This awesome, hilarious, incredible book started out as a free read to Jewel E. Ann’s newsletter subscribers and ended up being one of my top reads from her — and I’ve read every single book she’s written (sometimes more than once, twice!) I thoroughly enjoyed Jake & Avery’s journey from month to month, but reading it in its entirety was so thoroughly enjoyable and emotionally fulfilling in every aspect! She nailed the rom-com genre with this one — laugh out loud, hysterical moments interlaced with heartwarming and sexy moments — I don’t know how she does it, but her books just keep getting better and better! 5+ star read!
This story is hilarious, laugh out loud, slide splitting, laugh till you cry, tears running down your cheek or leg, embarrassing funny!
Naked Love is a stand-alone with familiar characters that came from Jewel’s previous books. Jake from Holding You and Releasing You. Avery from Undeniably You, she is Sydney’s needier little sister who finds herself in all kinds of situations. Also, from Jewel’s monthly newsletter, so if you’re not signed up for it, what are you waiting for?
Avery Lynn Montgomery seems to always fall for the ones with lots of money but little less to recommend themselves. Case in point, Anthony Crooked Dick Bianchi, cheating, monkey-spanking dick cheese, who does really like chocolate or is it just chocolate mousse with some jizz mixed in! Anyway, after finding out what a cheating lying bastard Tony turned out to be she needs someone to help her through this mess. Since Sydney’s away and she has her dog Swarley it’s time to go see her dad. Road trip!
Jake Matthews is a broody, cocky, damaged unground fighter who co-owned Sage Leaf Cafe with Adler Sage Brecken, (Addy) that was until Quinten Cohen. Also, the nephew of Galvin & Deedy. This is just so complicated.
Highly recommend reading Jewel E. Ann, her sense of humor, her twisting of plots, co-mingling of characters, unique style of writing always gives her stories more depth, more ump, just more! Love this woman.
Humor, banter, realizations, transformation, growth, all in epically Jewel E Ann fashion! I absolutely loved Jake and Avery’s journey! I wasn’t sure how I felt about Avery at first but then realized how much I understood what she was truly hiding inside herself and what Jake came to see. Oh, and Swarley! He added so much to this story in more ways than one. I loved this story!
My first Jewel E. Ann novel was Undeniably You; it made me a die-hard fan, and the book remains one of my favorites to this day. The author’s latest novel, Naked Love, is a follow on to that book. It features Avery Montgomery, who is the sister of the main character in Undeniably You.
Avery’s story couldn’t be more different than that of her sister. Avery is a white-hot mess from the start of this book! She is the quintessential girlie-girl who loves her spa treatments and pretty shoes. She works hard at keeping up her looks, and while it might seem that it is all about catching a sugar daddy, it is a lot about her feelings of inadequacy. It is easy to dislike her shallowness, but deep down, Avery is a fragile wreck with whom I fell in love.
Author Jewel E. Ann creates fantastically flawed characters, and both her heroine, Avery, and hero, Jake Matthews, have issues. I loved the intricately woven story where Avery and Jake’s lives intersect at multiple points on the timeline of their lives. It’s nothing short of comedic genius (and bad luck for Avery).
A second chance at love for dad, leads Avery on the road trip from hell. It leaves her without extensions, makeup, and most of her possessions. In the end, will it leave her with what she truly needs and wants? Her road trip with Jake is not just a journey to Los Angeles. It is also a journey of self-discovery. These two very different characters have the great chemistry and fantastic banter. I appreciated how Jake’s pushing leads Avery to letting her light shine.
Naked love is full of laugh-out-loud moments as well as a few tear your heart-to-pieces moments, and that rocky journey is wonderful.
#LifeIsAboutTheJourney
Naked love exposes the vulnerabilities and insecurities layered underneath a strong fake exterior. She swore off men. He swore off high maintenance girls. Together they are a hot mess of sexual tension, sexual innuendos, and sexual chemistry. They were on the road to nowhere.
When a diva and a vegan chef share a car ride together they get more than they bargained for. It started with hateful words, snarky comments, and feisty remarks. All in all Jake stripped the diva of her crown.
