My new neighbor is a total tool
He hated me from the second he laid eyes on me, and I don’t have the first clue why… But, if he wants to hate me, I’m happy to give him a few reasons: mowing the lawn at dawn on the weekend, leaving garbage cans in front of his driveway, renting a petting zoo for my backyard…making a list of ways to drive him crazy is half the fun.
He deserves it with the way … fun.
He deserves it with the way he’s driving me crazy right back without even trying— walking around without a shirt on, sweaty rippling muscles on full display, well-worn denim jeans perfectly molded to his…well, you get the idea.
My point is, if he wants a war, I’ll give him one.
***Nailed is an enemies to lovers, neighbors who can’t stand each other, omg the anger banging, drool worthy, low angst story, which happens to be the second in my Four Bears Construction Series. It CAN be read as a stand alone. There are NO shifters in this series, only the OTHER kind of bears.

I really enjoyed this book. Dare is grumpy and he hates his new neighbour Stone basically on sight as he judges him and thinks he’s a homophobic a*sehole. So Stone being Stone decides to become the worst neighbour possible as he may as well be hated for something. Dare has major anger management issues. Stone is hilarious especially with the ways he comes up with how to annoy Dare the most. I love how much he likes Dare’s dog Rudy as Rudy makes Stone’s house his own and Stone just lets him hang. Dare doesn’t like that Stone constantly steals his dog even though Rudy comes into his house of his own free will. Their arguing all comes to a boiling point when Dare leaves a note on Stone’s door regarding his dog and to not feed him so Stone decides to finally confront him about why he hates him so much. I love the addition of Dare’s nephew West and I’m looking forward to reading his story later on in the series.
Man, West’s dad (Dare’s brother) Paul is a complete homophobic a*sehole and treats his son like sh*t. He totally deserved the punch in the face that Dare gave him. Wow, the s*xual tension and chemistry between Dare and Stone was completely off the charts, especially when they were arguing with each other. I loved how Stone installed a butterfly feeder in Dare’s yard as he knows how much butterflies mean to him, plus the goats from the petting zoo that he hired to annoy Dare when they were fighting ate the plants from his garden that attract butterflies but it’s still really cute. I love how much Stone messed up expressions. Like that he’s between a c*ck and a hard place, instead of a rock and a hard place. I hopefully he doesn’t ever change. I’m looking forward to reading Everett’s story next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Nailed is a funny and lighthearted, enemies-to-lovers romance novel between a confident construction worker and his grumpy neighbor.
I’ll try to do this review as quickly as possible.
Yes, it took me 17 days to finish this book and it was not a bad book, I just started reading other books and forgot about this one. But I must say that this book was not as good as the first one.
Things I liked:
– Great amount of segg scenes.
– the switch of pov throughout the chapters
– the humor
– the chemistry and dynamic between Stone and Dare.
– Amazing side characters
– Mature? MCs in their 40s
– Dare’s dog
Things I didn’t like:
– The misunderstanding
– the “enemies-to-lovers” was not well handled.
– the use of butter as lube… ewww
– Stone was irritating
– Everything after Dare’s dog accident… too fast-paced for my liking.
– the “I love you” confession
This series is one of KM Neuhold’s best! The guys of Four Bears are adorable.
This book 2 trapped me in the middle of practical jokes and an hilarious neighborhood war. A wonderful and very entertaining reading!
Okay, this book was hilarious!! Several times I found myself almost to the point of tears I was laughing so hard. Nailed was a bit unexpected to me because book one, Caulky was a fun read but didn’t really have any kind of pull with me in any way. Dare and Stone had this hate to love relationship which is always a plus for me, but this did feel a bit quick. One minute they were all “I can’t stand you” the next they were all over one another. I really enjoyed both characters even if Dare was a bit prickly and Stone’s Mom was a hoot! Super fun read that will give you all the feels.
Another amazing KM Neuhold Book! Dare & Stone were perfect together. Absolutely loved hearing Tim Paige be angsty & grumpy. And Liam DeCosimo was perfect as Stone.
5 Stars for book, 5 Stars for audio. Narrated Tim Paige and Liam DiComoso
Fantastic narration with duel narrators. A first time with these narrators and love them. Beautifully voiced with all characters.
