Where to even start?
From page one you can tell how much heart and soul K Webster put into this book. What an eye opening, heart warming, make you just want to hug everyone who could be consider “different” kind of book.
I seriously can’t put into words how much this book touched my heart. I started reading it while at the airport one morning and finished in bawling my eyes out 34,000 feet in the air. I cried sad tears. I cried happy tears. Oh and “Mama Bear” wanted to come out a time or two as well but Casey handled it quite well for me. My Torin, was just everything!
I went into this book not really knowing what I was truly getting myself into. I love starting books this way and then falling deeply in love with each character. Trust me and grab a copy of My Torin today – you won’t be disappointed!
Torin by K. Webster is an interestingly descriptive story of two brothers and a young woman.
Not your typical love triangle, each of the characters fulfill a void inside the other in different ways.
Tyler and Torin are brothers. Casey is an orphaned child of an addict and was left on Christmas in a nativity setting of a church. What seems to be just an event of a baby being left is the catalyst to all that happens, though chance (or you can say fate) plays a huge part in current events.
I don’t want to delve deeper into describing each characters and what makes them unique so as to not accidentally reveal spoilers but what I want to share is that this book is more than romance, it delves deeper into conditions we don’t necessarily see and face unless we are in Tyler’s shoes.
K. Webster opens our eyes and broadens our horizons into understanding more and more about what makes people different.
Rarely have I ever given a three star review to a K. Webster books (yep, she is that good in the “you didn’t see that one coming, did you?” way but I felt something missing from this story. Some emotion or some form of idea that it lacked and I had a hard time fully connecting with the story as a whole.
With that said, I did enjoy this story and its premise. Interestingly unique in its own sense.
Emotional this book brings tears and feelings out of you.
This story of two ppl who overcome obstacles. A romance where I learned something new, and an original love story truly recommend this one.
What fantastic writing and storytelling Author K Webster. I struggled with this one emotionally in parts and the inner struggle was at times heart wrenching but in the best “make you feel” way possible. Thank you for screwing with my head and heart in the most beautiful way.
“Using her life a torch, I want to carry her throughout the house and light up every single dark part of my world. I want to fill it to the brim with her.”
This book is about Casey, who was born to a crack cocaine addicted woman who abandoned her at a church. Her life started out really bad and continued until she’s 17. One day she comes ‘home’ and there is a man who wants her to come with him, and even though she doesn’t know what his intentions are she feels safe. I myself didn’t get any creepy vibes from him even though he acted that way a couple of times. Like Casey, I had to figure out what was going on myself.
“Two of the most abnormal people on Earth. Yet, right now, we fit in. We belong. Together, we make up something beautiful.”
I am going to be super vague because I don’t want to spoil anything. But the characters in this book all are very special and my heart went out to all of them. They take Casey into their home and give her something she never had: a loving/caring home and family. It isn’t always easy to be part of this family and there are very difficult times, but they have each other. There were a couple of heartbreaking moments that had me in tears. A couple of things I saw coming early on in the story but the author had a couple of other surprises up her sleeve like always!
“Love isn’t something you can control. It controls you. Fills you up and infects every part of you until all you can do is just live and breathe it every second of every day.”
My Torin was an unusual love story, with broken characters. Both main characters are seen as weird or not normal, but in my opinion the things that make them different make them unique and beautiful. I loved seeing them growing as individuals and finding love. This was another original story by K. Webster, I can always count on her to come up with something new and refreshing. I highly recommend this book to my fellow book lovers.
K. Webster has killed me! I absolutely loved this story. I love Tyler and Casey and most especially MY Torin. K. Webster is freaking goals for me as an aspiring, maybe one day author. I want to to be her when I grow up. These stories and worlds that she give us that break the norm are my absolute favorite thing! I love to read something that hasn’t been done before and pushes past my comfort zone. K. always make me think and fulfills a need I have to see things differently. I love to know what others think, and getting to see the world through Torin’s eyes was one of the best things I’ve ever read. This is by far my favorite K. Webster book yet!
“I grab his hand and thread our fingers together. He leans into me, his nose inhaling my hair. This is us. We’re two halves of a whole. The sun and moon working together in perfect harmony.”