This was a hate/love rom-com between strangers. This is a standalone book that was introduced in monthly newsletters. I read every newsletter upon release. Every month I participated and shared my opinions in the Facebook group. We tried to help Jewel write this book, but she is the accomplished writer with the wit to write her own material. It was fun offering suggestions.
The t-shirts were the funniest most inappropriate form of entertainment. One of the scenes that happened with a t-shirt was hilarious. Jewel has a devious and clever mind.
Naked Love originated as a monthly newsletter story, culminating in the final publication of it as a novel. Every month, Jewel E. Ann offered a few chapters, encouraging readers to offer insight into the story. Needless to say, this reader tuned in every month to read more of this story.
This book is a rom-com with everything that is right about rom-coms: funny dialogue, comical situations, an “off-the-charts” chemistry between the H/h, and moments of angst that add a depth to the comedy. This story tenderly offers the message that we all need to be accepted and loved for those parts of us that make us special. It is a message that is timeless.
This is a story of opposites attracting. Jake is the co-owner of a vegan cafe chain. He is everything granola and natural. He lives his life organically, forgoing the materialism of society. Avery is a “princess.” She loves shopping, name brands, make-up, hair, and everything that glitters. They meet and, due to various circumstances, road trip from Milwaukee to California where Avery lives and Jake has a cafe. From the start, the fireworks start. They are so very different. Yet, in their differences, they begin to change each other. It’s these moments of the story that make this story special.
I found myself laughing uproariously at Avery and Jake’s verbal sparring matches and revenge tales to crying tears for the fundamental changes spurred by deep hurts in each of the characters. It’s the ability of this book to mine to the depths of all of the reader’s emotions that makes it engaging. Jewel E. Ann takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions whether it is detesting Avery’s vanity or Jake’s judgmental perspective to empathizing in the hurts of both to laughing aloud at the funny moments of the two.
In the end, acceptance is necessary. Loving someone no matter their foibles is necessary. As Jake tells Avery at the end of Naked Love, “…our love is…flawed and perfect…[…] It’s honest and open. It’s naked, Ave…our love is a naked love.” In a world where everyone seems invested in themselves, finding a little “naked love” is necessary.
Overall:
5+ MESMERIZING STARS!! OMG….Another mesmerizing story from this phenomenal author. I absolutely loved Jake and Avery’s beautiful, funny and heart touching story. As alway Jewel E. Ann words hold you captive from beginning to the last word. You definitely need this book on your TBR list or better yet read it now.
5/5 STARS

I knew this whole road trip with a very peculiar troop would be a very enjoyable RomCom, that I would laugh so hard, but this is Jewel E. Ann we’re talking about, ladies….
Soooo… You have to know this would be so, so much more than fun and sexy moments.
If you’re familiar with her previous books, you’ll get glimpses of others characters (I LOVED this aspect of the book!!!), lots of fun, but you’ll also get heartbreaking moments.
Because Jewel is evil like that, she loves to mess with our poor little hearts. She just can’t help it!!!
Avery and Jake have their own background, and with each personal past come its own bad decisions, tragedies, hurt and demons, that made them what they are today.
So we’ll get to know the real Ave, and the real Jake too, their insecurities, their flaws, the heart they protect under layers and layers of different kinds of make up…
I love this: experiencing all kinds of emotions, depth, even in a RomCom.
And this book had me glued to my Kindle for two days, my husband eying me while I laughed like a hysterical hyena one moment… to the whole “trembling chin” Me the next… But don’t worry, he got used to it a long time ago.
This book was perfect like that, from the beginning to the end. Nobody is perfect inside nor outside in this story, but there is true love, the naked love. And it was beautiful to read!
So much more than a RomCom, another Best Read from this author!!!

Jake – the brooding and angry vegan chef from Milwaukee, and Avery – the Diva Princess from LA, along with a pooch named Swarley, take us on a fun road trip filled with angst, frustration, and some really heartwarming and emotional moments. Even though I loved Avery’s sass and wit, I thought she came off as whiney, materialistic and entitled and I couldn’t connect with her and her selfish attitude. With the help of Jake, Avery was able to redeem herself. We witnessed her transformation into the strong and independent woman that was hiding behind all the expensive labels, hair and makeup. Once she realized all the unnecessary and added layers didn’t make her who she was, her true colors came out and she was able to shine. Jake….loved him, but he did his best to get under her skin and did a good job of acting like an angry egotistical jerk. At the same time he had an intense protective side and was able to find a soft spot for Avery in his hardened and closed off heart. I loved how Jake supported Avery’s new found confidence even if it meant it knocked him back several steps.
