Need for Speed is the continuation of Solo and Panther’s story and should only be read after book one, Danger Zone.
They train to serve their country.
They strive to be the best.
But only a select few can be…

MATEO MORGAN
CALL SIGN: SOLO
Reckless, arrogant, and bold, Solo is as known in the U.S. Navy for his bad-boy reputation as he is for his skills as a fighter pilot. It’s a … in the U.S. Navy for his bad-boy reputation as he is for his skills as a fighter pilot. It’s a surprise to his peers, then, when he’s chosen to train and compete at the most prestigious naval aviation academy in the world.
MISSION RULES:
1.Kick everyone’s ass.
2.Do whatever it takes to win.
3.Do your best to distract the competition.
4.Especially when that competition is a gorgeous blue-eyed perfectionist who makes your blood run hot.

GRANT HUGHES
CALL SIGN: PANTHER
Disciplined, smart, and confident, Panther can’t afford not to play by the rules. As the son of a top Navy commander, all eyes are on him, and being anything less than number one is unacceptable.
MISSION RULES:
1.Keep it safe in the air.
2.Prove you’re more than Commander Hughes’s son.
3.No distractions. Stay focused.
4.Don’t fall for your competition—especially not the rebellious heartbreaker with lips made for sinning.
In the heat of the hot California sun, tempers flare and desires ignite as Solo and Panther try to resist their attraction while fighting to be number one.
With passion this intense, the question remains:
Who’s gonna come out on top?

I loved how Mateo and Grant both ended up giving into their feelings in this book. It made me love both of them a little more and by the end of the book I was dying with it ending where it did but it made me so happy with how far they came.
The fact that they had the personal relationship they had during this and how they changed along with still being competitive during the Elite training made it that much better because you saw they stayed true to themselves.
The second book in the Elite Trilogy only got better and better following The Danger Zone. This book had me falling even more in love with Panther (Grant) and Solo (Mateo) as individuals as well as a couple.
To me, it was like the first book focused on the ace fighter pilots, Panther and Solo, while Need for Speed brought the readers closer to knowing who Grant and Mateo were as a couple.
The first book ended with Panther having a mechanical malfunction while flying in a hop against one of their instructors at NAFTA. He was forced to eject while Solo watched helpless from the ground. This book began by showing how they were each traumatized by the incident.
It made me really think about what our country’s fighter pilots potentially face each time they take off. I would think pilots had to be without fear and completely addicted to speed in order to accomplish what they face in the sky.
The whole incident also seemed to sweep away all the crap that stood in Panther and Solo’s way of becoming much closer. Solo is there for Panther in every way he needed to help him get back on top again as a fighter pilot at NAFTA. In the process, their hearts opened up in ways they never had before with anyone else.
The way they were together had me feeling a warmth with a smile on my face throughout the rest of the book. No matter the actual storyline, Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine always create perfection that keeps my attention as well as making the heat in the room feel like it’s getting a whole lot hotter and my face hurt from smiling so hard. I can’t wait to see how they bring this trilogy to a close.
With the cliffy of book one of course this one picks up right where that one left off but what I wasn’t expecting but loved was how quickly Panther and Solo’s tune changed. They didn’t change who they were to the core but they both realized that maybe the life they were living wasn’t their best. I don’t want to say too much because spoilers but book 2 was Panther and Solo pulling down their walls and learning about each other without the competition getting between them. It wasn’t as funny as book one but I still loved it immensely. Once again there is another major cliffy but since we all know I waited I was able to jump straight to Classified, the final book in this trilogy. I don’t know why I didn’t notice it in book one but I am getting huge Top Gun vibes which I am sure a lot of readers did but I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. lol
Ahhhhh… I was eagerly anticipating the release of this one and I devoured it as soon as it hit my kindle! Need for Speed picked up right where Danger Zone left off. And I couldn’t be happier.
I think I fell even more in love with Panther and Solo in this book. It was so wonderful, watching them reevaluate their lives and their priorities. I just love when you really get to see characters grow and I felt that this was done so beautifully in this book. Watching the walls that they had erected crack and begin to fall as they start to realize just how the other means is beautiful. They way they cared for each other, the way they were vulnerable with one another — these are things that don’t come easy to them so witnessing it happen… SIGH.
I can’t wait for the last book so that I can see what is in store for these two hotties!
The second book in the series delves even deeper into this sizzling hot relationship between Solo and Panther. Ella and Brooke have a way of making their readers salivate throughout the story and then give us a big hit of tang near the end to make us completely drool for the next instalment!
The story of Solo and Panther continues…still feels reminiscent of Top Gun but a whole lot sexier. What happens when what you thought you always wanted wasn’t REALLY what you wanted? What happens when what you assumed about your life is wrong…in a big way? What happens when you fall for the absolutely last man you should fall for? We may not have all the answers but we are a step closer.
My rating is 3.5 rounded up to 4! Need for Speed picks up where Danger Zone left off, and what a cliffhanger that one was, so if you haven’t read Danger Zone you need to stop and go read it before starting Need for Speed. In Need for Speed Panther and Solo’s relationship begins to move from simply friends with benefits to a real relationship, but these two are definitely not sure how to fully express what it is that they are truly feeling for each other or whether would be a good idea for them to fully express their feelings for each other, since they are both Navy fighter pilots training at NAFTA, and are unsure how their relationship will be received by the other pilots, their superiors, and family members.
One of the things that I enjoyed most about Need for Speed is that it begins to delve more into Panther’s background and to examine more of Panther’s relationship with his father and how each man views his relationship with the other. Despite getting to know Solo’s caring side in this one, I still feel as though I don’t know enough about Solo. I want to know more about him and his background. I hope we get to learn more of Solo’s background in the final book of this series.
Once again Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine have left us hanging on by the seat of our pants with the cliffhanger ending of Need for Speed, and have left us with so many ways that Panther and Solo’s relationship can go, and I can’t wait to see what happens in Classified. Oh, and let me just say that these two ladies have an uncanny ability for writing secondary characters that we come to love as much as the main characters…yup, I am talking about Whiplash, Houdini, Gucci, and the rest of the fighter pilots at NAFTA. I am heavily invested in Whiplash and Houdini, and where that one goes. Hopefully, we will get more of their story in Classified as well.
When we left Solo and Panther in the first book we were holding our breathes and hoping for a positive outcome. While the tragedy could have been so much worse it still left them both rocked to the core and with feelings of doubts and questioning the future. But in a true honest fashion both men learn to lean on each other during good times as well as bad. The ending left me with the sense that happiness can be found in unlikely places.
I am in love with Solo & Panther!
This is the next installment from Book 1, Danger Zone which introduced these delicious men.
Panther surprised me in this book.
I thought he was a certain kind of man but after reading this book, he blew me away.
I knew Panther was holding back but I did not expect him to come into his own.
We have Solo to thank for that!
Solo is his own kinda of brand of man who wish you could find and tame.
But he can’t be tamed except when it comes to Panther.
These two men are full of passion, forbidden desires and straight up love that will make you get all the feels.
Loved the intensity of these two men finding love within each other as well as in themselves.
I can’t wait for the conclusion on this series.

