I really loved this story. I liked it how it went back and forth between the past and the present. I kept you wanting to know what was next. You get to chose the ending. I was torn on the ending I wanted to chose but in the end I chose Kyle because he was the one who liked her first and wanted to start a relationship with her but she didn’t think that was what she wanted. I didn’t chose Jake because even though he meant well in some aspects when you take a marriages financial and put it in jeopardy there is really no coming back from that. Plus he had trouble with alcohol so I thought Kyle would be the better person. I was hoping she could keep both. : )
Who doesn’t love a choose your own adventure featuring two suitors? This one gave me a few feels and made me laugh out loud.
Loved the plot with a heroine stuck between the two men in her life. Lots of humorous predicaments as well as some sad and serious moments. Two very different men who yearn for the same woman. The ending gives the reader a choice of how to resolve Natalie’s love life. A cute twist.
Just not as good as what I have been listening to lately. The only thing to save this was the narrator who does an excellent job, as always. This is a then and now type of book between Natalie and her husband Kyle (Now) and ex-husband Jake (Then) and what brought them to the present. I found myself rolling my eyes and shaking my head thinking there was just too much insecurity and especially Natalie needed to get out fast.
(I do have to say if I had picked this one up in kindle I would have put it down and not finished but as it was playing on audio while I was crafting I listened to the end.)
This was my first Amanda Aksel’s book. This is a great Romantic Comedy. The story goes back and forth from past to present. Natalie, Kyle, and Jake are great characters. I honestly can’t tell which team I prefer between Natalie/Kyle or Natalie/Jake. The storyline is original and intriguing, filled with drama, and twists and turns. The story has it all! It’s hilarious, and sexy, but also heartbreaking. Erin Mallon did an amazing job with the narration. All characters were very easy to distinguish. Her male voice is amazing.
My Two Husbands: A Laugh Out Loud Romantic Comedy
By: Amanda Aksel
Narrated by: Erin Mallon
My two husbands is a not only a comedy, but a romance that left me wondering which team I really wanted! Natalie met Jake while on her first date with Kyle. These two best friends are total opposites, and Natalie found herself drawn to Jake. After falling for him, marrying and divorce, she found herself in love with Kyle. Now married with Jake living in her house, this unconventional story lets us take a walk through their lives, with flashbacks to what has happened to the uncertainty of where they will end up! It’s funny, frustrating, sad, and loving all in one book. The problem is, when it comes down to choosing just one, I really had a problem! I loved both Kyle and Jake! Amanda Aksel has a real talent for romcom and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
There is nothing I can say about Erin Mallon that has not already been said. She is a talent beyond compare, I have listened to her in all romance sub genres, but I think comedy is my favorite. She has a timing that is perfect and leaves me smiling long after the joke is over. Her voices are always fitting to the character, and I just find her narrations like coming home. This was a perfect book for her.

This is a good easy read but I just think this is a weird and difficult relationship. Natalie…Natalie is in a predicament. She has feelings for both so I was expecting a threesome to be the result. Especially as the two men seem to still enjoy her separately and they are still best friends. I really don’t know who can do that. Remain friends……
My biggest issue with this is the back and forth in time. Just as a scene is getting good….it stops and we go back in time to a scene from her past. I am not a fan of this unless it smooth transition and done few are far between. I understand why the author does this but it’s not a favorite way of mine. On the other hand she did keep me interested so I guess she did her job well.
The Epilogue Is different. I see what the author is doing. Making sure everyone gets their happily ever after. I struggle to make a dinner decision let along decide who get Natalie. I favor each man for different reasons.
This is my first book by this author. I story was compelling enough and kept my interest. The characters were wonderful although it was a weird situation. I listened to this on audio and Erin Mallon narrates the quirky story. She does a wonderful job and I enjoy listening to her.
Amusing and entertaining..3.5 stars
I thought My Two Husbands enjoyable read with likable characters. We get vignettes of the relationship between Natalie, Jake, and his best friend, Kyle. So the title gives us a clue that Natalie has two men living in the same house, Kyle, her present husband, and Jake, her ex-husband. And the beginning it starts quite harmonious with everyone getting along in such a unique living situation.
The storyline is written with back and forth toggling of the present and past, how they all meet, how the dating begins, and the friendship dynamics between Jake and Kyle, and each is interested in the same woman. Ms. Aksel makes it flow seamlessly the past and present, but where it lost me is the end chapter where the reader is asked to vote which man Natalie should pick to live her HEA. I loved both guys equally, Jake had his faults but overcame them, and Kyle just seemed too perfect but had his insecurities. Still, I was rooting for a menage or poly situation, I wanted them all to be together.
I admitted to cheating and reading both possible scenarios because I’m a sucker for a romantic ending. Still, choosing an ending to a story is quite a unique experience. I would have chosen a third choice whereby they tried to make it work together. I found My Two Husbands an entertaining read. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
