This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human,’ it is book #1.5 in the ‘Knitting in the City’ series, and it is a full length, 105k word novel. There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit. After just five months of … of dating Janie, Quinn–former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat–is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day–thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions. But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane. Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?Regardless, one thing is for certain, Quinn Sullivan will have to learn to expect the Spanish Inquisition (i.e. the unexpected) if he plans to have and keep Janie Morris as his wife.Again, you must read ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human’ first before reading this book. This book is written in first person, alternating POV (Janie Morris AND Quinn Sullivan; but more Janie than Quinn)

I just love these two! I could read many more books about them and never get bored. I was so happy to read Quinn’s POV. I’m a sucker for dual POV.
I still get a kick out of Janie spouting off facts, I learn so much. The whole proposal scene was great. Vegas, hilarious. The wedding, amazing! Oh, the two of talking about what they can and can’t do throughout their marriage, loved it!
If you want to read a great book that makes you laugh, has interesting characters with fantastic writing. Well, this book is definitely for you!
I am really glad Penny reid wrote this sequel. It was a great continuation of the first novel. I loved how she explored Quinn and Janie’s personal, romantic relationship as they transitioned from bf/gf to being engaged.
This story was told mostly from Janie’s perspective with 4 or 5 chapters told from Quinn’s perspective, which I really liked. I read Ms. Reid’s Winston Brothers series before starting this one, so I was already familiar with Janie and Quinn and Quinn’s sister Shelly, who is the heroine of Winston Bros book 4. I wish that I had of read the two Neanderthal books before reading Shelly’s story. Shelly, as a heroine and with her condition, would have made more sense to me. So I’d recommend reading all Knitting in the City books first before reading Winston Bros. Even though the Knitting books are said to be standalone’s, I really wouldn’t consider them to be that way. But that’s just me.
I loved Quinn’s parents! I liked that Ms. Reid wrote the contrast of parenting between Quinn and his family and Janie and her family. I loved how, ultimately, that Janie realized that LOVE is much more important than blood when it comes to who is your family.
Janie herself, had excellent character progression! I loved that once she realized something, she accepted it, adjusted herself, and moved on! There was no denial or dragged her feet. I love that kind of person.
This was a great book, Penny Reid is an EXCEPTIONAL author and I can’t wait to read the rest of her novels!
Good gravy, I was cracking up while reading NMH! My personal favorite line was Quinn’s view on marriage proposing- “Proposing is like giving someone your dick and a sharp knife, then waiting to see what they do next.”-Ha! It’s just really hard to top that moment, but honestly this was just one great line among many to be found in this book! Janie and Quinn are the main focus, but meeting Quinn’s family caused some “awwww” feels, and the Vegas trip…no words, but lots of laughter! And Dan the Security Man (seriously I can’t quit calling him that dang name! Dan just sounds so, well, plain)…definitely has his hands full with Kat. Probably more than he was planning…
NMH was heartwarming, hilarious, reflective, even considerate. What makes this series so addictive are the characters themselves. They give really interesting food for thought, sometimes on everyday things I’ve never given a second thought to, in such a way I don’t even realizing my brain is crinkling. Even more, they’re honest, quirky, and so freaking unique, they’ll linger long after I’ve finished reading their stories.
I’ve read everything I can find by Penny and her books are some of the few I am willing to pay for the day they come out even though I pay for Kindle Unlimited (Knitting in the City series isn’t on the plan.) I love her, love her characters, love their interactions. I don’t love every book in the series simply because I don’t relate to every character as well as the others. I love how every one of the guys in the books is interesting and well rounded, have fleshed out family stories and careers and interests. This is a great series. You won’t be disappointed!
I was so glad that Penny Reid did a part 2 to this story! It’s a wonderful story and absolutely hilarious!! This is part of a series called “Knitting in the City” and is about a group of women that knit together. The same characters appear in each of the books so it’s a lot of fun to read the whole series and find out the story behind each character. This continues the story of weird, smart Janie and Quinn. I loved this book!