This Author is a magician, crafting the unusual into beautiful, and this one is high at the top of my list of 2018 and the year has just started. The content of this book is unlike anything I’ve ever read, and it is impossible to describe without ruining it for a reader, but the Author nails it again in every way possible. It’s a subject that not many breach, but they should. An absolutely magnificent story about hope, love, second chances despite what might be considered “normal” that made me cry like a baby, smile like a loon, laugh like a maniac, and filled my heart with so many emotions, I couldn’t function. One of the best experiences as a reader that I have had in a very long time!! Go in blind, don’t try to figure out what it’s about, just read it. I thank the Author for providing a copy to review.
“Casey is a calm to my chaos. A rainbow after my storm. I breathelicktastetouchsmellfeelneed her.”

Every now & then a book comes along that grips your heart and leaves you feeling all shades of emotional. This was one of those books! Right from the prologue I knew I was in for a heartfelt and emotional ride. This book has left be feeling a cross between an emotional wreck and all mushy inside. It’s a love story with a difference.
Told from a multiple POV this book deals with a very real life situation, autism. It puts into perspective how society treats people who are just that little bit different; and it’s heartbreaking. K Webster has done the unthinkable and written chapters from the POV of the autistic character. She has nailed the frustration they suffer yet also verbalise that they are highly intelligent but demonstrate struggle they endure with both social and emotional skills. This book certainly gives you food for thought!
In true K Webster style this book has a nice little twist at the end! This book will stay with me for a long time to come. A top read for 2018!
An inspirational story about love and life, and accepting those who are different or unique. I definitely recommend this book!
Casey Casey…..
The thing I love most about reading K Webster is you never know what you are going to get with her stories. She’s not afraid to push boundaries all while bringing you a fantastic read. This story was no different.
Casey, Torin and Tyler are they type of characters I am not soon to forget, nope this story is going to stay with me for a very long time to come. It was just one of those reads and was written in epic K Webster fashion.
The way these two brothers come together with Casey is not something you would ever imagine, as crazy as the concept is, it was just as perfect. At first I was scared and then I was like “oh we might get our first Webster Menage” and then I was like “oh I don’t think I like that idea, I thought hmmm she has to pick just one” and then I thought “oh holy hell how does she pick just one”?! In essence though it wasn’t even so much about picking one over the other, there was just so much else going on… so much more of a meaning between these three beautiful souls being brought together.
This was a story of family, of love, of things not always being as they appear, of taking a chance even when you are so very scared. It was beyond beautiful. I loved every minute of it. #Ibreathelicktastetouchsmellfeelneedyou
Right, let me start by saying K Webster has done it again.
This is so far my first favorite of 2018. this one will stay with me a long time to come.
The feels this book gave me from start to finish, Loved the story it is unique and beautiful.
The story revolves around Casey, Tyler, and Torin.
I can’t say much about this book as I don’t want to put any spoilers but this is a MUST read.
It had me from the start, I’m not sure how many times I had wet eyes while reading this book, it just hit me hard. It was just beautiful but also emotional. I have to say I never read a story like this one. This is so much more than just a love story.
I loved the characters I just wanted to jump in the book and hug them. Torin I just loved him I could have read a book on just him… I just found his character great… he is beautiful he is brave and loves his brother.
The epilogue was just lovely knowing that … well, I can say as it would spoil the story you will have to just read it find out.
If you love K Webster’s books then give this one a go you will not be disappointed.
What an incredible book!!! For a book that handles such sensitive and difficult subjects I thought K handled them all with grace, dignity and complete understanding. This book was so difficult to read on many levels, but oh so worth it in the end. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Webster has up her sleeve for her readers next.
This author never ceases to amaze me! Where she comes up with these story lines, I have no idea, but I don’t want her to ever stop! When I started this book I was torn if I wanted to savior it or devour it, so I did a little bit of both!
When reading a book it’s only natural to try to predict the story while your reading and it was impossible for me to do that with this book. When I thought the story was going to go one way, it took a sharp left turn and went another way. The author did an excellent job on keeping me on my toes for the ENTIRE story! I loved all the thought and detail the author put into the story. At the end, it all paid off. It all came together so perfectly and I couldn’t have ask for anything more.
