4.5 Stars!
My Way to You is a well-written novel with interesting characters, harrowing situations, and a sexy couple that is hot both in and out of the bedroom. The heroine, Parker Sinclair, becomes the guardian to her two teenage siblings after their parents die tragically. Parker is fiercely independent, so asking for assistance has never been an option. She works night and day to keep her family’s ranch together, however, nothing can help when the California forest fires ravage their property. With their home mostly intact, she now has to contend with the upcoming winter rains, which will greatly affect their land and the land of their neighbors.
Colin Hudson works for the county. At this time, his primary job as a public works supervisor is to protect Parker’s already damaged property from worsening when the winter rains bring havoc to the area. The job is quite difficult and he is lucky to have a great support staff. Colin spends a lot of time with Parker, and a result, their business relationship evolves into much more. Colin provides the safety net and happiness that Parker so deservedly needs.
The author tells a compelling story with My Way to You, and my heart goes out to those that have to deal mother nature’s never ending wrath. The secondary characters are quite interesting, and I look forward to reading more about them in the future. I learned so much from this novel, while enjoying every moment of the relationships being developed. Another winner from Ms. Bybee.

Despite the fact that Catherine Bybee is a best-selling author, she was a new-to-me author when I picked up My Way to You. Anyone who has ever followed or read any of my reviews knows I’m always up for trying new authors because there are so many good ones out there. Most of the time I’m really glad I took a chance, and this was certainly one of those times.
This story is based on the author’s own experience and to say that the story packed an emotional punch is putting it lightly. I live on the East Coast so besides watching the horrifying mudslides California faces from time to time on tv, I have never had to think much about what people have to fight and have to go through. My Way to You was certainly eye-opening in that respect. But it’s also a story about loss and grief, family, and rebuilding your life when it has all crumbled around you. And it all unfolds under dramatic circumstances.
NICUnurse’s Rating: Let me just say that I will be picking up many more books by this author moving forward. There’s a reason she’s a best-selling author and part of that reason is her ability to draw you in from page one and tell a story in such a way you are not going to want to put the book down. There is so, so many wonderful things about this book, and I don’t want to spoil a second of it. Suffice it to say, I think you’ll be glad you took the time to read it!
I give My Way to You by Catherine Bybee 5 out of 5 stars!
My Way To You is my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. I enjoyed this book especially the heroine’s strength, that nothing seemed to really phase her. I loved that the hero complemented her. My Way To You is a sweet and wonderful read with awesome characters both main and secondary. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Absolutely riveting depiction of the devastation endured by first wild fire and then extreme floods. There is also a well crafted human story filled with both love and heartache. I could not put this book down until I got near the end, then I paused for a bit not wanting it to end.
Knowing this is a work of fiction based on real life events the author endured make this an amazing story. Read it, well worth your time.
I haven’t read a Catherine Bybee book in years and I forgot how much I love her words! This was an amazing start to a new series. I loved how tough Parker was. She had so much to deal with and did it with so much determination that you can’t help but love her. Colin….he is so needed in Parker’s life. He just wants to help and watching him break through her walls was just so sweet.
I loved the book & I can’t wait to read more!!
This was a powerful and emotional story. I FELT everything Parker was going through. And as a long-time follower of Catherine Bybee, she had to deal with a fire surrounding her home and major flooding afterwards. I saw her videos she posted during this time, so she poured her story into Parker’s. (If you haven’t seen her videos, search her facebook page) Like Catherine, Parker is a strong, independent woman and does whatever needs to be done because she can’t wait on anyone else. She’s had a rough hand in life and she’s making the best of things. I adored her and admired her strength. Because of the potential flooding, Parker meets Colin and neither one was looking for anyone. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and felt the pull between them. But Parker has A LOT going on! This was a great love story. I couldn’t pull myself away from their world and was sad when it was over. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
I love Catherine Bybee books. This one included. My Way to You features a sister raising her brother and sister after their parents were killed in an accident. Parker has tried her best to do all she can to raise her siblings the way she thought her parents would have raised them. Giving them the shirt off her back basically and keeping their family home afloat.
Which is especially difficult in California dry seasons. Forest fires can be so scary especially when they’re almost on top of your property. What Parker didn’t expect was to meet Colin – a guy who works for the county that wants to make it harder for the fires to come her way and then flooding when the rains to come.
This was such a great love story. Colin is so careful with Parker. Not that she needs hand holding. She’s just forgotten how to live for herself. Taking the time to get to know her is the key to her heart. It really is worth it in the end.
A wonderful start to a new series, I had a hard time putting it down, knowing that the author had lived through these environmental tragedies herself. This story is more than a romance but what a strong person, Parker is.
Parker is raising her two younger siblings after her parents die tragically. After they barely survive the wild fires and are now dealing the flooding in the Canyon, she meets Colin, who works for the public works department to protect Parker’s property. As they work together to save the property, their hearts open up to each other too.