5 popped!
I don’t know if the probleme is with me or with the book. I mean this was the first time I didn’t enjoyed one of Brooke&Ella ‘s story. And don’t know why.
I loved Panther and Solo in the first book and I really couldn’t wait the next one. And here I am, read the book, but it was only lukewarm. Coulnd’t get into the story, there were some boring chapters, couldn’t find the chemistry between Panther and Solo, the sex scenes weren’t as good either – and I just don’t know why.
I think this part wasn’t important for the storyline, no exciting scenes, no scorching hot sex scenes, few romance… and that cliffhanger again.
This time when I say I can’t wait for the next one I mean it this way : I hope the next book will be so much better and my love for Panther and Solo will return. In the meantime I try to forget this book and I swear the probleme is with me.
Aaaaand while I said it wasn’t as good, I mean that it wasn’t as good as the other books by them. It’s still good in other standards – I gave it 4 stars – but I wanted a bit more from this.
5 Swoony Stars
I was so ready for this one after the cliffy they left us with in the first book, and man! Brooke and Ella did not disappoint! I loved getting to know Panther and Solo in the first book, but this one? This book isn’t just about two hot Navy pilots, it’s about two hot Navy pilots coming into themselves and finding who they truly are. And the sex? Steamy AF! This book had so many feels and I couldn’t help but swooning hard over these guys. The writing is superb and with any Ella and Brooke novel, you can’t tell who wrote what and the story just flows. I loved it and I can’t wait for the conclusion to Panther and Solo’s story.

