From award-winning author Tara Wyatt comes a sexy contemporary standalone romance set during a steamy Boston summer. If smartass carpenter Adam Hennessey hadn’t stood up Charlie Grant over a year ago, he might not find himself on the other side of a slammed door. But when Adam volunteers to repair Charlie’s deck as a favor to a friend, that’s exactly where he finds himself. Does he regret standing … regret standing her up? Yes. Does he find the cynical, sarcastic sports journalist unbearably sexy? Also yes. Does she hate his guts? All the yes.
Charlie’s not the forgiving type, especially after a broken heart in the past has left her jaded, but she can’t deny that Adam, with his beard, tattoos and panty-melting smile (oh, and muscles–can’t forget to mention the muscles) might just be winning her over. With a second chance on the line, Charlie will have to decide if getting nailed by the smoking hot carpenter is worth the risk.

Story when to lonely souls having to deal with their past baggage of being hurt by their past relationships. Instead of getting hurt, they try to make things casual.
Adam Hennessey & cocky, good looking carpenter has to fix his friend Jared’s dragon lady neighbor’s damage that he caused. Adam owes Jared a favor for allowing him to stay with him while going thru his divorce over a year ago. Jared also a smartass volunteers his carpenter buddy Adam.
Adam is furious but he does owe Jared for room & board during his time of need when he was going thru his separation & painful divorce. So he will go fix the drive thru yard he did free of labor.
OMG~ Adam goes to Jared’s neighbor to get started on the work for the repairs. To come face to face with Charlie Grant sweet, kind, easy to chat w/ that he met on a dating site. They build up a friendship over a year ago on a dating site. They had been chatting for several months when they decided they should finally meet. Unfortunately, his baggage, fear from being recently divorced had him chicken out. He left Charlie stranded, with no explanation, no response & deactivate his dating profile & ghosted her. What a jerk but most of all a coward.
Charlie – What are the odd… You cannot be serious! What the hell are you doing here is what she yells out to Adam! “SLAM!” That jerk! Never a word, explanation, just ghosted me . IT felt like being abandon all over again from her fiancé. The app was support ot help her get back to the single life. When Charlie went on the dating app. She didn’t expect much. But then she met Adam online & they were able to open up, chat casually, laugh… Charlie needed that after her fiancé decided to tell leave her for another woman the day before their wedding. He tells her that he isn’t in love with her. he has met a woman who is confident, sophisticated & can cook. Carlie should learn to have those traits. IT nearly broke her.
Both characters are wounded from previous relationships. They are afraid of being abandoned, hurt & not meeting each others needs. So instead they run. Adam ran a year ago when he was to meet his online gorgeous, friend that he had been talking to for quite a few months.
Charlie ran, after he ended up being her accidently contractor from repairs that needed to be done from her crazy neighbor. Who happens to be Adam’s buddy.
Adam wants to apology for his behavior a year ago. Fixing her yard damage & maybe adding a deck could be the 1st step to forgiveness. Everything he saw of the feisty, sassy, gorgeous, freckled woman was just making him want her.
Well the more time she sees him working in her yard, the more chemistry between the two of them. One thing leads to another & they ended up getting together. Neither one will admit they are falling for each other. To afraid of running away from a commitment but can stay if it’s casual sex???
They both agreed it was just sex. they didn’t like each. Truth be told that wasn’t the case at all. It crept up on both of them, but Adam didn’t want to scare Charlie away after finding out what that jerk of a Ex did to her.
When Charlie asks the hot, sexy, sex buddy to go to her cousin’s wedding. Things change, he admits to her that he does like her. He could already tell during the entire time of the wedding, she was pulling away, going thru the emotions. They normal fun loving banter was tense, awkward. He wanted to show how much she meant to him. They danced & again it got Charlie carried away & wanted Adam right then and there. NOW!. What she didn’t want was the relationship attachments. so when he admitted he liked her & that he had not thought this was casual sex. She bolted She did what he did over year go to her. She ran & broke his heart.
All he did was care, support & be there for her. What did she do but get scared & ran the moment she thought it would end up being a commitment. Which she knowns could end up her being abandon again, once Adam realizes he is tired of her.
Not likely but, he wasn’t going to push, call, he just put himself into work. Charlie called Adam a couple of times but couldn’t get the courage to speak. Just cry & he had to tell her he couldn’t play theses games.
Charlie goes on a big sport journal Assignment regarding her piece about the SOX’s for a week. This was her dream assignment & she should be thrilled. Instead she is miserable, She realizes she needs Adam in her life. But she cannot get him to talk to her. She now needs to rely on the Jerk neighbor & asks for his ticket to the game. That i the only way she will get to face Adam & admit to her feelings. .
Can Charlie convince Adam that she is serious about her feelings for him. She LIKES him too. Can he forgive her for breaking his heart.
Can they cough up their stupid fears & mistakes & work together thru their relationship.
Read to find out.
The main reason this got a 3-star rating is because of its length, or lack thereof. This story moves at lightning speed. Even though it’s short, it’s sweet, has great characters, and a lot of sass. It’s brain candy and stress relief rolled into a neat little package.
I love how witty the banter is between Charlie and Adam. They are a match in the book, both adde scared abd have been through heartbreak in different forms but similar. They both were scared and afraid in different times of their relationship. But understanding and love for the future with each other prevailed.

