I have to be honest: it took me a few chapters to like this book. The fmc is not the type I could instantly click with and there were times I thought she was immature and a brat. But when the story progressed, I started to enjoy the banter between her and Alex and I even started to understand her a little better. I still think she could handle things differently, but there isn’t exactly a textbook on how to deal adequately with trauma… It’s actually quite brave to write a book about flawed people. Beside Jaz, there are things to be said about Alex and Gilbert as well, but I have a feeling that all of them together will help them become their best selfs.
This series is quite unique, mainly because of the characters but also because of the view on magic, shifters and other mythical creatures. I allready one-clicked the second book!
Witty, snarky, powerful is just how I like my heroines
While I seem to ignore the fact I don’t particularly like reverse harems this book almost makes it tolerable for me
By the end of the book I wanted more and already had some idea on who the ghost was
Read the whole series once it’s all out if you don’t want withdrawals

Jaz lives in a magic world where she has lost her own magic. Shunned by former friends and kicked out of magic school she doesn’t know what she’ll do with her life. When Jaz suddenly emerges as a necromancer, the first in centuries, life again changes drastically. Back at the magic school she not only has to catch up on five years of studies but also suddenly finds herself with not only one but three mates. At times in the beginning Jaz is annoyingly whiny, but she improves greatly throughout the book. All three mates are awesome and I can’t wait to learn more about them. No magic? For five years Jaz has been ostracized by her former so called friends because she didn’t have enough magic to specialize. And then while meeting her grandmother she finds out she’s the first necromancer in four hundred years and that’s why she’s been seeing ghost for a long time. She thought she was crazy. Now she has to go back to the same school that rejected her and see the same students who shunned her. But this time Jaz is a badass and she won’t take crap from anyone. Especially Alec the warlock who keeps coming on to her. And then the ghost she’s been seeing for years finally talks and she can touch him. And a lycan, hated by the witches is her mate. What has she gotten herself into? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Good story with a likable main character and a storyline that has enough action to keep you interested until the end.
First let me state that I received an advanced reader copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Wow!!! What a gr8 story. Jaz is one spunky girl that had me laughing out loud. I can’t wait to read the next part. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
I loved this book, the characters and story had me reading it in one sitting. This is book one of the series.
Jaz didn’t come into get her magical powers at the same time as her classmates and she has been cast aside because of it. However, there were greater things at play, and she’s actually a rare necromancer. But not every one is happy about it.
I loved Jaz as a character, she was funny, sarcastic, didn’t care what she said and was so loveable. She had the best one-liners. The banter she had with Alec was so funny and he is also an excellent character to read. Throw in a wolf and a ghost and the story had me hooked.
Looking forward to book 2.
I loved this book, it was so dry and snarky it had me laughing out loud, Jaz was wonderfully outspoken and grumpy and at a complete loss at the sudden manifestation of her magic and mates. I can’t wait for book 2, to see what’s next for the group, the narration was great. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Neck-Romancer by Elizabeth Dunlap is a wonderful witch coming of age story full of magic, mischief, and romance. The main character named Jasmine Neck, Jaz to her friends discovers that she holds the unique power of necromancy and is finally able to attend magic school for training. However, things are not quite what she expected when she arrives and she finds out that having her magical specialty comes with some surprises. Also, she seems to have found the loves of her life in those she least expects. This book kept me entertained with Jaz’s antics and the situations she finds herself in. This academy book is a fun more mature version of Hogwarts that anyone who enjoys academy reverse harem romances will love. Neck-Romancer is a magical academy adventure tale.

This is an amazing book to read. Not really a witch PN fan but this is the first series I’m definitely reading. It’s fun, full of surprises and will definitely pull you in til the end. I love Jasmine and the changes she goes though. Not to mention her strength, smarts and willingness to help others. I also, love that her mates are so different, but have grown close to one another in such a short time. Most of all I love their protective nature towards Jasmine and hers towards them. I’m so looking forward to the next book.

I can’t remember smiling so much in a book!
This book is so different in a good way
Love the characters jaz Alec and Gilbert and pierce, they all have different personalities and mash together well and i love it !
I love Jaz’s sass , the book had me wanting not to put it down it’s intriguing and different take on magic and magical creatures and for it to end how it did I can’t wait to read more and find out what’s going to happen next ! I just hope we don’t have to wait too long until book 2 comes out!
I loved this beginning for what I hope to be an exciting series. This book gives a background to Jaz and what she’s been through. I didn’t care for her mother’s version of tough love, bu I liked her grandmother quite a bit. Now that she’s got her magic things should be better, but nothing is ever that easy. I loved Gilbert, her ghost, the most. He is so excitable he makes me laugh. Pierce, the alpha wolf, is so chill with her and even the other guys and how he has to act at the school. Alec, is more volatile but very possessive. It really is great that they all seem to accept each other, even with the occasional digs. I guess that’s what I like about it. Her kidnapping seemed to hit Alec the hardest even after she told them what it was all about. I am really excited to see what will happen with them next. I want Gilbert to be able to get his turn in the world. This can’t be the end. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is about a woman(Jaz) that is trying to get her live back on track. Jaz is trying to live with out magic because for some reason it is not to be right now. Jaz had not specify in one of the magic so she could not go to the school that her friends has going to. The Witches find their mates it can be more then one. Jaz was sent to her grandmother’s house because her mother was not wanting her to moping around the house. Now would be the time to buy the book so you can find out what is happening. I will be buying books from this author. Thank you for writing the books so we can read them…
Neck-Romancer is full of suspense, magical action, thrills, and romance. Some moments remind me of high school drama. The relationship between Jaz, Alek Pierce, and Gilbert does get a bit steamy. There are also many laugh out loud moments and a few giggle moments. You have to root for Jaz to get through all she has on her shoulders and that she will find a way to learn to master her gift. The ending leads me to believe that there is more to come on this adventure.
I look forward to reading more about Jaz and her guys.

I’m of two minds when it comes to this book. On one hand, I really dig the snarky, sarcastic nature of the FMC. Her semi-lackadaisical attitude about her life had me laughing a few times. Her attitude really drives the plot in some scenes. On the other hand, there’s a lot of threads hanging in the subplot right now that it makes me wonder if all of them will be answered or left to float in the breeze. There are scenes were continuity is lacking or is so poorly understood (how did they get into the train at the end?? Where were they going??) that I was forced to reread some parts. And the ending threw me off big time. I still feel like I missed some pages or something because I have no idea why Alec blew up and then just walked away. What happened?? I just hope for more clarity in the next book.

Necromancer books seem to be coming out in spades right now and this one was unique in its own way. This one is based in a hidden magical world from humans, though not much detail is given like if its a Harry Potter sorta separation or a pocket world or alternative universe. It starts off introducing us to Jaz Neck who surprises ends up being a NEC-romancer. She starts off as an outcast and we get to see that part of her life before things start changing as well as how it affects her when she finally gets back to Highborn Academy. Add in a few guys, some mean popular kids, and magic that hasn’t been seen in centuries. While it wasn’t quite the same caliber as the Born series, it was a cute and interesting read.