I have been a fan of Solo and Panther since we met them in Danger Zone and fell in love with their flirty banter. What I didn’t love about the first book is being left reeling with that cliffhanger. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long to see what would happen next with these two sexy men.
It seems Panther and Solo were just as surprised at what happened in that cliffhanger than we were and they are both trying to come to terms with the fact that maybe there is more important things in life than flying. Panther is especially struggling with what’s most important to him: flying and being the best fighter pilot that he can be like his dad expects him to be or being his true self and falling in love with the man he is developing major feelings for.
They will both need to figure out where exactly they go from here because this isn’t just “hooking up” anymore. They will need to figure out what is most important to them: fulfilling their lifelong dreams or love.
I really loved seeing Panther and Solo get closer and closer and open up to one another. It was quite refreshing. And don’t get me going on those steamy scenes! When these guys come together, they are combustible and boy, do I love watching the explosion!
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was we were left with another giant cliffhanger and I was left wanting more. Can book 3 be out already?! I cannot wait to see what these amazing ladies have in store for the guys next.
4.5 Stars!
THE WAY THIS BOOK HITS!!!!
Need For Speed starts right off where book 1 ended. We were all holding our breathes after that insane cliffhanger and now we can breathe properly because everyone is okay. FOR NOW!
This story is more emotional and you get to see Panther and Solo being vulnerable with each other. AND. IT. WAS. GLORIOUS. I am a sucker for men baring it all and Brooke and Ella helped us see these two in amazing depth.
I formed genuine emotional connections with these characters so if I wasn’t invested before (believe me I really was) I’d definitely be obsessed now.
I just love the raw, passionate way these characters have been written. I crave this depth in M/M stories and Ella and Brooke are masters of giving you what you want. I am IMPATIENT for the next installment as it cannot come fast enough.
Need for Speed picked up right where Danger Zone left off with that crazy cliffhanger. I don’t want to give anything away but I loved reading more about Solo and Panther. They have so much going against them and you just want them together! Looking forward to book 3 to see how it all ends up!
This is the middle book of a trilogy. You need to read Danger Zone first.
I’m going to keep this brief but I just adore Solo and Panther.
This part of the story really shows the growth in their relationship and you get a better look at the kind of guys they are. It still just as hot and sexy only with more feels. I can’t wait to see where this story ends up as they navigate more challenges heading their way.
Sizzling…
Need For Speed picks right up where the first book left off. So yes you definitely have to read them in order or you will be lost. In Danger Zone we were introduced to these two awesome men Solo and Panther and we ended with one life threatening cliffhanger. In this book, we get more of the feels. We get hearts opening and we get some very sizzling hot scenes. But again we end with a cliffhanger. Now this time I wasn’t prepared but holly molly I don’t care. I’m loving these two wonderful sexy men and I am so excited to get more of their story. Lovin’ this!

it was amazing…..
This is book 2 in the Elite series and again this read will not disappoint. In this book Brooke and Ella embark on a journey give us more details to this couple. We get to see more of the emotional connection that keeps drawing these two together. This book starts off from Panther’s accident and the healing process from this accident leaves Grant “Panther Hughes” questioning a lot of things in his life. Grant begins to question if this life is really what he wants for himself or if he’s interested in a different career path, most importantly leading to whether he wants to start a relationship. On his path to recovery we see just a deep rooted relationship develop between Panther and Solo and their love becomes even more real. In the past Grant always figured that being in a relationship would never be accepted in his field but after having met Solo he begins to wish for more. In this book Solo also starts to evaluate his life and what may happen if he lets someone in. In this book maybe Solo is no longer interested in flying Solo. While Brooke and Ella did it to us again, book 2 ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger and once again leaves the reader wanting and needing more. If you are a romantic at heart and love seeing relationships develop among the most unlikely characters this series is a series for you. If you need a little bit of other characters that add another layer to the story then this is also a series for you. As always I just love Brooke and Ella’s stories and they never disappoint.
Finally Panther and Solo’s relationship is developing into something substantial. I love these two together. They are driven but Panther loses his mojo but Solo is there to pull him up. The two need to make some hard decisions about their relationship. Will they be in it for the long haul? Will they be able to break down the last barriers keeping their hearts safe? Bring on Classified!!
Ok…so I had some time to think about this book and what I have come to realize is that in book 1, I loved Solo..and now in book 2, I loved Panther. 🙂
When Danger Zone ended, I couldn’t wait to see what happened. I’m glad we picked right up from there and we got a better understanding of why Solo acted the way he did. I really felt for him and I also felt for Panther.
I feel that with this book, the both of them open up more and their feelings have grown. Panther is realizing so much about what he wants, but he is conflicted. The passion with them is hotter than ever and we have some sweet moments too. I can’t wait for the final book which comes out next month. After the ending of this one, I’m sure we’re going to be in for an epic conclusion! 🙂
OMG, I could not love Panther and Solo more. This book cements their growing love for each other and I was swept away with them.
This is book two in the trilogy and book one must be read before this one.
After the cliffhanger at the end of book one, I couldn’t wait to see what would be next for Panther and Solo and we pick up where we left off. Panther is dealing with his injuries and its really playing on him not being at his full strength. Solo, though is there for him in ever way, helping him recover and providing the light relief when things get tough.
What I loved most was how their romance pulled me in, they had such a connection that made me want to know more and more about them. Solo has always been confident but I loved the development of Panther and how playful and alpha has was around Solo, his character really came out.
The story was low angst with a few moments of drama, but get those fans out, as this pair are HOT!
As they start to realise how much they mean to each other it also raises questions between them that they have never spoken of, a future with each other. The end is a cliffhanger but it’s not huge, more of a “I can’t wait for them to take this step” and can’t wait for the conclusion.
ARC received for an honest review – thank you