SEcond chance for Adam. Adam got a little scared when he was supposed to go out with Charlie on a date and he stupidly stood her up, not he is supposed to help his friend Jared by helping him fix the deck that Jared messed up but when Charlie sees him she did what I would have done slammed the door in his face..The book was cute my only issue it was too short..Enjoy!

Adam’s friend plows into his neighbors yard taking out the fence and her deck. He calls Adam to help bail him out of trouble by getting him to agree to fix it for free for him. Charlie is stunned when she opens her door to see Adam the man she talked to online about intimate things and made plans to meet however he stood her up. He didn’t even answer her messages. He thought he friend was joking about her throwing things at him until he was on the receiving end. Before she started he saw the hurt in her eyes so he knew he needed to fix things between them. Can Adam explain why he didn’t meet with her? Will Charlie give him another chance?
This is hilarious and will draw you into their antics from the get go. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I really enjoyed this book. Not only were the characters easy to relate to, there is a lesson in this: don’t be so quick to judge someone, because you might find yourself in exactly those same shoes at some point. Did our hero do wrong? Yes. Did the heroine forgive and forget? No. But does this have a beautiful Happily Ever After? All the yesses!!
A Great, Entertaining Read
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. “Nailed” is a really enjoyable, entertaining book from Tara Wyatt. This book has an interesting, well written storyline. The engaging chemistry and interaction between the characters kept me engrossed on their story from the first chapter. This is an enjoyable, entertaining, well written story and a must read.
Can it only ever just be sex?
Nailed is the first book that I have read by Tara Wyatt so I was not sure what to expect. But the description looked like it could be a lot of fun and it was as a short story so I figured I would give it a try. I am happy that I did read this cute romance between Adam and Charlie.
Charlie, a young woman, lives in the Boston area and is a sports writer for the local paper. A year ago her fiance left her the day before the wedding because he was in love with someone who can do the “womanly stuff” that she can’t. Can we all say Chauvinist together please!!!
Adam owns a building company and was divorced a year ago after they were together for 10 years, 4 married.
Charlie and Adam first have a “relationship” through an online dating site. They spend time messaging each other and really enjoying themselves. One night Adam asks to meet and Charlie says yes. When the time comes Charlie shows up but Adam does not. He then ghosts her and finally deletes his profile. Can we all say JERK really loud please!!!
Anyway, they end up meeting in person finally six months later because Jared, Adam’s best friend and Charlie’s next door neighbor, drives his jeep through her fence and takes out her back porch. Jared of course asks Adam to fix it and so the story begins. They both have trust issues and must learn to open up to each other, but can they?