Attagirl, Ave.
Stand the f… up for yourself.
Show me whatcha got.
Loved getting a glimpse of Sydney and Lautner’s beautiful family and reconnecting with other characters from the past. Naked Love was a heartwarming story of family, love, loss, forgiveness and finding your true self worth. Sweet and touching epilogue. (less)

4.5 stars! Loved it!
Naked Love has laughs, tears, angst, family, and more.
Jake and Avery DO NOT start out on the right foot. Avery is done with men, as her relationship track record is in the toilet and Jake sizes up the kind of woman Avery is the minute she enters his cafe…high maintenance, diva. When Jake becomes Avery’s only way to make it back to LA with her sister’s dog (Swarley) you know this will be a road trip like no other.
In the beginning I thought both of them were a little childish in their behavior but it quickly became obvious Jake was a stinker, lol, he really got a rise out of teasing Avery and whether it was to see what she was made of or just for giggles in that “I’m teasing/torturing you because I like you” school way little boys do, it made the trip an adventure for Avery. Avery can give as good as she gets because she may seem only concerned about materialistic things but the girl is smart. I think the “things” were covering for the emotions she’s been avoiding feeling since the death of her mom.
“Jake Matthews just knocked on the window to my soul and whispered, “I see you.” Not the million imperfections I see in the mirror.”
When things get heavy, the author goes full out war on your heart and just doesn’t let up, which is fine by me, bring the angst, Jewel, bring it! Challenge accepted! But with heartbreak comes self reflection and sometimes it’s just the knockdown we need to pick ourselves back up and truly find our self worth.
“Funny, I just wanted to be the smile on his face. The object of his affection. I wanted to be the part of his life that felt utterly undefinable yet completely impossible to love without.”
I loved the characters and as much as I loved sexy, tatted, sarcastic, inappropriate t-shirt wearing, Vegan chef Jake, it was Avery that was the star of the book for me. As much of a diva as she was, I kind of feel like we all have a little Avery in us at one time or another. It was wonderful to reconnect with Sydney and Lautner as well, like saying hello to old friends, and “The Deedy” was a great addition to the book. This author is one of my favorites and it’s because her books are character driven with these fantastic characters…reading her work is just enjoyable and pleasing to my soul.
“Our love is…flawed but perfect.’ His tongue drags along my top lip. ‘It’s honest and open. It’s naked, Ave…our love is a naked love.”
This book! All the feels! Get ready for the literal ride of your life! Avery needs a lift after her car dies back to L.A. from Milwaukee. Jake, her new enemy, is her ride. It is a journey of discovery filled with funny moments, rude awakenings, and naked love. And knock me over, but Avery is Sydney’s sister from Undeniably You fame! Have to love a glimpse of Lautner, aka Pool Boy, now Dr. Lautner who married Sydney. Grab this book! You will be glad you did! 5 stars
Some of these characters will be familiar to veteran fans of Jewel E. Ann, but the book can definitely be read as a standalone.
Jake and Avery are fun, charismatic and the reader will have no problem finding an easy chemistry with them. The story line glides effortlessly through the trials, tribulations, and humor of a long-distance road trip between two people who seem to have absolutely nothing in common. But somewhere between Milwaukee and L.A. the tables turn and the two of them learn something significant from one another. Something that changes everything. Don’t miss their journey. Great read. 5 stars!!
This story was about more than just a road trip. It was a journey of self discovery.
Avery’s life has just imploded! No job, no money, no boyfriend…all gone. So what’s a girl to do but rush back home to your family to lick your wounds. Only thing is, that impulsive decision brings her another problem because the home she knew has changed too.
Now she’s stuck in Milwaukee because her car crapped out too and needs to get back home to LA. This is where the hunky Jake comes in. As a favor, Jake agrees to drive Avery home to LA since it conincides with his annual camping roadtrip!
