—that’s her new motto after being burned time and again. When she agrees to attend a wedding as a plus-one, she’s soon ditched and left to drink solo—but not for long. Mr. Suit is the ultimate temptation with his Southern charm, messy blond hair, and irresistible sex appeal. Everything about him screams bad news, but he makes her reconsider her rules just for one night.
After all, some rules are made to be broken.
They want the same thing—one night of passion then they’ll go their separate ways. No cuddling afterward. No next day phone calls. No awkward goodbyes. Too bad the universe has other plans—one that’ll be obvious when they report to work on Monday morning.
*A contemporary romance with a little Southern drama. This is book 2 in the Bishop Brothers series. Each book features a different brother and can be read as a complete standalone. HEA guaranteed!*
Not suitable for readers under 18 due to adult language and sexual content.

Needing Him has one of my favorite plot set-ups …. wild night with a stranger but SURPRISE, not really LOL It’s lends to some of the best sexually tense books I’ve ever read and this was no exception! Evan and Emily have some serious tension .. the good kind of tension. It’s borderline love/hate but really more like lust/hate and their chemistry was unmistakable. I felt it in the words I read. I didn’t just read this story, I felt it. Mad props to the author for that one!
The book is fueled by all kinds of emotions, incredible banter, sexual chemistry and a ton of heart. It’s my first Bishop brother but he won’t be my last, for sure!
Emily and Evan are the absolute cutest! I could not put it down! From the swoon worthy moments, thriller scenes, sexy scenes, and medical drama this book had it all! The playlist for the Bishop Brothers series definitely fits each book, especially this one! Can’t wait to read the next two books! I’ll definitely buy the hard copies soon!
Good Lord the Bishop men are very hard to resist dang Kennedy Fox for bringing them into my life. I thought Alex was it for me but so was not expecting Dr. Evan Bishop. We saw a little of him with River but when it comes to Emily he is all in. I loved that they butt heads at every step yet the passion between them is explosive at every chapter. One thing I loved the most is how protective Evan is concerning Emily and that speaks on so many levels that this is more than a one night stand. Cannot wait for Johns story in the next Bishop series.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
HOLY MOLY!!! They just keep getting better!!! Well.. I knew these brothers were going to give me a ride in each book!!! Dr. Evan Bishop can examine me anytime he wants!! This is not your typical meet your boss after a one-night stand kind of book. This is all sorts of hate-to-lovers, secrets and life and death all wrapped up with a sexy bow on it!!! Cannot wait for the next brother!
This is the second book in the Bishop Brothers series. You can read them as stand alones. We do get updates on all the brothers in each book though. So you’ll see Alex and River’s life continue in this book as well.
This is Evan’s book.
Evan is the oldest of the Bishop kids. He didn’t want to be just a rancher. He loves the ranch and his family, but he had a different calling.
He is a trama doctor in the ER.
The first meeting between Emily, or should I say Stella, and Evan was great. Especially the morning after. Who does that? Emily does! I was laughing so hard at that part.
There is a lot of push and pull in this book, especially when they meet for real.
I loved how their love developed.
Evan is a great guy, he’s very protective and it shows. He’s loyal and once he’s all in, he’s all in. No matter what baggage comes with.
I can’t wait to read more of the Bishop brothers. I have an idea about the pregnant lady in this book, but I’m zipping my lips and will see if it plays out in the next book.
I hated the cover of this book! Evan is dirty-blond, blue-eyed and gorgeous. The guy in the cover may be ripped but he’s not my idea of gorgeous. Although he does have the grumpy look, all right. Anyhow, the book was fantastic. I loved Evan even if he was grumpy and especially loved Emily. She was spunky and didn’t let Evan walk over her, gave as good as she got.
Evan and Emily hooked up during Alex and River’s wedding. They ended up having a one night stand at the B&B, and next morning, Emily absconded with Evan’s rented tux. Next day at work, Evan is instructed to supervise the new ER doctor and surprise! It’s Emily, except that yesterday she was Stella. They start working together with a lot of hostility and Evan has a hard time accepting Emily for the outstanding doctor she is. All he sees is the girl who stole his clothes and is the daughter of a renowned doctor. He thinks she’s living off her father’s fame. Emily moved away from her family precisely to prove herself away from her father’s influence, so she hates Evan’s innuendos. Evan works hard to prove to his family that being a doctor is his life’s choice, not being a farmer. Each one is in their own way breaking away from their families’ expectations and proving themselves right.
