This is another great story
This is another great example of a brilliantly written story. The characters are crafted wonderfully, and progress on a path to happiness rather speedily. This book would suit anybody who loves steamy historical romances, that have a bit of intrigue.
I was excited to read My Wicked Earl because in the previous book, My Duke’s Desire, Lady Violette talked about the circumstances that her family were in as well as about her siblings and I wanted to know more about the Chase family. This book can be read as a standalone but I would suggest reading the prequel where Rex is part of the story as well as the background is given on the Chase family. Having that part of the story makes this story more fulfilling to read.
Rex had come to collect Daffodil and her brother, Jacob, so that they could attend their sister’s wedding. It was supposed to be a simple task that he would do for his best friend, the Duke of Waverly, and then Rex could go back to his affairs in the Barbados. Unluckily for him, this wasn’t going to be an easy task because with most of the staff gone, they would need to find a proper chaperone to accompany them on the journey, otherwise Lady Daffodil’s reputation would be completely destroyed. Although, this sounds easy enough it was going to take time to arrange everything and that put Rex in a terrible situation as resisting Daffodil was a temptation he didn’t know if he was going to be able to achieve.
Lady Daffodil has been living with a pile of guilt for a mistake that she had made with a man who was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Although her reputation was not in tatters, she had to be very careful until she was able to make a match of her own. With the circumstances that she was in, having Rex around was a disaster in the making. Not only was she attracted to him, which was most unfortunate because he was a rake and she should have already learned from her past mistake, but without a proper chaperone she was putting her reputation at risk with every turn.
Both Daffodil and Rex had their own reasons for wanting to get to Violette’s wedding as quickly as possible and in the process putting as much distance between them as they could manage. Being together stirred up feelings and desires that neither of them wanted to have because it did not fit in with the future that either had planned for themselves. Fate, though, had other plans for them and as they were forced to spend time together their ideas of what should be started to turn into ideas of what could be. My Wicked Earl was a short but satisfying read that had humor, passion, and was a great addition to this wonderful series.
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Aurora Publicity. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
The last book in the Wicked Lords of London series ends with a wonderful match of Lord Rex and Lady Daffodil. He’s a rake and she is a bit bitter of men after close to being ruined. They both eventually overcome and grow from their past mistakes. Though she fights the attraction he is a savior for her and her brother. The shining star in my opinion for this story is Daffodil’s brother Jacob. He’s determined to protect his sister, learn, work hard, and rebuild his Earldom. I hope the author has an upcoming story for him.
Tammy Andresen writes the most charming stories. My Wicked Earl is book 5 in the Wicked Lords of London series and what a delightful regency read. I always enjoy and look forward to Tammy’s new releases. She writes such wonderful characters and original stories that I can escape into another place and time while reading it, she is that talented. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I do recommend you read all of the books in this series. This story has death, rescue, protectiveness, destitution, learning to cook, a brother’s love, mistrust, best friends, a rogue, an invalid, scandal, secrets and love! I highly recommend this book!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
It was a short quick story, but I do wonder how are the novels written by Tammy Andersen, as it is my second read and it is again a novella.
The characters have good premises of personality but as everything is solved rather quickly, impossible to really see real true deep in them.
Rex the H is self-declared a rake, but why, okay he left is late wife behind when he went exploring the world but he is not responsible for her death from some disease, so that he enjoyed his life as a bachelor after is no more a defect than for any other man during these time.
Daffodil was near ruined because she dared kiss a man, those times were so harsh with women, men can have their share of affairs but a woman is seen kissing a man and she is ruined. Whatever, because of one mistake, she sees herself as a failure and an out of redemption woman.
I do understand she was bitter around Rex, but I would have liked to watch their relationship evolve from enemies to lovers with less rush.
They have an instant chemistry but flipping the tables around them too fast does not give us time to see what great their change is for a near fallen woman to accept a rake in her life and for a rake to consider marriage for himself.
After I do liked Jacob, Daffodil’s brother, Ido wonder if the author has something in stock for him when he will be all grownup.
Another great addition to the Wicked Lords of London series! This time it is Rex and Daffodil and what a story! Rex is almost an enigma in that he had all the qualities of a marriageable Earl, but was a confirmed bachelor. Well of course he enjoyed his single life! Lady Daffodil is the perfect match for him and such a beautiful, strong and stubborn woman. Her and her brother have been left at home while her mother takes her sister Violette to find her a husband. Rex is to escort the two to her sister’s wedding.
This was such a fun story filled with humor and adventure that I highly recommend. Tammy always writes an entertaining story that will take you on a wonderful journey to an HEA. Have enjoyed this entire series!
Lord Rex Abelman, Earl of Casterly, has no intention of marrying again, he wants to return to his holdings in the West Indies after his best friend Theo marries. He’s asked to collect Theo’s fiancee’s brother & sister from London & return with them in time for the wedding. He is immediately drawn to Lady Daffodil who is as sweet and funny as she is beautiful. He quickly realises that the bond between Petal & her younger brother Jacob is strong
Daffodil or Petal as she’s known to her family is young but strong & resilient. Jacob is also a strong character & determined to restore his earldom to its former glory. Rex arrives in time to witness Petal cremating a joint of meat, the pair are immediately attracted to each other.
This is the fifth book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own I always feel the author’s books are best read in order as not only do they follow on from each other but they build an endearing community. The characters are always well fleshed & the story flows effortlessly. There’s humour & the road to their HEA is so much fun. A short novel or long novella that I read in an afternoon
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
My Wicked Earl is a short historical romance by Tammy Andresen. This is a great choice for readers with limited reading time. Ms. Andresen has delivered a well-written book loaded with outstanding characters. Daffodil and her brother have been left alone while their mother and sister go off to find a husband for her sister Violette. Rex arrived just in time to keep them from going hungry. His mission is to escort them to her sister’s wedding. Rex and Daffodil’s story is full of drama, humor, action and a touch of spice. I enjoyed this charming quick read and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. My Wicked Earl is book 5 of the Wicked Lords of London Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a great new addition to the Wicked Lords of London Series. It had humor, great family love and interactions, some revenge, bantering between H & h, romance and love. Lord Rex Abelman, Earl of Casterly was handsome, rich, funny & a confirmed bachelor. Lady Daffodil is sweet, loving, strong, stubborn & beautiful. They should make a great couple but what fun they have getting to their HEA. I highly recommend this book to all historical romance readers – Tammy Andresen has written an entertaining story with lovable main and secondary characters!
