Posey Adler is coming home. After a devastating journey for what she mistakenly thought was true love, she is saying to hell with men and love forever. As the Nashville Assassins’s new assistant coach for special teams, Posey is ready to focus on her job and have the attention on her for a change. She’s been haunted by her place in her sister’s shadow, but this is her chance to shine and force … her family to take notice. But in order to make a name for herself, she’s going to have to go toe-to-toe with her team’s leading power play scorer.
Boon Hoenes lives for special teams. The power play is his favorite thing about the game. He loves having that advantage over his opponent. And most of the time, it’s his quick thinking that sends the puck to the back of the goal when he’s on the ice. Off the ice, however, no amount of quick thinking prepared his heart for being dumped by his college sweetheart. Boon has sworn off women, but when Posey Adler comes onto his ice—and kicks him off his beloved power play—he decides she’s one woman he doesn’t want to swear off.
They’ve both been hurt, but instead of going in for the penalty kill, Boon is ready to convince Posey their hearts are the secret to how they’ll win.
How they’ll score the ultimate goal.
A forever kind of love.

Power Play is the latest book by Toni Aleo that introduces you to yet another set of amazing characters. I don’t know how she does it time and again but with each book they get better and better. You don’t have to read them all to read any one of them. Her books are like the ultimate cheese it snack. You can’t read just one!
Posey Adler is one of 5 children and the younger (by 10 months) daughter of Shea and Ellie Adler. In a family of amazing people though she often feels invisible and over looked. Hockey is not only in her blood its her passion. She loves figuring out the plays and making her own. Fresh off of her first heart break shes ready to focus solely on her new job as the assistant power play coach for the Assassins.
Boon Hoenes is an Assassins player who lives to be on special teams. He’s hard working, dedicated, and willing to do just about anything to get the job done…. EXCEPT apparently be able to do what Posey Adler wants. She comes into his world and sends it for a spin immediately trying to kick him off the power play. Not what he wants after being freshly tossed aside by his college sweetheart. On the ice Posey is demanding perfection, off the ice Boon is demanding answers. They both need to learn how to communicate with each other to get what they think they want. Only then will they end up with what they really need. This book is so good you won’t be able to put it down. You’ll read it again and again just to make sure you didn’t miss anything and bring you back to the feelings that it gave you the first time. I can’t say enough good things about Toni Aleo, her writing talent is beyond words. You can’t go wrong with ANY of her books so pick one, pick them all. Dive head first into the best binge reading you will ever have. You won’t regret picking up Power Play!

Having lived in her twin sister‘s shadow, Posey Adler decides to take a chance on her future. After falling in love with a man, who as it turns out doesn’t see her the same way, she comes back home heartbroken. As the assistant coach for special teams, Posey works with her Uncle Jakob to get the Nashville Assassins in shape to win the cup. Posey helps put plays together, which is where she meets Boone Hoenes. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they clicked almost from the moment they met. Having just gotten un-engaged, Boone isn’t looking for a relationship. But the more time he spends with Posey, the quicker he falls for her. I loved this book, and getting glimpses of the original characters. In Power Play, we get quite a bit of Shea and Elli Adler! This was a fun read with relatable characters, and I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Next Generation series.
The Next Generation…. Amazing
Author Toni Aleo, in my opinion has freaking done it yet again with her latest release of Power Play. Power Play is the second book in Ms. Aleo’s Nashville Assassins: Next Generation series. I am so in love with this wonderful series, and when I read the blurb for this book, I could not wait for it to hit my Kindle and did an all-nighter when it did. I could not put it down, I loved every word!!
Posey Adler and Boon Hoenes…WOW! I really enjoyed watching the relationship grow between Posey and Boon, first as coach/player, then friends, and finally love. The chemistry between them could light your reader on fire, it was so hot. They are definitely meant for each other. Each a little emotionally damaged from past relationships. This reminds me of my favorite quote in the by Shea Adler, Posey’s father, “Sometimes, two people fall in love….” Sorry/not sorry Ladies, I refuse to give ANYthing away. You most definitely will want to read this for yourselves.