There are funny moments in the book, like the bachelor auction where Emily won a date with Evan, and suspenseful moments in which Emily found out she has a stalker who means harm. Evan and Emily’s bickering was more like foreplay and it transforms into love as events unfold.
As with the previous book, I love the family and community feeling. There’s a side story involving the elusive Jackson and Kiera, Emily’s best friend, who is also a childhood friend of the Bishop siblings. They are into each other but for some reason Jackson won’t act on his feelings and continues playing the field. Kiera is afraid of losing their friendship so she gives in and starts dating the ranch vet, Trent Laken.
I had fun reading this book, watching the bickering that was hot chemistry in the works. Evan turned out to be a real Southern charmer later on, when the sexy times start. It was very entertaining!
I really enjoyed the first Bishop brothers book Taming Him, but Needing him I loved even more. I love the enemies to lovers aspect of the book. I loved the cockiness they both had towards each other and the angst they had. Great book! Can’t wait to read about more Bishop brothers!
I love the Bishop clan. Evan Bishop broke the convention and became a doctor, much to his father’s chagrin, though on his off days he works at the ranch. He is very dedicated to his job but also closed off emotionally. At his brother Alex’s wedding, he hooks-up with a woman but finds himself alone the next morning. Emily Bell needs a fresh start after her boyfriend cheats on her and they worked at the same hospital. When she walks in on the first day and finds her one-stand will be her supervisor, well, being shocked is an understatement. These two strong-willed, driven individuals are a perfect match, but can they overcome past hurts and open themselves up to love. It was a fun ride to find out what would happen between these two. At the same time, the entire Bishop family is involved adding so much depth to this series. I loved that we learned more about Keira and can see Jackson being jealous. So excited for the next brother’s story. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Evan is the only Bishop to take a different path than his rancher family to be become a doctor. Between his shifts at the ER and working on the ranch on his days off he doesn’t have time for fun. But at his baby brother’s wedding he meets Stella and decides to let loose for the night. Emily has just moved to Eldorado after a unpleasant breakup, she is looking to start over without her famous dad’s shadow hanging over her. So when Evan approaches her at the wedding she gives him a fake name and they have one glorious and wild night. Until Monday morning rolls around and Emily finds that Evan is her boss. Ooops and queue awkwardness.
This was such a fun enemies to lovers book that I am 100% in love with. Their banter and arguments hit all the feels – they had me laughing, cringing, crying and even angry. I adored all things about Emily and Evan. I felt that Evan’s back story was meh – a bit weak for how he was supposed to be so opposed to relationships. But the drama and suspense of what they had to go through made up for that in spades. I loved that this one had a bit of suspense thrown into it. Overall, I loved this book and I am quickly falling in love with the Bishop family.
I loved Evan and Emily so much.
Needig Him, book 2 in the Bishop Brothers series by the incredible author duo.
Sorry to say, but Evan Bishop has taken the first place of bookboyfriends and Travis is now on second place!! Omg, I love, love Evan!! So brooding and arrogant, yet so sweet and caring! The ultimate alpha male!! *Swooning*
“-Oh, my God’, I screech, rushing over to him when his body hits the floor. “-Are you okay” He’s in the fetal position, and when I look down, I notice his hand cupping his groin. “-Oh, s**t. I nailed you in the b**ls, didn’t I?”
What an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed out loud so many, many times, I was swooning, fanning myself, crying happy tears…I was feeling it all!!
“This is exactly why Evan is the way he is; he learned to treat women with respect from watching his father doing it all these years. As for Jackson’s excuse, he remains a mystery to us all.”
And that ending?!?! Ooohhhh mmmyyyy gaaawwwdd! I can’t wait for the next book!!!
Needing Him is book 2 in the Bishop Brother’s series. I love a good enemies to lovers book and this one did not disappoint. Dr. Evan Bishop is a stubborn man with sweet tendencies. He meets his match with Emily, who is just as stubborn and sassy. She keeps him on his toes. From the moment they meet, buttons were pushed, dares were challenged, and the competition began. Their chemistry was steamy and playful. I loved the banter they had back and forth.
