This may be my favorite (so far) of Carl Hiaasen’s books. Laugh out loud funny and just the right amount of twisted adventure to keep the pages turning. Set in the backdrop of a Disney theme park competitor, the story begins with the inept kidnapping (or vole-napping) of two blue-tongued endangered voles. That’s the most normal thing that happens. …
I’ve read almost every Carl Haissen book. And this one is just as good as his previous works. I used to be amazed at how he could come up with such crazy criminals in his stories. But then I started reading his columns in the newspaper. Haha these criminals in Florida were right out of the news. Sheesh. He just hand picked them from the news …
Corruption, environmentalism, endangered species, and animal rights all wrapped up in a very funny black comedy. Buy everything Mr Hiaasen has written. He’s a genius.
Oh, Carl, you out do your excellent and very funny self.
Carl Hiaasen is wildly funny
One of my favorite authors as he is always entertaining.
I LIKE CARL HAAS
Silly.
His books are always great…this one per usual full of nutty characters and lots of plot twists.
Welcome to South Florida, and North Key Largo. Here you’ll find burglars, hit men, a mob informer, a pistol packing senior citizen and tourists. Joe Winder is investigating the death of a veterinarian at an amusement park when he stumbles across a far-reaching plot by the park owner and his roided-up security chief, to despoil the surrounding …
All you need to know: it’s a Carl Hiaasen book.
Carl Hiaasen is one of the best, most original writers anywhere. You can’t miss with any of his books!
Not his best book but still worth reading. Funny with quirky characters. The irony in his books is always a treat
Great reading
Hiaasen is always fun and entertaining.
Everyone with a sense of humor and sit will love Hiassen. I grew up in South Florida so I very much appreciate the characters that others would see as odd but are right at home in Florida.
Just did not grab me.
You can’t go wrong with a Carl Hiaasen book. So ridiculously funny.
BORING. COULD NOT GEET INTO THE PLOT AT ALL. NO HUMOR, NO SUSPENSE
NOTHING. SORRY I BOUGHT IT. EVEN FOR $.99 .
A classic by this author; gut wrenchingly funny. The usual group of misfits all wearing what look like obvious “white hates” and “black hats” that they trade around or leave at home.
Faux endangered blue-tongued mango voles stolen from amusement park built to compete with Disney in Florida are used as projectiles instead of delivered to the …
