In Naked, David Sedaris’s message alternately rendered in Fakespeare, Italian, Spanish, and pidgin Greek is the same: pay attention to me. Whether he’s taking to the road with a thieving quadriplegic, sorting out the fancy from the extra-fancy in a bleak fruit-packing factory, or celebrating Christmas in the company of a recently paroled prostitute, this collection of memoirs creates a wickedly … wickedly incisive portrait of an all-too-familiar world. It takes Sedaris from his humiliating bout with obsessive behavior in A Plague of Tics to the title story, where he is finally forced to face his naked self in the mirrored sunglasses of a lunatic. At this soulful and moving moment, he picks potato chip crumbs from his pubic hair and wonders what it all means.
This remarkable journey into his own life follows a path of self-effacement and a lifelong search for identity, leaving him both under suspicion and overdressed.

I have never and I mean NEVER laughed SO HARD while reading a book! OMG…the tears were rolling down my face!! Don’t pass this one up—it is pure delight!!
As ever, David Sedaris proves why he is one of Americas treasures. I love this book and recommend to anyone looking for a good intelligent read.
David Sedaris at his best!!
I kept my husband up giggling in bed

Naked by David Sedaris may be short but don’t let that fool you. This little book was HILARIOUS, and I absolutely adored the audio which is read by both David and his sister Amy.
I really can’t believe how many things Sedaris has been through and everything that happens in his life. Naked talked about his mother getting cancer, but also his teachers/OCD and an incredibly entertaining foray into a nudist colony, along with many other topics. I love learning more about him in all these books I have been listening to, plus Amy’s impressions in this one are solid gold and something you don’t want to miss!
Unfortunately, I realized I listened to an abridged version so I’m not sure how much I missed, but hopefully not too much. This is the fourth book by Sedaris I have listened to in just a few short weeks, and since I am jumping out of order I’m not learning about his life in a linear fashion but that’s ok. Naked might be my favorite of his yet, and I highly recommend the audio!
Final Thought: Have I mentioned how much I love David Sedaris? I can’t add much more to this review other than it is a MUST LISTEN. Plus it comes in at just over 3 hours so it’s such a quick listen. SO go out and get Naked and see how much you like it!
One of the funniest books I have ever read. I always read in bed just before calling it a day. My husband actually came upstairs to see what was “wrong,” I was laughing that hard.

Have loved David Sedaris since Holidays on Ice came out
This is a collection of stories and memoirs of the author. It talks about overcoming his OCD, about being gay, his father being so overprotective that David never learns to drive, and how he and his siblings deal with the death of his mother from cancer, to his time spent in a nudist colony.
This book was okay. The reviews talk about it being “side splitting funny”, but I would not agree. I have read a few of his books, and have always found him a bit…..odd. Most of these stories in this books are so out there, I did have a hard time believing all of them. But there were a few that gave me a little chuckle. I mostly found him frustrating – he has so many tics with OCD, how did he not get help? And he hitchhiked everywhere and put himself in so many dangerous situations, that it surprises me that he never learned to drive.
If you are a David Sedaris fan, maybe you will find something about this book to like. Me? I just thought it was okay.
This is the funniest book I’ve read. David Sedaris sees the humor in daily life. His references to his grandmother are totally relatable if you have grandparent raised in a European culure. I can honestly say, I laughed out loud while reading this book. I love all of his work, but this one is my favorite.
