People say that being in love is the best feeling in the world. What a bloody lie!I hate that I’m in love with Serena and that she used me to get what she wanted. What good is it that my heart and body is a twisted mess of longing for her when I’m also furious with her for hurting my sister, River?I don’t care if Serena is a Hollywood star — no one messes with my family!Nathan is a man with too … family!
Nathan is a man with too many ghosts in his past to stand still and face them. After being dismissed from the army for anger management issues, he’s traveling the world and setting records in extreme sports.
When a plot to get back at Serena for hurting his sister goes wrong, Nathan is front and center in a media storm that brings up his tragic past once again. This time, there’s no outrunning it. Nathan will need to prove that he’s more than what the media portray him as. But what if the media are also wrong about Serena?
Nathan’s story is the fourth installment in Elin Peer’s romance series, Cultivated. Readers find it impossible to put down and rave about the characters jumping off the page.

Have you read Elin Peer’s works? If not, then you have no idea the level of work this author brings to everything she writes. “Nathan”, the fourth book in the “Cultivated” series is no exception. If you’re reading my review then I’m guessing you’ve already read the description of the story and other reviews before mine so there’s really no need to give you a synopsis of this book. What I will do is sing the praises of Ms. Peer for her level of depth in not only her world-building but for her characters as well. This is not the average romance you’re probably used to reading. Saying the words I love you is easy and usually, the circumstances that force a decision or are fate induced work themselves out wonderfully. I can always depend on Elin to bring a bit of realism to her stories. You know, that thought-provoking set of circumstances or conversation that bring about a true to life reaction or decision. Heroes and heroines are built on their reactions to these events and I’m always amazed by how much each of these makes me ponder my own reaction. This was a great read and I can’t wait to read River’s story.
Nathan and Serena’s story is powerful as it is amazing. Your emotions will be all over the place with this one. Nathan’s childhood is one that will have lasting impressions and impact the caliber of man he will become. Nathan is out for revenge for his sister but was thrown into a negative limelight. Serena has her own problems and her track record is not a great one either. You are drawn into this story right from the beginning and find your self cheering Nathan and Serena on to a happily ever after.
This is book 4 in the series and it is just as good as the previous 3! I loved the love story between Serena and Nathan. Reading about all they went through because of reporters and their false stories made my heart break for them. It takes a lot to move me but this book did A few times I had tears in my eyes with happiness and frustration. lol If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it.
I love reading anything from Elin! She is a very good writer and keeps her readers captivated and entertained.
Elin Peer’s writing is magic, as she brings her characters to life. They become so real that I feel like a peeping Tom!
Character-driven stories make the best books. They’re the stories that keep us reading and they are the ones that are remembered long after the book is back on the shelf.
The media storm that ensues in the story really got me riled up! I think everybody is pretty tired of the media in real life at this point. I was rooting for Nathan and Serena the whole time.
I recommend this book because it’s more than a romance; it’s a love story.
The illusion is that anyone can write a romance. The reality is that not everyone can write a story that draws you in and takes you on the journey with the characters, Elin Peer does that in spades. Her characters aren’t always the best of people and yes they have flaws. The romance isn’t about jumping in the bed it’s about the two people and all of their troubles and successes. Nathan is the epitome of that, he’s got issues i spades, he’s been torn up battered and abused and yet he has made it to the other side and actually found someone that just might be more. Stupid mistakes and a desire to protect his sister leads him into a dark avenging circle.
She has dealt with the press, the lies the manipulation that goes with the territory. The question becomes do two wrongs make a right? This is a story of trust and how easily it can be manipulated or destroyed, how fragile and fine that line can become. It’s not an insta love type of read. It gets down and dirty at times even dealing with true life too close to home. Is Nathan perfect? OH HELL to the NO!! That in itself is one of the things that make this authors books awesome. It’s an emotional read that will have you clearly checking your inner moral compass and facing your own questions. It’s a great addition to the series and gives us answers to who Nathan really is and the impact of his time at the Manor.
This book was absolutely outstanding. This is Book Four in the Cultivated Series. I rate it beyond five stars. For me, Nathan’s story has been the best story told thus far. Nathan Robertson and Serena Star were great characters with hot and steamy chemistry. Faced with many obstacles, this story between Nathan and Serena proves love really can conquer all. This book is a must read and I highly recommend.
No spoilers of any kind included.
Nathan was pretty awesome but then again every book in the Cultivated series has been amazing.
Basically Elin Peer has created yet another amazing masterpiece.
So yes it’s definitely a big HECK YEAH I do recommend this book but if you haven’t read the first three books before this one then I highly suggest that you do.
*An ARC was provided by the author, publisher or a promotional service and I have chosen to publish a fair and honest review*
Honesty 5 stars – This is a refreshing take on romance. The struggles feel real. Nathan’s honesty is very welcome. Serena’s steadfastness is characteristic of a decent human. Elin Peer has once again created a story that showcases real feelings, real doubts, real attraction and real love. Right from the beginning, the book pulled you in. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
This was one outstanding book with a great storyline and characters that were created with such great detail and depth that Serena and Nathan kept me in total awe as I turned each page until the very end!
