Posey Adler is coming home. After a devastating journey for what she mistakenly thought was true love, she is saying to hell with men and love forever. As the Nashville Assassins’s new assistant coach for special teams, Posey is ready to focus on her job and have the attention on her for a change. She’s been haunted by her place in her sister’s shadow, but this is her chance to shine and force … her family to take notice. But in order to make a name for herself, she’s going to have to go toe-to-toe with her team’s leading power play scorer.
Boon Hoenes lives for special teams. The power play is his favorite thing about the game. He loves having that advantage over his opponent. And most of the time, it’s his quick thinking that sends the puck to the back of the goal when he’s on the ice. Off the ice, however, no amount of quick thinking prepared his heart for being dumped by his college sweetheart. Boon has sworn off women, but when Posey Adler comes onto his ice—and kicks him off his beloved power play—he decides she’s one woman he doesn’t want to swear off.
They’ve both been hurt, but instead of going in for the penalty kill, Boon is ready to convince Posey their hearts are the secret to how they’ll win.
How they’ll score the ultimate goal.
A forever kind of love.

Hockey romance is definitely one of my favorites and the Nashville Assassins series has always been one of my favorites as well. Power Play is a strong addition to this already fantastic series!
Posey Adler has always lived in her older sister Shelli’s shadow. She’s felt like she’s always been the second choice and for once, she wants to be the one that someone chooses for just being her. She takes a chance and lays her heart on the line with a man she was convinced she was in love with, only to be spectacularly rejected. She returns home and ends up going to work as a special teams assistant with the Assassins, where she decides she’s going to just focus on work.
Boon Hoenes is a winger for the Assassins who has just had his heart shattered. He thought he had found the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life when, but he’s learned she’s been cheating on him and their engagement and relationship is over. He decides to focus on hockey and at this point he has no plans to enter into another romantic entanglement of any kind.
As the youngest special teams coach in the league, Posey puts her knowledge and expertise to the test when she starts working with Boon and the other guys on the power play. She finds Boon to be intriguing, but she’s convinced that he would never go for a woman like her, especially compared to his former fiancee. Boon is taken by Posey and when he tries to make a move, he thinks she’s avoiding him, but in reality, she doesn’t realize he’s hitting on her because she’s never had it happen!
The chemistry between Posey and Boon is off the charts. They are super hot together, but beyond that, the friendship that they build with one another along with the physical part of their relationship, is amazing. They are there for one another, they support one another and they look out for one another. When you talk about wanting to find someone that is your person, Boon and Posey are definitely that for one another!
I enjoyed this book so much and Toni Aleo did a fantastic job with it. Posey and Boon may be my favorite couple that she’s ever written. I feel like these characters could be my friends because we get to know them all so well and this love story left me swooning for sure. I can’t wait for what’s next for us in the world of the Assassins!
Posey Adler has always lived in his sister Shelli’s shadow, and the one time she decides to go for it, she comes home heartbroken. To say she’s hurt would be an understatement, luckily for her, she is now working for the Nashville Assassin’s as the assistant coach for special teams. She knows everything there is to know about hockey, and this is her chance to move out from Shelli’s shadow and prove to herself, and her family that she is a force all on her own. She is going to reform the Assassin’s power play unit into an unstoppable force, but that going toe-to-toe with Boon Hoenes.
Boon Hoenes is a killer hockey player, and the power play is his favorite part of the game. After getting dumped by his cheating fiancé Boon is taking a break from woman and focusing even more on his game, but when the new assistant coach for special teams wants to take Boon off the power play, he realizes there is something about Posey that he can’t get enough of. She pushes him hard on the ice, and he soon realizes he wants her to push him hard off the ice as well. As Boon and Posey spend more time together their feelings get harder and harder to ignore, can they keep it professional or will they give in?
Hands down one of my all-time favorite Toni Aleo books. Just when I think I can love a couple more she gives me a couple I can’t live without! Posey and Boon are fantastic, and watching Posey come into her own throughout this story and realize that she isn’t stuck in Shelli’s shadow was beautiful to read. There isn’t one Toni Aleo book that I don’t love, and I swear the more she writes the better they get! She has a way with words, that makes you feel like you are a part of the book and living vicariously through these characters. You feel their pain and celebrate their triumphs. Couldn’t ask for a better book to close out 2019 with!
