The past several months have been exhausting for Mercy so her sister booked her for an extended stay at the Deerbourne Inn. Before she left, her sister circled a spot on the map and said it is supposedly mystical. When Mercy arrives, she not only finds her reservation is only for two weeks but she bumps into a handsome man and his dog. The owner of the inn secures a long-term option for Mercy on the same land supposedly magical. She uses her powers as a witch to investigate herself and runs into the owner. With her secret exposed, she confesses to being an elemental witch.
The last thing Sil expected to find on his land was a witch whose powers thrive in soil and a woman who stirs his soul. She may need his land to reenergize her magic but the more time he spends with her, the more she fills the lonely place in his heart. When the truth behind his heritage is revealed and they have to go back in time to right a wrong, will she leave or will he give her a reason to stay?
Mystic Maples blends two of my favorite things: paranormal romance and maple syrup. Both are soothing to my soul and both are sinfully delicious. Mercy and Sil have a lot of emotional barriers to overcome and it was such fun watching them fall in love. Descriptive narration made the story come alive, especially Mercy’s gardening scenes. Sil’s parents were quite funny as was the time travel.
My favorite scenes were between Mercy and Sil. Their attraction was immediate, yet it took time for them to get together. The small ways they showed their feelings for each other endeared me to them. They’ve now become my favorite couple Tena Stetler has created. I only wish there was more to read. Maybe a sequel? *hint, hint*
If you’re looking for a small-town romance between a witch and gypsy/fae under the noses of mere mortals, you’ve got to read Mystic Maples. Another great installment in the Deerbourne Inn series.
Favorite Character/Quote: “She raised her arms out from her sides and turned her face to the starlit sky letting the magic surge through her. It had been almost a year since magic of any kind called to her. It felt so good, she was lost in the moment.”
My Rating: 5 stars
I found this story to be a delight.
Mystic Maples is Tena Stetler’s contribution to the Deerbourne Inn series. I have not read anything by her in the past and I believe that will now change. I enjoyed this story. It is a quick read that I had no issue finishing in one sitting.
I am giving Mystic Maples four stars. I would love to read more by this author in the future, as well as, the other books in the Deerbourne Inn series.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
This was a very entertaining read. Attraction and magic bring Mercy and Silvanus together as they try to solve a past mystery. The secondary characters added more to the story, including Bertha and Hope.
I really enjoyed this story, and I recommend it.
I received a copy of this story through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Mystic Maples is a lovely romance with magic. I say it that way because the magic was a great enhancement to the story without being the main focus or being overwhelming. Sometimes the recipe is better with a little less of certain spices and I believe this author found the perfect balance.
There was also a great balance of internal and external conflict for both protagonists, Mercy and Sil. They worked through those conflicts satisfactorily with strength and encouragement from each other.
There were threads of touching romance, family humor, gleeful excitement, and scary suspense weaved into a strong fabric. All-in-all, it was a fast-moving, fun book.
I could have given it a perfect rating had some questions I had been addressed and some scenes been a little longer. However, there’s a great little surprise waiting after the end.
I liked this book, I’ve liked other books by this author, and I will continue to read her work without a doubt.
Another great installment in the Deerbourne Inn series. I enjoyed digging deeper into the mystical elements of Willow Springs: this town has an interesting background with ghosts and witches. I’m enjoying all the paranormal twists! In this book, we meet Mercy who is a modern day witch with unique ties to the land and flowers (a plus for me because I love flowers!), and she goes to Willow Springs to take a break, get away from some bad stuff life threw at her in Colorado. Sil is a local maple harvester in Willow Springs who has a tarnished family tree filled with treachery, witches, gypsies, and fae/faeries. He prefers to avoid, do his job, keep his head low and hope nobody bothers him about all that stuff from his family’s past. Toss in time travel, and it’s a sweet and sexy story of romance, family, and maple syrup (yum…all these books make me hungry!). This was my first read of Ms. Stetler’s and won’t be my last. If you enjoy small town romance, paranormal elements, and fun reads, this is a great book for you
Mystic Maples is a magical, mystical read with plenty of twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. The romance sizzles, and Tena Stetler’s imagination keeps you entertained. I read this book in a day – thoroughly enjoyed it – and recommend it without reservation!
Mystic Maples is the first book by Tena Stetler I have read, although it is part of a larger series, Deerbourne Inn, which involves other authors.
In this, Mercy takes a leave of absence from the shop she co-owns with her sister, after a dramatic few months. She ends up at Deerbourne Inn, but due to a mix-up, she is only there for two weeks, rather than the six months she had intended. Along comes Silvanus to save the day.
This was an easy read that didn’t really delve too deeply into any of the ‘paranormal’ elements. We know Mercy is a Earth/Fire witch, but mainly she grows plants. We know Silvanus is a gypsy/fae, but his gypsy side is stronger. There is a magical, time-travelling vardo that takes them back to right a wrong, but once again, this is skimmed over and done with before you can blink.
For myself, this was a lunch-break book – definitely good enough to whisk me away for an hour, but nothing that stays with me after. If you are looking for a light read, I can definitely recommend this one.

Mystic Maples may be my favorite book by Tena Stetler. I’ve always loved time travel—especially when the storyline presents a believable time slip—and this story does exactly that.
After a tumultuous few months, Mercy Rose flies to Deerbourne Inn to decompress. But instead of a quiet vacation, she finds herself mesmerized by a mysterious man.
Silvanus Forrest’s lures her in and her curious nature opens the door to an interesting plot twist. The land he inherited has an magical history. When Mercy hears locals swear the property is enchanted, her curiosity gets the best of her and she has to investigate. Thrust through time, she and Silvanus must right a wrong in the past to save the future.
Mystic Maples is a fun love story with a supernatural twist that helps the reader rediscover the importance of family and true love.

A well written story I was not putting down once I started reading. Silvanus Forrest is of gypsy/fae heritage he meets Earth/Fire witch Mercy Rose when she come to stay at Deerbourne Inn in Willow Springs, Vermont but there has been a mix-up so she stays at his cottage. This is a short fast read and I hope there is more books to come. There is suspense, drama, twists, turns, evil, a old wrong that needs to be righted, magic, gypsies, fae, witches, time travel, maple syrup and romance. I will be trying the two recipes in the back of the book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great book to the series. The author does a great job building the story and pulling you in with all the paranormal activity and twists along the way. The characters are strong and well developed and the scenes are described in vivid detail. Add in the small town romance and you have an entertaining story that had me hooked from start to finish. I enjoyed and would recommend this book.