Two strangers, a dog and thousands of miles together in a pick up truck. He’s a handsome chef, who specializes in vegan cuisine. He enjoys the simple life and no complications. Avery is high maintenance, a tad dramatic, a bit impulsive which leads to many laugh out loud moments. What could possibly go wrong?
They are the unlikeliest of matches, but sometimes the person you least expect helps you become the person you were meant to be.
This story brought both laughter and a few tears. It was honest and raw at times. It brought both levity and emotion to difficult situations. Avery and Jake had great banter and chemistry. I enjoyed their journey and I especially loved witnessing Avery becoming the best version of herself. The best combination of laughter, tears and a Happily Ever After.
5 STARTS IS NOT ENOUGH! OMG THIS IS THE BEST!! Every book I read from Jewel E. Ann just keeps getting better and better.
You will love Jake but he also will infuriate you. Because there will come points were he will have the opportunity to thrive and be the best ever but he will come short. And that is completely OK because that man is more than swoon worthy. He is amazing! And he doesn’t just fix things, he makes them 10 times better. I love starting the book in a frame of mind and having the author change it with the characters actions. I started hating Avery’s diva attitude but then the book turned on me and I felt offended on her behave. She becomes her own independent woman and it is beautiful to read that transformation. A lot of it thanks to Jake.
Secondary characters are amazing at adding to the story and at helping them on their journey. You will also love how Jake and Avery learn and in that process your emotions will hit highs and lows just like theirs. You will laugh, will also cry a little, will feel proud and even a little disappointed. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!! Makes me want to go on a camping trip with Jake. That man will make your heart beat out of your chest. And Avery will be the biggest surprise of all. This is exceptional writing.
Rip-roaringly hilarious, emotionally rich and snaughlingly crazy, this book has jewel’s trademark, razor-sharp humour totally unleashed. She holds no snappy banter back. Let’s her brain run away with concocting as many giggle worthy scenarios as she can muster.
I ended up laughing every time I read it in her newsletter, which btw you ALL should subscribe to.Her blog is my guilty pleasure…
Back to the book. Avery has been cheated on by “Anthony Crooked Dick Bianchi” with the cook of all people!!! And the asshole loves chocolate…..i can’t even
She is cut out of her Diva Lifestyle and has to run home to Dad
all men are lying, cheating, monkey spanking, dick cheese
Daddy-O is getting married…….. To Deedy!
Young , nubile, nymph with a heart of gold (but we hate that cause we’re #TeamAvery) and that makes Avery sick
I cover my mouth to stop the mini vomit coming out. my dad is engaged to be married to a girl young enough to be his daughter and they’re ready to make a porno right in the entryway
She ends up being on a forced road trip to California to her sister Sydney’s house with Swarley the Weimarner monster and sexy vegan Chef Jake.
The trip is straight outta hell for Ave. It’s full of life threatening disasters like camping, puking, tummy runs, sickness, nail chipping, root showings, tearing hair extensions, and pride swallowing
Her polished, plastic facade gets stripped by the mile and the girl who reaches Cali is not the girl who started in Illinois.
Eye opening trip changes both Jake and Avery and Sydney and Swarley too.
The character growth of Avery is remarkable, she just emerges as pure, honest person and what started as laughing at her on my part, turned into crying for her by the time she reaches Cali. Hiding inside the artificial demeanour is a very beautiful honest conscientious human being and she just wins me over
If I Lie, we’ll never be real.and I don’t want the lies. I want Love. Real. Honest. Soul-consuming. Naked Love
Throughout the book,I’ve laughed so hard that a leeeetle pee may have leaked….ok,multiple times
I may have scared some of my gym friends by snaughling so hard, they thought I was choking, but again she makes us go “awwwwwwww” and then “dammit, why jewel, why??!!”
Tears of joy and heartbreak all in the same book makes it a very entertaining and addictive read.
Once you start, be prepared to ignore your friends, your family, chores, bath, food, rain, grocery, laundry, the world in general and nothing short of apocalypse will get your nose pried out of the book
Go buy and LOL, LMAO, ROFL, ROTFLMAO