Needing Him by Kennedy Fox is the 2nd book in the Bishop Brothers Series. I ADORED Emily and Evan! These two are one of my most favourite Kennedy Fox couples to date. I loved their connection, chemistry and their banter. They challenge each other and support each other. Evan is a broody doctor. He is full of the southern charm and has a sweet soft side when you get to know him. The book begins at his brothers wedding and he and Emily hook up for one night only. Talk about chemistry!! The following Monday they run into each other at the hospital and he realizes Emily is a new ER doctor at the hospital! The enemies to lovers vibe is strong in this one. Emily recently discovered her ex was cheating in her when walking in on him with a nurse in an on call room at her previous job and swears off ever dating again in the work environment. Evan has his work cut out from him but he soon breaks her down and an all consuming love story begins. Evan is confident and cocky in a sexy way. He has a huge heart and is protective and gorgeous. He takes charge in the ER and in the bedroom. The steam factor in this one is off the charts. So much fire and passion between these two and I couldn’t get enough. Emily is hardworking and has earned her place. She is the daughter of an extremely well known surgeon and has tried her best to be her own person and just known because of who her Dad is. She is fierce and spunky. She keeps Evan on his toes and makes him really work for her heart. I love the Bishop family so much. They are the true picture of a loving supportive family. After the teaser dropped at the end I am dying to start John Bishop’s story next in Chasing Her.
I am absolutely loving this series, and this fun family. This was a witty, fun, entertaining, a little suspenseful, and overall sweet story. Evan and Emily are super steamy, and extremely cute together. I’m happy that serious, all work.. Evan opened up and found happiness. I’m wanting to apart of the Bishop family.
I enjoyed listening to Evan and Emily’s story. I could understand Emily’s reaction to the situation with her boyfriend. That served him right. But, to jump to conclusions about the situation with Evan when she didn’t come close to having all of the facts, was over the top.
Emily was not my favorite, just because of her attitude at the beginning. This would be the same for anyone in any profession at any level. How do you walk in the door acting like you know EVERYTHING about how things should be done, more than the people who have worked there for years? I mean, you can have the knowledge, but you don’t know their policies or procedures.
Also, why would she think it wouldn’t take Evan some time to get over the stunt she pulled? Evan was a good guy. He came to her rescue more than once. We got an explanation for Evan’s brooding personality. But at least Emily was able to break down those walls. They had good chemistry, and built up the sexual tension throughout the book.
There were a few unexpected twists and turns. I was also wondering about Emily’s family. The place that they were introduced into the book was interesting. I don’t honestly know if it would have made any difference to the story if they had been left out. Maybe her siblings will get their own books.
I guess this would fall under enemies to lovers which isn’t my favorite, but this was pretty entertaining. This book also provided some insight into the two remaining unattached Bishop Brothers and their future situations.
I do enjoyed reading about the Bishop family. It is not all easy going relationships and smooth sailing. The love, loyalty, the ups and downs, ridiculous sibling behavior, and the strong sense of family makes for an entertaining read.
I thought the narration was good. Along with a good story, the narration pulled me in and kept me engaged to the very end. It also left me really wanting to jump into John’s story.
A little southern drama with some steamy romance. . . YES!
I thought I loved the first book in this series but man-oh-man I loved this one even more.
Evan is like a good mix of what I would call a city-ish guy with southern roots. Unlike all his brothers who took after their father in working on the ranch, he took another route and became an ER doctor, though he still works on the ranch on the days he isn’t at the hospital. He’s tall, muscular, has long (for a guy) dirty blonde hair and can rock a pair of levi’s just as well as his scrubs.
He doesn’t sleep around like his brothers and he doesn’t get involved with people he works with. But the night of his youngest brother’s wedding, he decides to take a note out of his brother’s book and let loose a little and have fun. Which prompts him to meet a girl who he instantly has chemistry with. But after spending a hot night with her, he wakes to find that not only is SHE gone but also every single bit of his tux. Everything right down to his underwear.
Emily Bell has lived her life in a family of doctors. Her dad is a famous doctor and she and her siblings with along and became doctors as well. After finding her boyfriend with a patient in the on-call room at the hospital they both work at, she walks in on them and after chewing him out she grabs up his clothes, along with his hospital pager and tosses them in a trash bin down the hall. She transfers to a different hospital and town and is excited to make a name for herself and not through her father name.
But after showing up to her first day of work and realizing her one-night stand, who’s clothes she took with a misunderstanding, is now the doctor who she will be shadowing.
When they can’t deny anymore what they have with each other they give in a give their relationship a chance. When trouble threatens her life, he will do anything to make sure she is safe, even if he gets hurt in the process.
I really enjoyed reading Needing Him. This book contained humor, danger, family love, and romance. Evan and Emily’s story started out as enemies but turned into lovers. Couldn’t put this down until finished. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series

“I want more than one night with you, Emily. For the first time in a long time I want…more.”
There will be lot of swooning in my review. You’ve been warned.
MY FEELINGS.
MY HEART.
OMG.
THIS BOOK.
