There was something scarier than flying: falling in love with Callum Callaghan. The confident playboy who never promised more than one night.Back in college he was my friend, and the boy who could’ve broken my heart, if I’d trusted him with it. Instead, I chose his best friend. The last time I saw him, he looked at the heart I held in my hands and walked away.It hadn’t been my heart. It had been … my heart.
It had been his.
A decade later, Callum and I are thrown together under the African sun. We’re here to save animals, but this could be a second chance with the boy whose heart I still hold.
But can I trust him with mine?
Mythical Creatures is part of the Callaghan Green series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Full of very steamy scenes that are hotter than the African sun, inappropriate family texts, a touch of angst and a second chance romance with a HEA and no cheating.

Annie never disappoints and this book was no exception! Loved it all…the banter, steam, humor and deep emotion. It is amazing!
“Nothing good comes from needing someone”, but everything good comes from loving someone. Mythical Creatures is more than just a book, it is an experience. It is sexy with a slow burn and so very sweet at the same time. You will laugh, cry, and swoon, and the push and pull will keep you needing more.
Callum is the dirty and sweet playboy who is wounded by his past. He fell in love with his best friend, Wren, and when she walked away, she shattered his heart. Now years later, they have to work together in the African Savannah where they realize that they are two lost souls that found their way again.
Its more than a love story, it’s about being brave enough to love, to forgive, and make peace with your past. Like all Callahan Green books, there are multiple sub plots around the entire family and by the end of the book, you will feel like you are related.
Callum and Wren are everything in this next installment of the Callaghan Green series. Both broken, lost, and looking for where they belong. Best friends who lost their way rekindle their friendship and find more. This has everything love, all the feels, off the charts chemistry, a journey within to find their forever. Fantastic read and wonderful addition to this brilliantly written series.
I was so thrilled to finally get Callum’s story, the elusive vet who had sort of popped into the other stories but hadn’t been a prominent fixture. I loved the way this story developed, all the twists and turns and adventures that finally led to the happily ever after he (and Wren) deserved. I loved that he found himself, found his happiness, and found the closure I felt had been haunting him throughout the other books – and had essentially kept him away from home for years. There were some unexpected characters that really gave this story depth and kept me on the edge until the very end. I’m so glad I was able to pick this book back up and finished it!
This was Callum and Wren’s story. In the first part of the book, the reader is aware that they have a history and hard feelings. Gradually the story unfolds through a series of flashbacks and present day narrative. The story is dual POV, and the setting of Africa especially was especially enchanting.
Callum is a lost, broken soul who is figuring out what he needs, deserves, and is capable of giving. Wren has her own issues and she has to decide if Callum is worth the risk. Their relationship builds tentatively and I really appreciated how they seemed to “get” each other. I loved the cameos from the other Callaghan family members and how Callum was building his relationship with each of them, especially his dad. There is plenty of steam and a lot of heart in this one.
Annie Dyer’s Mythical Creatures is entertaining and is packed with lots of laughs and of course passion. This is my favorite book from author Annie Dyer, she just creates these characters that you can’t help but fall for.
One of my favorite things about this story, has to be the family group chat between Callum and his family. Nothing is off limits with them, they talked about every and anything including the parents
Callum and Wren together had some intense moments. I enjoyed these two together. They both have things individually that makes you go hmm but together , you can’t help but root for them.
Overall this book was really good from beginning to end. You’ll laugh, you’ll really laugh and then you will definitely want more of these two
I love this world that been created for this family that I love reading about.
Callum’s book was excellent.
The description of their locations. The camps they stayed at and all the wonderful animals highlighted in the story.
I loved Callum and Wrens story. It was a great second chance.
Again as always the beloved Callaghan Green family is sprinkled throughout. Seph is a favorite and I’m anxiously awaiting his story. Mysteries surround him and I can’t wait to discover what they are!
I so loved Callum and Wren. Their story was well written and I fell in love with them. They me in college and she actually has a crush on his friend. She was with him for a long time but eventually that relationship ends. Callum and Wren miss a chance then to be together but years later find themselves together on a project after avoiding being together. Great second chance romance. Loved these two. You will not be disappointed this has all the feels.
Wow, where to begin? This book took my breath away. It is BY FAR my favorite book of Annie’s. She made the gut wrenching emotion and chemistry between Wren and Callum palpable. You could just feel the pain and emotion coming from the pages. I could not put this book down. I have been waiting for Callum’s book, and it did not disappoint! 5 stars. I look forward to more amazing books from Annie Dyer, but Mythical Creatures is definitely one that will stick with me for months to come.