Posey Adler is the second child of the Elly/Shea Adler clan, and in her own mind she is tired of always coming in second to her sister Shelli, Posey can’t see that she is just as big of a star in her own right. Posey is the new assistant coach for special teams for the Nashville Assassins, and darn good at it. She sees things in the players that no one else sees. Her one problem, well maybe two, Boon Hoenes, the leading power play scorer. However, she feels he is not living up to his full potential and does not feel he should be on the power play special teams…. Let the battle begin.
Boon Hoenes thrives on special teams, particularly the power play, and feels that his stats have earned him a spot on the power play, and is determined to prove it to Posey… However, staying focused on keeping his spot on the power play special teams is not his only problem. Yeah, his focus keeps straying to his beautiful and intriguing special teams assistant coach Posey.
Ms. Aleo does a PHENOMENAL job developing her characters. They are “real” and totally relatable. When I was first introduced to Posey in Dump and Chase, I was not sure if I cared for her, but as this story and her character was developed in this book, I began to understand her more, and grew to love her as much as the other characters in previous books in both Assassins series.
I was gifted with an early copy of this wonderful book for my reading enjoyment and my opinions on the book. In my opinion, if you are a fan of sports romance, heck, ANY romance, I believe you will love this book as much as I have.
Thank you for reading my review and have a great day.
What are you waiting for? Go hit that purchase button, sit down and read this spectacular book.
Happy reading!!!

In Power Play, Ms Aleo returns us to the world of the Nashville Assassins focusing on Posey Adler, younger daughter of series foundation Ellie and Shea Adler.
Posey is a character we’ve seen briefly in previous books, but don’t know well. We get to know her and love interest/hockey player, Boon, much better here.
Both characters come together after being hurt and seeing them take second chances on love is sweet and heartwarming. I liked both Posey and Boon and enjoyed their interactions as they tried to figure things out.
My struggle/complaint with the book is the set up. The Assassins is a family team and while Posey is uniquely qualified for the coaching position given to her, I would have expected more push back about her getting involved with a player on the team. I felt like this was a conflict element that could have been explore more fully and make the story stronger.
I am curious to see where the Next Generation portion of the series is headed.
The Nashville Assassins are not just a hockey team they are a family and that family gets stronger with every book. I loved every one of the original Assassins and this new generation just gets better and better. Visiting with the older guys while getting to know the new players is amazing. I love Toni Aleo’s writing and these great characters. Posey and Boon’s story is so full of feelings, the attraction was there but I really liked the way the love grew. Boon is such a strong man both in his character and body but the way he cared for Posey made him swoon-worthy. I loved this book can’t wait for the next one.
This is how you kick up a series with the NextGen of players. If you love hockey romances, then Toni Also and her Nashville Assassins series is likely already on your radar. From the beginning with Shea and Elli, her love and knowledge of hockey shines through, but even better are the characters who made you love them. Shea and Elli were the standard and the backbone of the entire Nashville Assassins series. With a new set of characters – and many of them the all-grown-up children of the first series – we have a new couple to build a series on – Posey and Boon. While Posey has lived much of her life in her sister’s shadow, she comes into her own as an assistant coach for the special teams. Of course this is after she’s had her heart broken by Maxim – she’s harbored a secret crush on him and he thinks of her as a sister. But then there’s Boon, a hot-as-hell hockey player, and he only has eyes for Posey once she steps on the ice. It’s a wonder there’s not steam coming off them during practice. As this relationship levels up, there is so much heat but this story also has loads of humor and fun. I could not wait to see what else would happen. When Posey hides Boon in a kitchen pantry and he’s caught eating marshmallows, it had me in tears. Boon is a great character – definitely swoon-worthy. I am just loving this series!
Quotes I loved:
We challenge each other, but we love even harder.
