Posey Adler is coming home. After a devastating journey for what she mistakenly thought was true love, she is saying to hell with men and love forever. As the Nashville Assassins’s new assistant coach for special teams, Posey is ready to focus on her job and have the attention on her for a change. She’s been haunted by her place in her sister’s shadow, but this is her chance to shine and force … her family to take notice. But in order to make a name for herself, she’s going to have to go toe-to-toe with her team’s leading power play scorer.
Boon Hoenes lives for special teams. The power play is his favorite thing about the game. He loves having that advantage over his opponent. And most of the time, it’s his quick thinking that sends the puck to the back of the goal when he’s on the ice. Off the ice, however, no amount of quick thinking prepared his heart for being dumped by his college sweetheart. Boon has sworn off women, but when Posey Adler comes onto his ice—and kicks him off his beloved power play—he decides she’s one woman he doesn’t want to swear off.
They’ve both been hurt, but instead of going in for the penalty kill, Boon is ready to convince Posey their hearts are the secret to how they’ll win.
How they’ll score the ultimate goal.
A forever kind of love.

I was not surprised that this was going to be another hit! I just loved Power Play. Posey is the second daughter of my favorite Nashville Assassins Elli and Shea Adler. It seems like they always talked about the oldest daughter Shelli. I like this phrase that Posey says about her sister “basically, everyone is convinced she farts glitter and shits rainbows”. Posey thinks no one wants her, but that is far from truth. I think she is just like her Mother, strong, has determination, and knows that she wants a job in the hockey world. Boon is one of the Nashville Assassins who just found out his fiancée was cheating on him, so he is not looking for love right now. After coming back home, Posey takes a job with the Assassins where she is one of the coaches to Boon. Things get hot when they clash! I think they are my second favorite couple to Elli and Shea. When Boon and Posey are together they light up the book. This is in a series, but it’s worth reading Shelli’s book for Posey introduction.

I loved and enjoyed this book so much! Boon is The Guy. He’s charming, lovely, romantic and honest. His love for Posey is what we all wish for. Posey has the best name story and I love how she analyzes everything.
They love each other in the best way, they are happy and they grow always. Love them!
Audible review
Throw everything you think you know about Posey Adler out the window when you pick up Power Play.
Her story was everything and more I could have ever asked for.
Now, I will admit that I need an organisational chart keep up with who is whom in this series, but after a bit I get my head around who everyone belongs too.
Posey and Boon are just goals. Their journey from friends to so much more is relatable. I am sure most of us have had to deal with one or more of the things that they deal with during the tale. I love how they dealt with things.
It was great to see some of the Assassins Pt 1 throughout. Though I have to say, Posey’s dad Shea I went from laughing at him to rolling my eyes. He really was acting like a 4 year old throwing a tantrum a lo of the time.
Now the narration. I really enjoyed Tanya Eby’s portrayal of Posey. She drew me right into Posey’s life. She was fun and fliratious and all the emotion shone through.
However, Stephen Dexter, whilst wonderful as the other characters in the story, was quote monotonal to me a Boon. It was like he was narrating a a quite stalker story, nice and quiet waiting for a big BAM surprise However, this could just be me, and it didn’t make me want to stop listening at all, and wouldn’t stop me from listening to him again.
It was great to get back into Assassin-land, and look forward to more of the next generation.
Usually love Toni Aleo and hockey romance but struggled to get into this one which is sad because I absolutely love her parents!
Nashville Assassins, Next Generation: Power Play
5 Power Play Stars
Posey and Boon had me from the very first chapter. Power Play is the second book in Toni Aleo’s Nashville Assassins: Next Generation Series. Her Assassins series is one of my favourite hockey series so the next generation was a must read for me.
Posey Rose Adler is the daughter of legendary Shea Adler and owner of Assassins hockey team Elli Adler. She has just ran off to open her heart to someone and they in turn have crushed it. She returns home to parents who are disappointed in her and she wants to prove them wrong. She takes a job as a special teams assistant with the Assassins, this is where she will shine and finally enabling her to step out from behind her sister’s shadow.
“In case you haven’t realized by now, I happen to think you are absolutely stunning. So strong, so confident, and so gorgeous.”
Boon Zachariah Hoenes is winger for the Assassins. He is hardworking, loyal and sweet. He had his heart crushed by his ex fiance who had been having an affair for the last 6 months of their relationship. He feels he will never trust or love anyone again. That is until Posey skates on to the ice and knocks him for six.