Loved Parker, a very strong female figure but also a control freak. Loved Colin, who not give up on Parker. Everyone needs Colin’s mom!! I can’t wait to learn more about Erin, she has so many secrets. I highly recommend this book.
ARC received via Netgalley/Montlake for an honest review
I have been reading Catherine Bybee books for many years now, and I can remember a few years back, her stories/posts on social media about the fires and then the rains that hit her property.
This is also a reminder to me of what so many are going through here in Australia at the moment.
As I was reading My Way To You, I was remembering some of those stories. I remember thinking at the time everything was happening to her, how strong Ms Bybee was.
That strength carried through to Parker in this story. Sometimes she came across as a woman twice her age. Sometimes it felt a little OTT, then again the situation was OTT.
I adore Colin right from the get go. He could have been a pompous ar$e and treat Parker like she knows nothing, but he doesn’t.
The relationship between Parker and Colin is sweet and tender and… easy. No stupid arguments, no miscommunications, it just… was.
This is book one in the series, and I look forward to seeing where it takes us next.
Wow! I’ve enjoyed all of Catherine Bybee’s books, but this one was fascinating. It grabbed me from the start and didn’t let me go until I reached the end. Plus it left me wanting to read more about the other characters, so I can hardly wait for the next in the series! Parker and her family lost their parents suddenly. She took over the role of parent with her siblings. And this is all before the book really begins. The story picks up a couple years later and they are facing losing their home to a wildfire. The story was detailed and fascinating. I’ve known people who have lost everything to wildfires, but this story put the experience into a new perspective for me. Parker was such a strong woman. I loved her for so many reasons. And then Colin aka TDH walks into her life. He’s such an awesome hero for her. He was just what she needed. Someone to respect her strength and not try to take her over. I loved this story from beginning to end and wasn’t quite ready to leave. I’m happy to see that there are more books in the series coming. I can hardly wait. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is such an amazing book! It is based on the author’s own experience with California wildfires and the resulting problems with lost vegetation and mudslides. Bybee has managed to blend the uncertainty of where and what wildfires will go and do, the emotional aspect of it including the fear, information about what happens after a fire with a sweet story of family survival and a surprising romance. I could not turn the pages fast enough! My Way to You is a fantastic read!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. All thoughts are my own.
Wow! I mean, WOW!!! I was aware of the struggles this author went through after the fact, and before reading this book, and was in awe at her strength. Going into this story, I was unaware that her experiences were the backdrop for this particular book, though I knew one was in the making. Throughout this reading and especially at its completion, I was left speechless. Yes, this is a work of fiction, wonderful romance, and I’m sure a bit of added drama. That doesn’t negate the journey Ms. Bybee and by extension, the heroine of this story, endured to reach a happy ending.
After the death of Parker’s parents, her life is put on hold as she takes on the responsibility of raising her siblings. When their home is at risk of destruction by fire, it’s all she can do to hold on. The destruction left behind the fire along with years of drought, and the threat of a wet winter which would bring floods and mudslides, almost bring her to her knees as she regroups, determined to save their home.
Man, Parker was one fierce heroine! She had strength I could only gape at. When kicked to the ground, she got back up…fighting stronger than before. It’s that tough girl, take no prisoner, characteristic that first attracts Colin to her. Watching her slowly give way to a place where she yielded to his help was especially sweet and emotional.
”I have an AK, an AR, a shotgun, a nine-eleven, and a forty Glock, and I’m a really good shot. I’m responsible for my teenage brother and college-aged sister. The only time that gate opens at two in the morning is if someone is sneaking in or sneaking out. You will call me if you’re coming in.”
Colin was the best kind of hero. He was strong and protective, but so sweet and caring. His ability to make Parker laugh had me falling in love with him. Despite wanting to take over and protect her, he gave her the freedom she was accustomed to, even if it went against his very nature.
’The image of him picking her up and tossing her over his shoulder was the perfect amount of Neanderthal for him. Something told him she might not be into the over-the-shoulder toss.
Yet.’
This is filled with lots of drama brought on by that brutal secondary character, Mother Nature. But at the heart of the story is the relationship developing between Parker and Colin. They were perfect together. Their banter was fun and witty, making me laugh along with them. And when things took a darker turn, my heart hurt with them as well.
This has a wonderful pace to it, plenty of humor to lighten the more intense moments, interesting additional characters I hope to see more of (Can’t wait for Erin’s story!), and chemistry between this hero and heroine that was absolutely searing. This was an exceptional read that will stay in my heart for a long time to come.
“My Way To You” by Cathrine Bybee
In my humble unbiased opinion… you do NOT want to miss reading this story. Well, if you read the blurb/description and then asking opinions of the story… you have your answer. This story is worth the read. Happy Reading ! !
I received an ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley and this my honest review.
What an awesome book! Lots of emotion, family interactions, friends, romance, suspense. I learned much about surviving wildfires and preventing and enduring flooding, and was rewarded with a compelling story with strong characters. I couldn’t put it down and I eagerly await the next book in this series.