I want to be all her firsts and all her lasts. No one will take that joy, that gift from me.
She stole my heart and I’ve decided to let her keep it
Oh Posey! I was excited about this book because well, who doesn’t love a good hockey romance? Toni has never failed to disappoint.
Posey wants to make the plays and see them executed with as much passion as she has making them. Boon does not want to see his weak spot, specially when they are pointed out by a beautiful, smart woman. He thinks she does not like him, and even admits he can be a little part of an a$$. Both have been hurt by others and it just takes a little bit for them to get together.
I loved Posey and Boon and Shea putting in his appearances made me laugh so hard. I can not wait for the next book.
I didn’t think I could love any two characters more than Shea and Elli, but Posey and Boon just melted my heart. So many things spoke to me with these two. Posey id from one of the biggest hockey families and loves the game. She joins the Assassins as their new power play coach and Boon considered himself a power play guy. Boon coming out of a failed engagement wasn’t looking for a relationship neither was Posey after baring her heart and having it broken. They just couldn’t resist their chemistry. Because of their careers they begin a relationship in secret. While they had some up and down moments I loved how they really didn’t have a big break up. It was refreshing to have them work through their stuff without one. Shea’s reaction when he finds out about them is great. He is such a papa bear. A must read for any hockey romance fan!!!
This book was amazing!! Boon has got to be one of my absolute favorite book boyfriends ever!! Seriously, this guy just made my heart melt. Just you wait. And Posey, she was pretty damn fantastic herself!! I hated seeing her with self-doubts and insecurities, but growing up Adler I’m sure wasn’t the easiest. But I loved how Boon saw her for who she was – he was totally enamored with her beauty and brains. She was unlike anyone he had ever met and she made him want to try again, after having his heart broken. They just connected on such a different level and were absolutely perfect for one another.
Where can I find a Boon of my own?
This book is everything I needed and so very much more… it may even be my favorite Toni Aleo book to date and there are so many in competition for that title.
I literally read this book in two sittings, I mean a girl has to work otherwise I would have forgone sleep. Power Play is just that good. I felt all the feelings while reading this amazing story of second chances at second love.
Boon and Posey have stolen my heart and they are not giving it back. I want more of their story… heck I want more Toni Aleo words in my life.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
So I am a newer reader to Toni Aleo books, meaning I love the generation Assassin stories but I did not read the original series at all. This is book 2 or 3 in the series and I have read all of them though we haven’t seen Posey that much before and Boon is a brand new character. So this book can stand alone. However this story features ALOT of Shelli and Aidan so I definitely recommend you read their story first.
Posey is 21 years old, just graduated college and she gets a job working for her mother who owns the Assassins Hockey Team as a play coach. Meaning she teaches the players plays and her attention is on the special team that Boon is on.
Posey is living at home and is pretty broke because she went after this guy who she had a crush on and it did not go well. Boon just got his heart broken by his ex Julia who cheated on him while they were engaged and is now engaged to the guy she cheated with.
The two meet and instalust is born but Posey thinks Boon would never be interested in her because she is the ugly/thick Adler sister (Shelli’s her sister) . Meanwhile Boon thinks she is super hot but he comes from nothing and so he thinks she wouldn’t date him. But he likes her a lot and so he cannot resist trying and trying and trying….
This story was absolutely awesome. At first I was hesitant because Boon comes off as a jerk but when he falls for Posey, he is all in and I fell hard for him as Posey does. He is the best part of this book as he is very honest throughout the story about what he wants and he wants Posey more than anything in this world.