“Sometimes two people fall in love after having their hearts broken, but together, as a team, they can build a foundation of love that will be indestructible.”
The chemistry and attraction between these two was powerful they have you hooked until the last page. Power Play is funny, emotional and such a hot story that you wont be able to put it down and will just want to know what happens next. It has the most amazing secondary characters some we’ve heard from before and some are new but all make this story incredible.
I highly recommend picking this book up. You wont regret it. I’m very excited to see what comes next in this series.

Passion and Persistence Pay Off
This is a heartwarming story. Posey and Boon are magic together. The heat and humor in their interactions felt genuine. The way they were crushing on each other gave me butterflies. Ms. Aleo brought the emotion and passion in this book. Power Play drew me in with Posey’s vulnerability. Once Posey and Boon are on the same page, the story truly takes flight. It wrapped me up in the ease of connection. Their adoration and support of one another was a thing of beauty. This story gave me all the feels: anticipation, hope, anguish, and joy!
Toni Aleo books continue to amaze me with realistic characters, plenty of romance, strong female characters, and hot, hot, hot, male characters! I’ve read ALL her books several times over!
Can’t get enough of the Assasins team and their families! After reading the books for all the parents, I am definitely way more invested in the books for the next generation than most. This book follows Posey and Boon, and how they are recovering from their past failed relationships through each other. After a disaster of an attempt of putting herself out there, Posey has returned home with her tail between her legs and has assumed a position with the Assasins and starting her professional career. Still jaded from his fiancé’s betrayal, Boon is very anti-woman until he meets Posey and can’t explain the feelings he has for her. As they continue to get to know each other and then start a secret relationship, this book really focuses on the growth between this couple in their relationship, with some surprises along the way. I loved that this author gave us a character that has real-life struggles and issues regarding self-esteem and confidence, because it definitely hit home. I can’t wait for the next installment and next generation!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Power Play is the second title in the Nashville Assassins: Next Generation featuring Shea and Ellie Adler’s younger daughter Posey and Assassin winger Boon Hoenes.
I adored the connection and chemistry this pair share, but it was their individual personalities that shone through and kept me completely captivated.
Posey Adler is driven, dedicated, headstrong and determined to prove her abilities and worth. Her vulnerabilities, and insecurities only made her all the more relatable and likeable.
Boon Hoenes is hard working, sweet and a little headstrong. Posey brings out his competitive nature and he’s determined to prove his skills.
The sparks fly between this pair from their very first meeting, and I loved that although they had both been burned in the past they gave each other a chance.
Although this story focuses on the second generation of Assassins, plenty of characters from the original series make cameo appearances and we get an update on their lives.
Overall Power Play is a sports romance that is a fun and engaging title packed full of heat, heart, and humor and I will be eagerly awaiting the next release in the series.

Power Play was the second book in the Nashville Assassins Next Generation series by Toni Aleo. Although it was part of a series, it could easily be read as a stand-alone.
Posey Adler was the second daughter to Elli and Shae Adler, Taking Shots, book one of the original series. She was always in the shadow of her older more confident sister, Shelly (Dump and Chase, Next Generation, book one), but not a shrinking violet. She was gorgeous in her own way, born and raised by NHL Hockey greats, was strong, independent, and insanely skilled for developing strategic hockey power plays. She was the new assistant power play coach and determined to make their power play great.
Boon Hoenes was a winger for the NHL Nashville Assassins. He was skilled, part of one of the strongest lines in the NHL, loved hockey, was on the power play and was loyal to his friends and family.
Both Posey and Boon had their hearts broken and had sworn off relationships. They were focused solely on their careers. However, their careers collided and their chemistry was off the charts. They were both passionate and it was fun following their bantering, and push and pull. At times, it was slow with their head games, but once they got on the same page, it was enjoyable and entertaining.
I totally loved both characters and they were perfect for each other. There were a couple conflicts that I would have liked fleshed out a little more, but that was minor. I loved how Aleo built their relationship, included an abundance of realistic hockey scenes and involved some of our favorite characters from previous and other series. The plot was solid and had depth and dimension.
All in all, it was well written, well developed, fun, entertaining, endearing, humorous and a great addition to the series. Hopefully Wes is up next, but regardless, I’m all in and can’t wait!
Oh wow! What a book!! Loved it!!
