Never fall in love with a wounded hero… pick Marc. Or Fitz, as everyone else calls him.
He’s tall, handsome, healthy – apart from his injured back – hardworking, kind, and loyal.
I’d be happy if my child were to grow up like him.
So I ask him if he’d agree to be a sperm donor for me.
To my disappointment, he says no.
He does say he’ll be happy to get me pregnant the old-fashioned way.
According to him, extended foreplay increases the man’s productivity.
I think he just wants to get me into bed, but I’m willing to give it a try.
Do I go ahead with it?
There aren’t any drawbacks to having a quick fling, surely?

Poppy wants a baby but no husband. Marc wants Poppy. How is this going to work?
Oh how I adore this author and series! She can take a reader into their happy place with her well written and steamy books after difficult long days. My Wounded Billionaire is Poppy and Fitz’s turn at love, it’s full of heartache, romance, beautiful background and that tear filled ending that you welcome with this unlikely couple. Loved every page of this book, well worth the read and a great addition to the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Poppy wants a baby to love …
Poppy King wants a baby to love but she doesn’t want a relationship. She is planning on visiting a fertility clinic to be impregnated. But she makes the accident of telling Marc Fitzpatrick aka Fritz her plans. Although she does want Marc to be her baby’s father.
Marc Fitzpatrick has always felt something for Poppy King but due to a variety of reasons, he has held back. The biggest reason is that he understands she is on the autism spectrum and struggles with understanding people and reading social clues. But to him, this isn’t an issue. He knows he has to approach a relationship with her differently.
When Marc hears Poppy wish to have a baby, he takes the chance and makes her the offer that he will be willing to help her. But the caveat is that he wants to do it the old fashioned way and he is willing to keep “practicing” until she is finally pregnant. Poppy is very hesitant to take Marc up on his offer. In all of her relationships to date, she has never enjoyed having sex with her partner. This she thinks is a direct correlation to being on the spectrum.
Marc needs to go to Hawkins Bay to check up on the new Ark location and decides to ask Poppy to come along with him. And to turn it into a week long vacation. Poppy is hesitant but she finally agrees to go with Marc. With only one week to show Poppy how wonderful they can be together and to help her fulfill her mission, Marc pulls out all of the stops to make things work.
Marc has been waiting for Poppy for what seems like forever. Can they make this last forever?
Ms. Woods is a fantastic character writer and it shows in all of her books. But in this one, she has outdone herself.
I did receive a copy of this book in advance from the author in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
5 stars
A worthy addition to a heartfelt and steamy series
Serenity Woods has written another wonderful, lovable couple. They are so good together. I love how they talk and really get to know one another in between the smoking hot love scenes. Yes, the story setup is a little crazy, but I love it. The warm characters and the beautiful New Zealand setting make it a joy to read. These two good, wounded people are so sweet together.
Poppy’s family have tons of money, but they all act like regular people who work at their own charitable animal rescue, veterinary, and petting zoo facility. She had been burned by her previous relationship where the guy said cruel things and did not show her love. Poppy is on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum, like her father. She has trouble reading people’s expressions and body language. Poppy is a sweet, thoughtful person. She has only had a few losers for boyfriends in her life, and she thinks that it is impossible that any man could give his woman an orgasm every time they have sex. Well, Marc intends to prove her wrong after she suddenly asks him to donate sperm.
Marc has been wanting to date Poppy since he first met her over a year ago when she came to work at her family’s business. Marc is a good, regular guy who is the property manager at the animal rescue facility. (He is the brother of the heroine of the first book in the series.) Marc previously had been seriously injured in a plane crash in the army, and his back bothers him a bit. He convinces Poppy to get pregnant the old-fashioned way while he tries to get Poppy interested in having a relationship with him.
Like the rest of this “Billionaire Kings” series, it is written in present tense, first perspective that alternates between the two primary characters. I like this choice; the writing flows and feels natural. The multiple love scenes are beautifully intimate and still hot as a suana. This author is extremely good at writing love scenes. You could read this series out of order, but you get more out of it by reading in order. So far, I think that this is my second favorite in this series after Book #4, “My Lonely Billionaire”. I recommend this book to everyone who loves steamy contemporary romance with nice characters.
I received a free advanced reading copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
Excellent story in this series. It is a standalone with an HEA. Loved visiting the King family again. Good characters and storyline. I love all the King series that I have read.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Another hit by Ms. Woods!
