“My Vampire” is the first book in the “My Supernatural Boyfriend” Duology by E.E. Everly, a UF paranormal romance featuring the star-crossed relationship between a male vampire and a female storm sprite (MC). The plot offers a couple of unexpected twist and mixes vampire lore with demonic elements and a fresh take on storm sprites, who are supposed to possess a strange intoxicating blood that vampires cannot resist, some twilight subplot comes to mind.
Sasha is a relatively carefree young woman whose rare blood makes her a target for supernaturals; after being rescued from a vampire attack by Killian, the two MC develop a rare and uneasy friendship, after all Killian himself is a vampire too and thirsts for Sasha’s life. Somehow Killian manages to keep his distance while being her bodyguard at the same time. The situation is of course not tenable, and things become a lot more complicated when a demonic amulet comes into play and a full battle for its possession, has Sasha and Killian fighting demons, vampires and themselves.
“My Vampire” is, at under 200 pages, a medium length story, that despite focussing in the romance story, manages to include some interesting action and adventure elements in the mix. A fun read that manages to walk the line between steamy and mild romance with ease…. Beware of sad endings!
This was not what I was expecting. Interesting world building with three main supernaturals identified: vampires, storm sprites, and seed demons. Each has a distinct set of powers however, both demons and vampires desire storm sprite blood. This makes Sasha’s existence fairly perilous. Enter Killian as her vampiric guardian angel. The romance was actually very sweet and clean. I love the interplay between Sasha and Killian. Also, Sasha’s “ambrosia” is hilarious. The end was a complete surprise and I may need a hug, now.
This book grabbed my attention from page one and held it until the very end. I couldn’t put it down. The world and character development are slow going but it’s so fast paced you really might not care as I haven’t.
The two main characters are Sasha a half storm sprite/half demon and Killian a vampire. Their story revolves around a murder, Sasha’s blood being irresistible to vampires (yes, even Killian who does eventually become her protector), sexual tension and even a war between 3 paranormal factions (the sprites, demons & vampires).
Will Sasha and Killian become a couple? Does the war end or are we left with a cliffhanger? If the war does end, which faction wins? To find the answers, I highly recommend buying this book. I won’t give spoilers. Kudos to E.E. Everly.
Killian is a vampire in love with Sasha a storm sprite. Sasha is the daughter of a storm sprite and a demon. Anya is Killian’s sister and the head of their clan of vampires. Put that mix together and you have major problems. Vampires desire sprites or fae blood, demons hate vampires, and sprites try to stay clear of both. Unfortunately Sasha and Killian fall in love. Sasha’s demon father what’s to shed the human he is encased in, Sasha can free him by releasing his power from a special amulet. Anya wants the demon powers in the amulet to trap other demon spirits and use their power to capture the sprites for their blood. It all ends in a very dramatic battle and both sides lose many, but the story doesn’t end there. It keeps you at the edge until the end.
Rated 2.5 stars. I received an ARC copy for my honest review.
E. E. Everly introduces us to the spit-fire fae, Sasha, and the vampire who stalks her with the best intentions, Killian with the first novel in the My Supernatural Boyfriend series. Cursed to survive on earth where other supernaturals crave to use her for one reason or another, Sasha finds an uncommon protector in the vampire who denies himself despite the call of her blood. When a girl is killed in Sasha’s college dorms, Killian and Sasha are thrust into the middle of a feud between demons and vampires all seeking to use Sasha for their own magical gain. Will they emerge alive or will Sasha find herself at the mercy of her very own vampire.
Everly introduces her readers to a new world full of the supernatural and magical tension. With an interesting premise, her story drags readers hopefully into a captivating tale. Unfortunately for myself, I was unable to fully engage in Sasha and Killian’s story. Partially this was due to the writing not clicking with my own personal style choices. Otherwise, My Vampire could have used a stronger plot layout and story flow. The world building was thrown at the reader instead of delivered throughout the story. The angst of the main character’s relationship also became quite repetitive during the course of the story. However, if you are looking for an easy to read book that has action, romance, and a supernatural element, then E. E. Everly’s My Vampire might be for you.
Authors, when you write the most wonderful book that I can barely put down and then you write the worst ending ever, you’ve ruined the whole story.
I could have freaking loved this, but some author’s think it’s great to mess it up with a crappy ending. This is my first book from this author and I’m not interested in reading another. I do NOT recommend this book.
Great start to a series that will be well worth reading. The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of chemistry throughout the pages.
I received a copy and am voluntary leaving my honest review.
Sasha is a storm sprite cursed and on earth where paranormals were wanting her for one reason or another. Killian is a vampire that came to Sasha’s rescue. Killian and Sasha’s fun and interesting relationship was filled with constant danger from other vampires and demons, lies, betrayal, fighting their attraction and falling in love with a sworn enemy of the others species. Fun read.