Posey has a tough time believing how awesome Boon is and how he truly sees her. These two together are a really beautiful couple and this story made me laugh, cry and it has a all the feels
Two broken hearts making their power play for love
Posey Adler just put her heart on the line for the first time in her life and walked away with it in pieces. growing up in the shadow of Shelly Adler can give anyone self esteem issues. She sees herself as the tall curvy tomboy who would rather fade into the background ( or that no one sees) and create hockey plays than put herself out there. She has confidence in one thing and that is hockey. Posey takes a position as assistant coach on the Assassins hockey special teams. Everyone knows that the Assassins need help on their power play.
boon hones is coming out of a failed engagement, he questions what went wrong and what he did wrong but decides to avoid getting his heart crushed again. . he has one thing that keeps him going and that is hockey and his place on the power play.
Boon is not happy when he sees his new coach, Posey makes him feel something, he doesn’t know what but something. Posey and Boon have plenty of on and off the ice battles, pushing each other to be better. is is like two halves of a whole connecting and making each other shine. as a couple they both have to work out their self doubts and good communication.
I really enjoyed the story. Boon was very swoon worthy and what every girl hopes to find. great read!
Cue the tears. Cue the sighs. Cue the laughter. Boon and Posey blew me away. This is Toni Aleo PERFECTION!!
These two souls are both fiercely motivated to succeed. Both have had their hearts broken by people when didn’t see the awesomeness they had before them. Watching these two dance around first their attraction and then dealing with the insecurities their pasts created was…well it was so much. Posey Adler was everything and more that I didn’t know I needed her to be. She’s such the mix of Elli and Shea in all the ways. So many times and so many things that were reminiscent of her parents’ story. And Boon Hoenes. Holy moly do I love this man!! Big, fierce, loyal, and oh so romantic. He was funny at times, awkward with his feelings at times; but he was unequivocally the exact man Posey needed. At the same time Posey was the exact woman that Boon did.
This book continues my love affair with the Nashville Assassins world. I say this is my favorite every time Toni releases a new book, but man oh man Posey & Boon; yeah they are absolutely my favorite. (for now).
4.5 Stars
I’ve been waiting for Posey’s story. I love her knowledge of the game and I knew a special guy would snap her up. I loved Boon so much. He has so many swoon worthy moments in this one. Boon is prime book boyfriend material. I loved Boon’s friendship with his teammates Wes and Aiden. Posey’s dad Shea, I get such a kick out of him. His reactions to what his children do especially his daughters is hilarious. This book was hard to put down because I just wanted to gobble it right up. It’s a book you can’t stop reading, but also one you hate to see end. I can’t get enough of Toni Aleo’s hockey romances.
How to begin with Posey Adler’s book? Well first, if your either a long time assassin fan or first time reader you are going to love this Assassins next generation book. And I mean LOVE it. It has everything a romance reader wants in a great story: banter, humor, emotional highs/lows , steam, and a fabulous hea.
On paper Posey and Boone X shouldn’t work at all: let’s take a look
Disastrous past relationships (or imagined relationships) for both parties- check
To hurt to want a relationship any time soon – check
Coach and player – big check
One set of parents are Shea and Ellie Adler – ummmm check
Your coach is determined to make you a better player by torturing you in practice – check
The player you see so much potential in is being a stubborn pita- check
Shea and Ellie Adler are her parents!! – yes it needs repeating and another check.
And what blows all of that out of the water is the amazing connection and chemistry they can’t ignore.
I enjoyed every minute of this book and didn’t want to put it down. It’s definitely worth a one click.