Fantastic start.. and they had me laughing.. poor Dare.. Dare definitely doesn’t like his neighbour..especially early in the mornings. Stone 23 yrs likes nothing like teasing to Mr Grouchy Pants ..lol. Stone really needs to help Dare lighten up from all his seriousness. A story where match making dog brings them together.. Yah Rudy.. Too and froing with their friendship romance with the hot sexy barebacking and kitchen scenes. All the gang of the construction crew placing their bets. okay poor Ollie doesn’t have the best luck at relationships jumping in fast. A fantastic ending to the book that’s perfect for these guys.
Dare 45 owns the motorcycles shop and still single.
Stone 23 works at the construction company..
This story was so much fun to read- I laughed so hard! When your new neighbor doesn’t seem to like you for no reason – Stone decides to give him one and OMG, it’s a riot!
Dare is an amazing but grumpy neighbor and the only thing he wants is quiet- he gets Stone instead!
Hilarious!
Oh my heart! Both Stone and Dare had all these insecurities that they hid behind with humor (Stone) and grumpiness (Dare). These two men could do nothing but fall in love with each other. I was honestly going to skip this one in the series because enemies to lovers is not my favorite but thank goodness I didn’t because I loved this book so much! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
7 Stars — 5 Stars just aren’t enough!
I’m new to this author. I’m so glad that I am no longer a stranger! I am now a die-hard fan! NAILED is a sp book.
The storyline is excellent, solid in every way. The characters are written about in vivid details so superb that they come alive on the pages. I was hooked from page one and sorry when I got to the end. These were the kind of characters that you wouldn’t mind having a beer with for real.
This book has everything from angst, to steam, to laughter, and sweetness galore! Topped off with an HEA. Can’t ask for more than that in a great read.
Adoration!
I’m in love with Four Bears Construction! In this second book of the series, goofball Stone is pranking his grumpy next-door neighbor, Dare, and it’s so funny! When the misunderstanding is cleared up, they can’t seem to stay away from each other despite neither really knowing how a real relationship works. But Rudy the floppy-eared dog brings them together time and again in the most adorable way! I loved this book!
I am really enjoying this delightful, fun, and sexy series. This one is an enemies-to-lovers trope between two new neighbors. Stone and Dare definitely get off the wrong foot, and Stone keeps torturing poor Dare for months until it all comes out. It’s a bit over the top, and definitely riles up Dare who is already a prickly, guarded, and moody loner. Stone is a prankster and loves to taunt him and push him out of his comfort zone. Eventually between some hot hate f—ing and testing of the waters, they find out that they actually kind of like each other.
I like that this series is about forty something-year-olds with flaws, fears, and a hidden need to find companionship as well as passion. These are big, tough, alpha guys, but they are also lonely, especially Dare who really had no friends other than his dog. Their feisty banter serves as foreplay and they are also volatile together! But it is also heartwarming to see the glimmer of hope start building that they might not have to continue to be alone.
I enjoyed the camaraderie and humor with the Four Bears and how they pulled Dare into the fold. I loved Rudy the dog and how he helped bring these two together. He was truly the third amigo. I also liked the addition of Dare’s twenty-something nephew, West, and hopefully he will eventually get his own story. I cannot wait for Ev’s book, Hardwood to come out this week and definitely am excited for Ollie’s book!
4.5 stars! Enemies to lovers, hilarious! I loved the first one a half star more but totes rec this book!
Here’s the gist my review in one line: This book is freaking fantastic and you NEED to read or listen to it. “Nailed” is the second book in K.M. Neuhold’s “Four Bears Construction” series. It can be read as a standalone, but the characters crossover so you may want to read the first book, “Caulky”, before this.
“Nailed” centers around Stone, one of the owners of Four Bear Construction, and Dare, the owner of a motorcycle repair shop. Grumpy, growly Dare has hated funny, ornery Stone since Stone moved in next door. Stone, not knowing why Dare hates him, has made it his mission to be the worst neighbor possible. Thanks to Dare’s adorable dog (Rudy, who totally steals the show throughout the book), the two end up interacting a bit more, and confrontations turn into the steamiest funny/angry sex scenes ever (filthy butter sex. ‘Nuff said.) And of course, hate progresses to love, and you get your HEA.