This was a really good book. I would definitely recommend it and would read more from this author.
Charlie and Adam have both had a rocky romantic history. Both are a bit wary. And it does not help that he stood her up in the past for a date. I love second chance stories and this was a cute, quick read that did not disappoint. Adam after avoiding her is sent by a friend to fix her patio. Can he fix their chances at something?

Very good romance
Very good romance, very well written, in which the characters hurt by their past relationship have to face their fear in a new one.
Adam must repair the damage that his friend Jared did at the fence of his neighbor Charlie. He discovers that she’s the young woman to whom he stood her up 6 months ago, out of fear, after his divorce. However, a few months before, Charlie had been abandoned the day before her marriage with her former fiancé and Adam was the first man with whom she was going to try to go out and she isn’t ready rude to forgive him this outrage.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This the first that I have read a book by this author and I will give her another try but I was disappointed in the book. After reading the blurb I was looking forward to a funny and entertaining story. The story wasn’t bad but it was just ok. I liked the characters but I didn’t love them. I don’t have anything negative to say as well I don’t have anything fantastic to say either.

This is an entertaining and endearing second chance romance that is fast pace and consistent. It is an engaging page turner that is emotionally deep with drama, witty banter, humour, and hotness! The characters are likeable and well developed; the chemistry between them is off the charts! Definitely recommended.

He stood her up, now he has to fix her deck.
Adam Hennessy stood Charlie Grant up six months ago after weeks of online flirting and completely ghosted on her.
After his friend demolished her fence and deck, he finally has to face up with ditching her.
I liked that Charlie demanded respect and didn’t make it easy on Adam (who wanted to hook up after his divorce and not do serious).
I liked Charlie who had just gotten out of a bad relationship. She is who she is, Red Sox reporter and holds men accountable.

This is the first book by this Author that I have read and I will be reading more of her books. A well written story that kept me turning pages. I enjoyed reading Adam Hennessey and Charlie Grant’s story. This is a short quick story to read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a quick short read but is still hot enough to melt your kindle I am hoping it is the start of a new series about blue collar boys and the women that tame them
Adam Hennessey and Charlie Grant have history he stood her up after meeting her on a dating sight in fact he was total jerk maybe it was too soon after his divorce and his head wasn’t on the right way because he isn’t normally such a jerk. Then a friend calls in a favour and he is asked to repair a desk only problem it is in Charlies home The attraction between them is still hot but she also hates him do they have any chance to become a couple be prepared for some great banter as these two dance around one another neither wanting to admit that they want each other
So this is my first tme reading this author and I felt it was well written. But I kinda hated the characters and the plot.
Charlie is kinda a jerk, Adam is kinda a good guy, sorta. Essentially they had an online relationship and he failed to show up for a date to meet and then he ghosted her, but they also live in the same town and don’t meet until Adams friend crashes and destroys her patio. Then he asks Adam to help him fix it. That is how they meet in person.
I really felt she was stuck up and kinda hard hearted and she took the meet that didnt happen a little too much to heart for just an online thing. Adam was just divorced when they get together online and I felt he was a huge jerk and coward in how he treated her. Though it was online, so I never would have taken that seriously either.
Beyond the charcaters I felt the author did a good job writing the story. I just did not like these two characters.

This was the first book of Ms. Wyatt’s that I have read and I really enjoyed it. It was a quick second chance romance that will leave you smiling when you are finished. Adam wronged Charlie in the past by standing her up for a date because he was scared and he was brought back into her life because of his friend, Jared. Charlie never wanted to see Adam again but because he was helping rebuild the deck that Jared destroyed by accident he was brought back in her life. The attraction between them was there but when it got to real, she got scared. It was a fun story and anyone who has picked this up, you won’t be disappointed.