The second book in the Nashville Assassins: Next Generation reels you in from start to finish. I love the original Nashville Assassins series and the next generation does not disappoint. Posey Adler thought she knew what love was. She was ready to follow it, but a stark reminder forces her to come back home. A home where she is trying to find her way out of her sister’s shadow. Luckily for her she has a very supportive family and she is ready to face her next challenge and love take a back seat. Her focus as the new assistant special teams coach is on the power play and nothing can change that. I knew that any character Toni would create would have to match Posey as her equal. Enter Nashville Assassin Boon Hoenes. He loves being on the power play to help his team win. After his own failed relationship his focus is on his team and ultimately winning. Posey wants to help Boon enhance his game on the ice while Boon has some off ice activities of his own. Sure Posey and Boon are friends, but are they willing to see what else could develop? Will Posey’s father Shea Adler approve? Will his angina flare up when he thinks about his daughters dating life? Posey has high expectation of how should love should be after seeing how her parents are. With a side cast of hysterical teammates (Wes and Aiden), comical Adler boys, and some favorites from previous books, this combination made for a great read. Posey and Boon aren’t without their angst and heartbreak but when you meet the one you are meant to be with, love is the ultimate goal. Will Posey let Boon into her life and heart? When life throws you for a curve, how you handle the situation tells a lot about your character. Toni Aleo does a fantastic job of balancing the storyline and creates such realistic characters that are easily relatable. You can’t help but be drawn into this story. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
From page one Power Play takes your heart and leaves you craving more. The story of Shea and Elli Adlers second born Posey is a timeless trip through the rocky and often hilarious ups and down of every new relationship. Add in hot shot Boon Hoenes and you find yourself rooting for this couple at Posey’s first blow of the whistle. Toni Aleo not only delivers a beautiful happily ever after she also tackles Posey’s struggles with self image and confidence in a way that connects you to the heart of this hockey coach on the rise! Coming to the end of Power Play left me hoping we’ll see more of Posey and Boon in the future!
With every book Toni writes the more I love her characters. I don’t usually read sports romance books, but Toni Aleo’s books will always be the exception.
Loved Power Play, Posey and Boon’s story gave me some of the same vibes as Ellie and Shea’s story. And omg did I ever love it!
Boon is damn swoon worthy! And Posey is so fiercely independent.
I never want the Assassin series to end…… EVER!
Each and every time I read a Toni Aleo story I fall in love and I’ll never get tired of it!!
Another Assassins hit!!!
I’ve been waiting for Posey. I really felt before I even read this book that I would connect with Posey and I was super duper right!
Being the second daughter of Shea and Elli Adler, and living in what seems like the shadow of her older sister Shelli has never been an easy task for Posey Adler. Never feeling as beautiful, as talented, as loved. Of course running after what she felt was love and ending up heartbroken didn’t help the situation, but coming back home to her parents house and being offered the coaching job for the Assassins Special teams? Maybe this would be exactly what she needed to finally get out of her sisters shadow. She knows hockey, isn’t afraid to tell anyone even a huge hockey player exactly what they need to do especially on the ice.
Enter Boon Hoenes, Assassins hockey player, recently going through his own heart break, and living the hockey dream. Which includes his beloved Power play. In walks Posey who decides he’s whats not helping the power play and quickly takes him off of it.
Boon takes the news hard, but also falls head over heals for Posey.
This book takes us on a story of love, learning to trust, and realization that you are perfect just the way you are 🙂
I’ve been waiting not so very patiently for this story because I just knew it was going to be another amazing book from Toni Aleo and of course I was not disappointed! I cried a little at the sweet and sad parts, but mostly I laughed and had to fan myself because not only is this book so funny, it is also really hot!
Posey is still figuring herself out in the beginning of this book, but I knew from the get go that she was a strong woman and I couldn’t wait to see her blossom. Also, I kind of want to be her because how cool is it that she is a coach for a NHL team?! While I’m certain Posey would’ve eventually come into her own all on her own, having someone like Boon help her to see the best of herself certainly didn’t hurt.
I love Boon so much I really don’t even know where to start. I love a guy who isn’t the typical player (even though as a hot NHL player you would certainly expect it) and also knows what he wants. He’s been hurt in the past and is actually a little insecure about himself, which is kind of a nice side to see, but he is secure in his love for Posey.
One of my favorite things about Toni’s books is that she addresses issues that I have never seen in any other book. I won’t spoil anything, but I know that there are women out there who will appreciate bing able to relate to some issues in this story.
What I love most about this book is that you really see two people help make each other into the best versions of themselves, and that’s what being in a relationship is all about. Watching them grow together made me want to better person myself!