Finally we get to learn more about the allusive Callum and what makes him tick and so gun shy about being home and boy what a story. His past with Wren is so delicate and heartfelt so as everything unfolds and you find out why they became estranged just guts you but also excites you as you know they have a second chance to see what they can have and not just for one night. This has to honestly be my all time fave book in this series and yes I say that with every book but ugh they are soo well written!!!
Finally the story of Callum and his mysterious love…Serendipity. It’s the friends to lovers story that most of us can relate to…you meet in college and relate to each other on so many levels, but still part and go your own way. The coming back together was sweet and spicy… the flashbacks of both of their memories was a great way to bring their past to the present.
HE came to her with the sweetest smile and told her that he wanted to talk for a while…and there they stayed trapped in Neverland…until Africa.
If you haven’t started the Callaghan series, go back and start at the beginning. This may be a stand-alone, but you don’t want that, you want to stand in the circle of all of the great cast of characters and then you will truly understand Callum and you’ll be hanging on for the next instalment.
Injured souls finding each other after decades apart, across various continents…the long-awaited Callaghan Green with vet Callum is definitely worth waiting for! The tender relationship between Wren & Callum tugs at your heart, and lots of Seph & family texts trigger much cackling! Reuniting with the Callaghan Greens is like coming home. So happy Wren found such a beautiful family, & I can’t wait for Seph’s book!
I loved going back to the Callaghan family & was so excited to read Callum’s story. He broke his family’s mold by going into veterinary medicine instead of law, and vet school is where he met Wren. They were friends but he was hoping to be more at one point but she was dating a fellow student who was also friends with Callum. After school both Callum & Wren went their separate ways. A decade after they graduated from vet school Callum & Wren both signed up to do a documentary and while they were together they were able to discuss the past after a time, since Wren didn’t want to talk about the past. They worked well together both on camera as well as off screen while they explored the different countries they filmed in together. There is so much more to this story than Callum & Wren falling in love, forgiveness is a huge part as well. Callum had to forgive his father as well and make peace with everything that happened in the past.
Some of my favorite parts were the Callaghan family texts as well as the interactions with Seph. I cannot wait for his book now. I also loved how close he was to his Step Mum Marie and how he related & talked to his siblings.
This book is part of the Callaghan Green series. This is Callum’s story. He is hot and kind and sweet. Wren is his friend from the time when they were in vet school. She is beautiful, passionate about the animals, also kind and sweet. They get to do work in Africa and are filmed for a TV show. It’s been 11 years since they’ve last seen each other, but they are able to regain their friendship and go through many situations to get their HEA. This book also brings back other characters from the family and we get an update on their lives. I can’t wait to read the bonus scenes for this book.
Annie Dyer brings us Callum and Serendipity. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed the chemistry between them. I love the strength and independence in both characters. Their beautiful love story has so much passion and was such an wonderful read. You will be consumed till the very end.
OMG… I have been waiting for Callum’s story and as always Annie Dyer didn’t disappoint! This story was everything I thought it would be. I love that Wren and Callum get a second chance at their love, and once again I love all the humor this book has! One could say that I’m in love with the Callaghan Green family. I can’t wait for the next book!
Callum!! I’ve been waiting for Callum’s book for forever or seems!! This is a fantastic book that sucks me in from the first page! I couldn’t get enough of Callum and Wren! Their relationship blossomed off the page! I needed to know what was going to happen next!! I am happy to add Callum to my harem!!
A beautiful friends to lovers romance between Callum and Wren. It’s is a great book with amazing characters and a beautiful storyline. I loved and recommend this book!
Annie Dyer is a new-to-me author, and this is a very good introduction to her books. Although this is not the first in the series, I had no issues reading it before the previous ones.
I thought the buildup in this second chance romance was well-paced because of their history. I’m not keen on instalove stuff that gets an about-face at the end of a story, or too much of a slow burn.
Callum is the perfect hero in my mind i.e. the damaged kind (yes, I unabashedly love them). Wren is a surprise, I thought I had her pegged then she delivered on different fronts. Callum’s family is strongly featured, I enjoyed reading their banter.
Am definitely going back to read the rest of the series.
I always love Annie Dyer books because they are so well written and the storylines are always intertwined.
This story about Callum was just so and I love how he interacts with his family. The past for him needs some answers and he has some commitment issues due this.
What’s so beautiful is how it all comes together in a story of learning, love, acceptance and a huge sense of family!