I have to admit at the beginning Posey just annoyed me for some reason but as you get further into the story and learn more about her she’s very likeable and you find yourself relating to her.
Boon is not your typical cocky hockey player, he’s damn sweet and loving with a side of confidence.
The 2 of them together are adorable and so easy to read and fall in love with. If you haven’t got your copy yet, go now!
*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review*
Power Play is the 2nd book in the Assassin’s Hockey Next Generations Series. Posey Adler is the younger sister to Shelli Adler and the daughter of Shea and Elli Adler. She has always lived under the shadow of her older sister. Thinking that she is in love to go to Colorado to confess her love to the billet (hockey player) that lived with her family. Coming back home heartbroken she takes an assistant coaching job with her family’s hockey team working with special teams.
Boon Hoenes lives for special teams. The power play is his favorite. Posey being his coach and riding him is something he can’t accept of course falling for her is another complication.
I would love to give you a spoiler about how this turns out but that would take out all the fun of reading the book yourself.
There’s not enough words to describe what this story made me feel, I cried for a good hour after I finished it, I’ve always felt exactly the way the heroine feels in this story, the fact that the author used Someone you loved by Lewis Capaldi broke my soul, man that song works perfectly with the story, so grab your tissues and read this wonderful story.
Power Play has to be one of my favorite Assassins reads. It was a beautiful love story and I couldn’t put it down.
Posey and Boon’s story was just gorgeous, it was full of funny little moments, emotion and love. If you are a reader of this series you will understand why Boon is perfect, if not you will swoon with how loving he is. I really got caught up in this book and not ashamed to admit that happy tears were shed.
Personally I loved Posey’s character, she was perfect. A strong woman who knows what she wants.
Could be read as a standalone but all the better when you are familiar with the other characters.
Another hit by Toni Aleo!!!! I enjoyed reading about Posey’s and Boon’s relationship. I also enjoyed how throughout the story we got to see Posey grow as a person. She started out thinking she wasn’t as good as her sister when in reality she was awesome in her own way. Posey and Boon were made for each other. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good romance story.
Loving this next generation series from one of my favorite sports romance authors!
I adore the Adlers so Poseys story was a must read for me. If you love hockey too…you’ll love this entire series!
Power Play is the second half of a duet, it also features Boon Hoenes! I really lived his character.
This book is filled with heart, hurt, feels, heat…is basically has everything I love reading in a romance! Loved Poseys strong character and profession! I adored Boons soft side.
A must read if you love the Assassins like I do
Posey and Boon’s story was so great. I love when people just seem to fit together. I love the way their confidence builds together. I loved how Boon makes Posey the center of everything. I look forward to more books in this series.
Power Play
Toni took two broken hearts and bruised spirits and gave us one hell of a ride with these crazy, fun, and passionate characters. Beautifully written showing the passion that Toni has for this series the stories just get better with every book. Her praise for Elli and Shea was a little over the top for me but understanding the way she loves these two I forgive her.
Posey is used to being in her sister’s shadow when it comes to guys and getting your heart broken just just adds to her broken and bruised heart and ego. The doubt that is embedded in her about her appeal to the opposite sex makes her blind to to their advances. As she moves forward in her life she just wants to concentrate on her new job. When Boon makes a play on and off the ice can Posey see past her fear and trust issues and find true love.
Boon has been betrayed by his ex and does not want to be involved in a relationship right now. When the new assistant coach is introduced he tries to ignore his attraction to Posey and concentrate on his game. Sparks and tempers fly when Posey makes a decision that Boon does not like.
When family, jealousy, and a health issues become obstacles can they survive?
Posey is my spirit animal. Lol
She’s a fighter and a confident woman! I loved everything about this story. It was great how the author set up the characters and the story. It flowed really well and I could not put it down once I started.
I felt for Boon at the beginning and the chemistry between him and Posey was so spicy. As always I love getting to see the rest of the Assasins family.
Highly recommended!
Another author that I’m glad that I found, especially her hockey series. Each book gets better and better. I loved Posey and Boon! I’m glad that they found each other and were able to get over their hang ups (mostly) and gave their relationship a chance. I liked how they second guessed each other and their motives, just like we all do. They showed each other by their actions of the love they shared but were also able to have disagreements without diminishing their love. Poor Shea, what can I say? It’s a good thing that he doesn’t have anymore daughters! There were tears and laughs, what more could you ask for in a book?