Through out the entire story, I felt sorrow and anger and frustration and love for these characters and what they were going through. There was a time I was torn on who’s side I should be on, but I just couldn’t choose! There was no way to choose! I loved that the author was able to draw out such emotion from me! That is a sign of a great book! If you are looking for a book with an intense story line, tons of emotions, and full of twists and turns this is a MUST READ book!
I’m not even sure where to begin with this review. My Torin is arguable one of the most emotional books I’ve ever experienced. Yes, experienced. I didn’t read it- I felt it in every fiber of my being. I am puffy eyed, snot sniffling, and smiling a wobbly smile. I was tortured by my feelings and the magic of K Webster’s words.
My Torin resulted in 45 PMs and 4 Facebook posts while reading it. That doesn’t even begin to describe the zeal and enthusiasm I will approach pimping this book out. IT IS A MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to say that with the author’s fondness to go outside the lines and scribble on the walls- I was wary. I kept getting hung up the tag line on the cover. But as inadequate as that one word “strange” describes all this book encompasses- its also oddly fitting. It hurts my heart to say that but you won’t understand unless you read it.
Its an epic and beautifully poetic story. (No, no actual poetry in the words but the feels!) My Torin stole a piece of me I will never recover. I knew K Webster could create characters that are real. I knew that she had the ability to spin a story so well that you didn’t know you weren’t living it for real. But the only book of hers prior to My Torin that actually crippled me was Whispers and the Roars. Now I can safely say that my heart beats with an extra stutter. A tiny skipped beat that can never be fixed but will always be felt. A permanent mark on my soul.
My Torin (and Whispers and the Roars) are tattooed on my mind and a stutter in my heart. I may not have read K Webster’s entire catalog but I have never been disappointed in her words. I don’t love all of her characters (coughs Hannah) but every single one evokes some sort of emotional response from me. Torin now reigns supreme as…Real.
reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
As with so many K. Webster books you really need to go in blind to this one. I for one am not going to give ANYTHING of the plot away. What I will say is that, despite only being a few days into January, this could well be my favourite read of 2018.
This book touched my heart. Sometimes it lovingly stroked it, as though petting a cat. Other times it dug it’s claws in, crushing and tearing my heart to pieces. It’s lodged in my head and my heart and has left me with a massive book hangover.
This is a book about beautiful people, love and acceptance and if you don’t read any other book this year you should read this one. It’s amazingwonderfulsadhappystunning.
After reading the synopsis for My Torin, I was so intrigued. I haven’t read many of K. Webster’s books since I’m not typically a fan of the dark side. I had heard from a few book friends about prior books and I kinda shied away from her thinking she just wasn’t my style.
This book had me on the edge of my seat. God, my heart hurt for Casey and all she’d been through. Abandoned and raised in the foster care system, not having anyone who truly loved her.
When Tyler arrives and “rescues” her, bringing her into his home where she meets his brother, Torin, let’s just say the book really took off and had my head reeling.
There are so many layers to this story. I laughed, I cried, and had so many mixed emotions. I loved K. Webster’s writing and her ability to create such a unique story—so different, I couldn’t wait to dive back in to find out how it would all turn out.
I only had one little issue that I can’t divulge without spoiling anything, but overall it was a great read and fell hard for the characters, especially Torin !!
My Torin is my first 6 star read of the year and it’s going on my list of Top Reads of the Year 2018. This story is so hauntingly beautiful and complex I honestly don’t think I can find the words to describe how it made me feel without scaring you. If you’ve ever had the temptation to read a story outside of your comfort zone, this is the story to dip your toes in the water with, I promise it’ll be worth every tear you’ll shed. Ms. Webster’s managed to write three amazing characters in this story, that you won’t soon forget which were so unbelievably broken and yet so strong, my heart ached for them. While the story is heavy at times there were moments of levity that were so appreciated, so as not to drown us in gloom and despair. There were pages that were difficult to read at times, the words would become blurry, because I found myself laughing and crying at the same time like some deranged psych ward patient. After my heart took a pounding I was rewarded by the ending, and the beautiful and happy epilogue, that made me cry all over again out of sheer joy! Please, pleasepleasePLEASE, do yourselves a favor and read it!