If you’ve read any of the Kings books, you won’t want to miss this one. … but if you haven’t read any of them, you can start with this one, even though it’s book 5. The author has written this as a stand alone with familiar friends from previous books. This one is a terrific story, filled with familiar characters, but written so well that you’ll feel that you’re taking a walk down main street of your home town.
Ms. Woods has written a story that goes beyond an “inch deep” romance. This one has family dynamics, both challenging and loving, smoking romance, and characters who come into their own and overcome personal challenges they are battling.
Marc is just the type of male main character I like. Honest and singularly focused on Poppy. He’s got a sister who is his best friend and family challenges that take him to his knees.
Poppy is overcoming a bad romance that has caused her to lose confidence in herself. She’s convinced that her path forward is a solo one, in the romance department.
This story is how Poppy and Marc come together to heal and seek one of the best gifts in life.
Download this book now! you’ll be super happy you did.
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
“My Wounded Billionaire” by Serenity Woods was different from the others in the series since the billionaire is … a woman! But the wounded part kind of applied to both of the protagonists. This was a really sweet story of two lost souls coming together for an unconventional purpose. I didn’t find Poppy to be as challenged as Albie (her brother) when it came to reading people and reading social cues. They talked about it, but it didn’t really show up in the course of the story much. Also, Fitz/Marc was not so grumpy as people had seen and experienced with him in the past. So this story showed readers a different side to both of them from what we’ve seen in other books or from what has been relayed to us by other characters. It was a very romantic story and I really liked the glimpses of their inner worlds and the sexy and caring relationship they are building. I read an ARC of this story and this is my voluntary review.
I loved Poppy and Fitz on so many levels. Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes. I felt that there was quite a connection between them, especially when Fitz figures out a way to be with Poppy to help her give her what she wants. A baby! The trick is getting Poppy to realize that she wants him too, as more than a “sperm donor”. There were a lot of sexy times! I mean SEXY. Very sexy.
There were a few times that I could relate to Poppy, making her an enjoyable character for me. I loved the appearance of her dad, Charlie. I always enjoy seeing the previous or next generations in family series.
Just when I think that this series can’t get any better, it does! The Billionaire Kings Book 5, My Wounded Billionaire by Serenity Woods is one amazing read. The latest King to find her happy-ever-after is one I had been looking forward to reading. While nearly all of the Kings make an appearance one time or another in the story, it is still an excellent stand-alone.
Marc “Fitz” and Poppy have both been hurt in the past Now they still haven’t completely recovered from those situations. It is evident that they have a better chance doing so together which is how Marc understands it but Poppy is resistant. Still she has a dream with which he can help. The struggles that these two friends face are one that are realistic in today’s world. The author handles them with truth and compassion.
I always love the vivid descriptions which take me back to my visit to New Zealand a couple of years ago. It is like a visit back there but this time to visit characters who have become dear to me. Then the emotional pull between Marc and Poppy is so convincing that it makes the passionate ones even more so. Simply an outstanding romance read.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sexy, Sensitive and Tender.
Poppy has given up on relationships but not on having a baby, the only problem is that the man she wants for a sperm donor wants her to conceive the old-fashioned way. Loved this story and how Poppy and Marc were able to heal each other’s wounds. Highly recommended.

My Wounded Billionaire by Serenity Woods
The Billionaire Kings #5
What fun this book was! Both Poppy and Fitz have been hurt by previous partners and though Fitz is interested in Poppy she is NOT interested in a relationship now…or ever. Poppy does want a child of her own, though, and believes Fitz will be the perfect specimen to provide the sperm she needs to create the child in question. When his idea of “the old fashioned way” rather than IVF is suggested he has a long list of reasons why it is a better idea than a clinic would be.
The discussions Poppy and Fitz have are absolutely wonderful! Poppy is never sure if what Marc, the name she calls Fitz, are true or a false sense of his own abilities in the bedroom. The two are quiet but both realize that sharing and conversation will make things less awkward…or something.
Their time in Hawke’s Bay was so much fun to watch like a fly on the wall. I have to say that I loved this couple and was thrilled by how it all worked out for the two of them by the end of the story. Still have a smile on my face now thinking about some of the encounters they had 🙂
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Serenity Woods is on a roll. I don’t know how she puts out books that are so consistently good, one after another. I start reading and am immediately pulled into the story, the place, the people.
Marc and Poppy’s story is full of “s” words. It is sweet, sensitive, seductive, and sensual. It is also truly romantic. They are such a great couple with an awesome connection, so supportive of each other. I loved the way Marc romanced Poppy.