The characters are hilarious and real, and their love story progressed nicely with no angst. This book made me literally laugh out SO many times! The dialogue was sharp, the side characters added to the story without taking over (with the exception of the adorable dogs. And the underwear eating goat.) The narrators did a terrific job. The pacing was just right, and both got into their characters well, there was never a point where I felt they were reading a book to me. The only thing I didn’t care for was the way Stone’s narrator did his vocals for Dare’s dialogue. Dare was described multiple times as having a husky, growly voice, and that’s what he did, but it made my throat hurt in sympathy. But that being said, it wasn’t bad enough to dock any stars or stop listening (I’ve definitely heard worse.) I would definitely listen to these two narrators again. I love all of K.M. Neuhold’s works, and can’t wait for Ev and Ollie’s stories!
Side note, I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author, but was not asked to provide a review in return. I just liked it so much I had to give my feedback anyway!
I love this author! Her characters are believably flawed, with some of the same insecurities we all have. They’re funny & lovable. Stone was funny yet sweet, & Dare was so closed off at first, but finally losened up. The love scenes were steamy! Love reading about two men falling for each other!
Hands down one of the best books I have read in a while.
Going in I wasn’t sure how the mix of enemies-to-lovers, neighbour bears was gonna work, but 5 pgs in , I was as hooked as the bully goat was on to Dare’s underwear * pauses to laugh at the visual playing in my mind for what must be the 582th time *
Yup. I can tell ya that through most of the read, you can be seen with a huge grin on your face or laughing out loud like an hyena ( in my case). Love the hilarious dialouge and chemistry the MCs shared.
It was perfect and HOT ( damnn, I can never look at butter in the same way again and hear the phrase ‘rough around the edges’ without Stone’s retort coming to mind *proceeds to cackle again*).
The fav part of the story was Dare’s character development and how he
blossomed under Stone’s TLC.
And Rudy-the-broseph and Nard dog ( best ever).
Loved the supporting cast too.
Overall, the author ‘nailed’ it.
Looking forward to more in the series.
Risk it all
What an amazing book! I wonder if I could train goats when they encounter hot guys? Talk about an unforgettable memory but everything really is better with butter. My stomach hurt from laughing so much. Stone stole a pice if my heart but Dare is the one who walked away with my heart. “[B]eing annoyed by you the rest of my life is better than being without you.” Dare may be extremely grumpy and prickly but he’s also caring, kind and in need of cuddles and someone to teach him it’s ok to be loved. I will say that he knows how to make a statement. I adore the way Stone shows he cares. His sweet gestures and yes, especially his silly jokes make me laugh and feel mushy. Parts of this book had me sniffling. A truly wonderful heartwarming story of finding love and family in the unlikeliest of ways.
I really enjoyed this book. Kyleen nailed the enemies to lovers trope, especially since it’s done in a humorous way. The main characters have some seriously hot chemistry and know exactly how to push each other’s buttons. I laughed out loud at so many different parts and with a lot of the dialogue. And the dog is super duper adorable! There are a few more glimpses at the main characters for the next books and I’m eager for their stories. I highly recommend this entire series!
Also: this book cover rocks. It’s made my list of favorite book covers.
Stone’s mucked up sayings made this book for me! I giggled every time I read one. He was a bit of a pain in the start but hos pranks were funny. Super glad he and Dare ended with a HEA. But the characters that stole the book were Rudy and Nards…love pets in a story.
This is a neighbours/enemies to friends /lovers trope.
This book was perfect if you’re in the mood for a hot, sweet and funny as hell read. It was on par with the first book in the series, which I enjoyed immensely too. Stone and Dare had me in stitches, they really were true enemies to lovers and Stone certainly was the master at poking the bear! Their sexy times were off the charts and I’ll never look at a tub of Lurpak the same way again. There’s such a great supporting cast too in Rudy, the cute matchmaking pooch and the guys at Four Bears and their good-natured teasing and ribbing that comes borne out of love and great friendship. This story had all the ingredients for a cracking read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