I really recommend going in blind, but I know not a lot of people are that brave, so I’m going to say as little as possible about the story.
“Do you think she’s pretty?”
“Pretty is one word and she is many. Beautiful. Alluring. Appealing. Charming. Cute. Dazzling. Delicate. Delightful. Elegant. Exquisite. Fascinating. Fine. Gorgeous. Graceful. Lovely. Magnificent. Marvelous. Pleasing. Splendid. Stunning. Wonderful. Superb. Angelic. Bewitching. Classy. Divine. Excellent. Enticing. Foxy. Fair. Pulchritudinous. Radiant. Ravishing. Resplendent. Shapely. Beautiful.”
“You said beautiful twice.”
“It needed to be said twice.”
A family devastated by loss. A Christmas miracle. A penny found on the ground. Random and seemingly strange coincidences. Strong and selfless love. Tyler. Torin. Casey-Casey.
“I don’t know how to love.”
“Love isn’t something you can control. It controls you. Fills you up and infects every part of you until all you can do is just live and breathe it every second of every day.”
“Sounds like a disease.”
“Love is a cure.”
I wish I could read this book for the first time, again.
“I breathelicktastetouchsmellfeelneed you.”
When I began this story, I wasn’t sure what to expect. K. Webster is known for her taboo, and often “unacceptable” stories. This definitely wasn’t that.
Casey has lived a life full of misery and disappointment. From the very beginning, I connected with that part of her – the part that was always looking for the other shoe to fall. In fact, one of my favorite lines in the book reflects a mantra I try to live by: “I try not to hope. Hope is a sketchy bitch.” When Casey meets Tyler she is offered everything she’s never had, but she is absolutely certain there is a catch. What could Tyler be hiding? What does he really want? For Casey there is always an ulterior motive.
As it turns out, Tyler seems to be all that he appears, but Casey knows the score. “A rich prince, I see. But fairy tales always have a villain.” There is a note of truth to this, but as for the villain in this story … we have yet to meet them just yet. In fact, you may not even be able to guess what’s going on behind the scenes of the story.
Then you meet Torin … He is someone I’ve been waiting to see represented well in a novel. I loved reading about him, and I think he is one of the most interesting, confusing, and downright wonderful characters I’ve read. There’s a lot behind the character that is Torin, a lot which you need to discover for yourself—a lot that truly makes the story.
There’s a lot here I can’t share without feeling like you’d miss out on an integral part of the discovery that goes along with reading this story. I’d recommend giving this story a try, if only to expand yourself out of the basic romance experience and allow yourself something that can show you beauty, if only in a different way.
I breathlicktastetouchsmellfeelneed you…..
That above says it all. It says everything.
I so love climbing into the mind of K. Webster and falling into her stories. You have to go slowly and savor every word. You don’t want to miss anything!
This is a better than love story, this is about we are all unique and special and no less than anybody else and we all deserve love. This is also twisty and a bit dark, just how we love Ms. Webster’s books. I could feel her words, like really feel them. Her characters plow into your head and won’t let go until they are ready. This story will make you cry, it will also make you smile and it will give you faith in human emotions.
Oh and the pennies, how they play into the story is phenomenal. I will never look at a penny the same way again! This is a book that you won’t be able to put down once you start, you think you know what’s going to happen but you won’t, because that’s how K rolls!
I have been a loyal stalker of K.’s since I read Apartment 2B. I bow down to the Queen of Darkness!!
Sum up this book with one word it’s beautiful. This book will fill you with love and adoration. It’s a book that has you turning the pages and not able to stop knowing what’s gonna happen next. My heart felt Tyler, Casey and Torin throughout the story. I even got goosebumps while reading because you just want to be part of there world. Tyler such a thoughtful amazing man that will do anything to protect the ones he loves. Casey a girl that has been alone most her life just wanting to be loved. Torin such a strong man that deserves so much. K Webster welcomed 2018 with a bang and definitely delivered one of her best books to date. If I could give this book 10 stars I would 5/5 breathelicktastetouchsmellfeelneed you stars ****Reviewed by Sweet & Spicy Reads a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****