Poppy and Marc each have painful past relationships to overcome. The characters are well written. You feel their sadness, their pain, and ultimately, their joy. The way their relationship evolves takes you on an emotional journey.
Once again, we get to revisit at least one of the Three Kings, and several of the Billionaire Kings. There is also that sense of love, loyalty, friendship, and support that appears in every book.
This can be read as a standalone, but I think it will be more enjoyable if you read the first Billionaire Kings book (My Best Friend, the Billionaire) at least. Or even if you read the Three Kings series. Sometimes I really have to think about how everyone is connected. Maybe the author will have to start putting a family tree somewhere in each book. That would be awesome!
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received from the author.
I was so excited to be back with the Kings and this book was everything I expected and more !!
Poppy King is not your usual heroine she finds socialising difficult because like her father and brother she is also on the autism spectrum, she always says exactly what she is thinking and for me this made her all the more loveable. When she decides it’s time for motherhood she confides in her fellow worker Marc and even goes as far as asking him would he consider being a sperm donor.
Marc has always been attracted to Poppy but she completely blindsided him with her wishes so after a lot of toing and froing he convinces Poppy to try with him the old fashioned way…..
What follows are a lot of doubts and miscommunications but what’s meant to be always seems to find a way in the end…..
I love how this author is not afraid to give us characters and situations other may shy away from, she gives us stories as well as characters we can relate to. If you are looking for a sweet romance with a HEA look no further than My Wounded Billionaire because I highly recommend it.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Serenity Woods has done it again! She has written a wonderful love story about real, flawed characters. Poppy, who is on the autism spectrum, and Marc who was wounded in the military, have both had their share of relationship disappointments. While Poppy has sworn off relationships, Marc has his hope set on starting one with her. When Poppy decides she wants to have a baby on her own, she asks Marc to help her. He takes this opportunity to try to show Poppy how great they can be together.
As always, Serenity’s writing pulled me in from the very first page. Her descriptions of New Zealand, make me want to plan a vacation there.
Although, this book can definitely be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series. It was great to catch up with all of the characters, from the earlier novels.
I received a free ARC of this book, however, my opinions are strictly my own.
5 Star Review of My Wounded Billionaire (The Billionaire Kings #5) by Serenity Woods
Having read the previous books in the series, I was excited for Poppy King and Marc “Fitz” Fitzgerald’s story.
With her biological clock ticking Poppy decides the time is right to have a baby, someone who she can love and be loved by unconditionally.
Poppy is not your usual heroine, like her father and brother she is on the autism spectrum and finds social situations difficult and hard to express herself properly. I love that Serenity Woods is not afraid to give us non typical characters, she writes about people who you could know and it is her “honesty “ with the characters and their flaws that really add another layer to her stories.
Having been badly hurt by her ex boyfriend, she has no intention of getting involved in a relationship again. When she decides that she wants the donor to be someone she knows, she asks Marc, a fellow co worker at the Ark if he would be interested in helping her achieve her goal.
Marc, having been attracted to Poppy struggles with the decision but eventually agrees as long as they do it the “old fashioned” way.
After a great deal of miss communication and doubts, Poppy and Marc finally connect. My Wounded Billionaire is a sweet, romantic and at times spicy story that will bring a smile to your face and have you cheering for Poppy and Marc to get the happily ever after they both deserve.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The Billionaire Kings series books are so full of heart and romance, and My Wounded Billionaire is a great new edition to the series. The setting for the series is an animal rescue center in New Zealand called The Ark, and the theme of animal rescue gives a wonderful backdrop for the romantic stories. Poppy is in charge of the petting zoo part of The Ark where she teaches children to take care of and respect animals. She has had a series of dismal relationships and a poor experience with intimacy. It doesn’t help that she has problems with communications and reading emotions that runs in her family. She decides that she would rather have a baby out of wedlock and skip the relationship part. When she approaches Fitz, the estate manager at The Ark, as a potential paid sperm donor, he prefers the “old fashioned” way to get pregnant, and a potential chance to get closer to Poppy. What follows is a steamy story with Fitz’s efforts to show Poppy that sex can be good for women (WOW), lots of ghosts of past relationships, and Fitz’s old Army injuries joining them in their pursuit of a baby. As usual, Serenity is not afraid to tackle real issues in her stories, that give them depth, feeling and tension. I love all her books and this series wins on every level!