A wonderful captivating story.
This book is fantastic! Elin Peer knows how to write a story that makes you see and feel where it’s taking place. She writes the characters as if you are there in the story with them! The storyline with Nathan will pull you in and make you feel for him and hope that he allows gets a happy future! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Thought provoking.
Nathan is close to his sister, River. He’s got a full range of emotions going on and a little revenge gone wrong in the media.
Serena is a celebrity and I had a harder time connecting to her. She’s also in the media.
The media definitely plays a major role in this book.
Lots of drama and angst.
Trying not to give any spoilers.
Just that I really relate to Elin Peer’s writing and can highly recommend.
Purchased.
Great addition to a fabulous series. Nathan and Serena’s story was about seeing past the smoke and mirrors until you can see what’s reality and what’s not and the way it was written was perfect and kept my interest piqued throughout the book!
≈≈≈ Nathan & the Star …will they shine or just blow up?
The children of the Red Manor have grown up and each has their own set of issues that they have worked through or continue to work on. The beginning of Nathan’s story felt like going back home to your favorite chair, you’ve been here before, so get comfortable. The story weaves through twists and turns and you’re not sure that Nathan and Serena are going to make it to their HEA. Serena’s family is definitely not on board with their beloved daughter/sister being connected in any way with Nathan. Maybe this time the dare devil Nathan has taken on more than he can handle?
This series is amazing – you definitely want to get in on this series! Kudos Elin Peer!
Oh Boy Talk About Backfire Big-time!!!
Nathan sets out to seduce Serena to get revenge for what she did to his sister. Nathan and River have always had each other’s backs but something feels off. Complex and damaged from a childhood that scared them all for life. They only trust each other.
What ensues is a media storm of epic proportions not in there favor. It’s not easy,it’s not safe but it’s what I’ve come to love about this author.
This is a great story about overcoming every obstacle to find your forever.
River’s story is next and I have a feeling it’s gonna be the hardest of all. Bring it on!!
Thoroughly engaging…
Cultivated is an awesome series – each book is better than the last or rather, each book can stand on its own and none disappoints. I loved reading Nathan. The writing just flows and the realism of the character depictions and dialogue is perfect. The uniqueness of Serena and Nathan’s love story is that it deals mostly with confronting the perceptions of others which is hyped by so-called journalists and the mass media – so apropos to today’s current awakening.
The fact that so many people buy into the sensationalism and lies and then can set off a social media frenzy that is hurtful and destructive is a real issue in our high-tech society that Elin Peer handles delicately but definitely shines a light on. Thus, this novel is fitting to the times and should appeal to true romance lovers and seekers of truth.
Inner struggles and emotions are revealed as is typical of this series and others by Elin Peer and culminate in honest and gratifying conclusions. Getting to intimately know each member of the Robertson clan has been intriguing and entertaining and I look forward to more pleasurable reading.
You always think that a series would get boring after awhile. But the way Peer is writing this series it’s like a little story for each child that lives in that Cult. This was a pleasant surprise again. Peer is always a surpriser. That’s why I love everything she writes. Nathan’s character was just like how he was discerned in the first book of the series. A quiet troubled man who never gives up. And respects women like how he would of liked to have treated his mother.
Nathan was more lighthearted, which is probably a good thing right now with the Pandemic. It was little sprinkled with sugary coating, which I feel is Nathan soul.
I received an ARC copy to give a fair and honest review.
This book did not cause me to tear up even once, even though it was full of emotional plot action. I think it was because I was in my head, so fascinated by the way the author carried out the cult theme in both the strengths and the weaknesses of the characters who were taken into the cult as children: how the dramatic incidents in their life affected their choice of careers, decisions at turning points, and choice of partners. Then the whole mob reaction to social media and its likeness to the psyche of cult followers. And not to forget, the psychopathic ways of those who manipulate the press and mob mood for their own advantage just as a cult leader does. Elin Peer is a most gifted author on so many fronts. I’d like to mention her perfect grammar, spelling, and punctuation that has become precious in this day of self-publishing. I highly recommend this read!
Once again Elin Peer does not disappoint. Nathan’s book gives us another look at a child from a cult. Yes, it is a romance story, but oh so much more. All of her books give you more than you’d ever expect from a romance story. They often make me cry, laugh, and even gasp at some of the things that happen to these characters. Definitely worth spending the money to read!
This is my new favorite. This one touched me on so many levels. It’s more than just another romance. It has all the things to be a great romance! The characters are outstanding! But this one makes you look at things on a deeper level. You take a second look at the story but also at yourself and your feelings and actions. A reflection of what is going on. It is a must have book. Check it and the series iut. You won’t be disappointed! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book from the author and I bought it!