I NEED EVAN BISHOP.
I have finished reading Needing Him by Kennedy Fox around two months ago, and I am still completely mesmerized by this novel. This IS my biggest favourite by these authors. Ohh Evan! I have already posted a review about the first book in Bishop Brothers series, which is Taming Him, and in it, I wrote this:
“Alex will amaze you and you will be totally blown away, Evan will make you crave for more and more, John will make you swoon a lot (and I mean a really-really lot), and Jackson will steal your heart completely. ”
Yes, after finishing Alex and River’s story, I could honestly say that he is a perfect book boyfriend. Moreover, I already knew that all four of them are. (Get ready, these books are unforgettable.) You can read more about Alex’s book in my review and if you give a chance to this novel, but right now, let’s talk about Evan and Emily’s story, Needing Him. Above you can see that I mentioned that Evan will make you crave for more and more. Yes, he will. You won’t want to finish reading this novel. Why? Let’s see…
“You’re going to be the end of my resolve.”
WOW!!! That was all my reaction after reading the last line in this book. Wow. These authors know how to write an excellent story that you’ll love. Bishop Brothers is everything a romance reader needs, and with reading more and more about them, we adore them better and better and we want more and more.
Lyra Parish and Brooke Cumberland’s collaboration is absolutely wonderful. I love their style, their writings make the already amazing story more easy to read, and because of that, you can finish their novels very soon. There is no lack of romance and no lack of humor, however, besides being so swoonworthy romantic and extremely funny, there are some parts in this book too, which are super emotional, and you’ll read these chapters with lots of sighs. Plus, there is a HUGE and SURPRISING twist, and I read these pages faster to find out what happens with them and how this event effect their lives. And ahhh!!! There is also a big surprise, and you can not expect it. Surprise after surprise.
“The magnetic pull is forcing us together, and the chemistry we have is electrifying and undeniable– it’s what drew us together in the first place.”
Now, let’s talk about the most important part of the book, the characters, because there are a lot of things to say about them. You can not not like Emily, she is such a fantastic bookish heroine. If somebody does or says something bad to her, she won’t let him or her to get away with it. She is very tendentious, smart, determined and really talented. Emily is the perfect partner for Evan, they are a wonderful match, I really do think that he needed a woman like her and finally, he got one. They are so good for each other, I absolutely loved them together.
Evan… Oh Evan! For me, he is the most awesome bookish fictional male character I have ever read about. So incredible. Perfectly imperfect, hard-working, intelligent, caring, loving, funny and ahhh… On the other hand, until Emily and he really get to know each other, there are some moments when I could not decide that if I adore him or not, and there were some scenes when I just wanted Emily to kick him. 😀 Yeah, he is an adorable character, just sometimes, as all of us, he has some bad moments. He totally needed a girl like Emily.
But when they are really close to each other… ahhh. After that happens, you will read with a smile from your ear to ear on your face. ADORE. I really-really liked how they work together in their workplace and in their relationship, too, they can talk about everything, again: they ARE perfect together.
Fortunately, the other members of the Bishop family also get some roles in this novel, too. Alex, River and their little baby are the most sweetest ever and still so loveable. Jackson is still that playboy who we can meet in the previous book, however, maybe, we can see his jealous side, too. For me, here, John is a little bit mysterious, but most of the time, the most myterious ones are the most interesting ones. The last chapter of Needing Him opens his story, and OMG he finds himself in such and unexpected situation.
“Never been surer of anything in my life as long as it’s with you.”
Taking everything into account: I ADORE, ADORE, ADORE, ADORE, ADORE, ADORE this novel. Lyra Parish and Brooke Cumberland surely know how to write a fantastic novel that readers will absolutely adore and completely fall in love with the characters. These authors easily and super soon became one of my biggest favourites, and Bishop brothers even more easily stole my heart.
Six stars. Without question. Six stars.
I absolutely love this book from beginning until end.
As a matter of fact I read it 4x within the 24hrs it was released. I couldn’t put this book down.
I love the wittiness and banter of Evan and Emily.
It’s easy to read and it left me wanting more of there story.
I adored Evan and Emily’s story, this is a standalone in a series so you can read them in any order you’d like. I personally am going in the release order, Taming Him was great BUT Needing Him is my favorite of the brothers yet. I thought this was a great romance with a bit of suspense mixed in. Seeing all the characters together was great and getting a tease of the other brothers has me intrigued. I love how at the end of the stories we get closure yet a cliffhanger, a tease if you will to the next book and what’s to come. I’m hooked on this series and cannot wait for more.
