New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.
Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and … transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate — a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister — and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.
My Sister’s Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life, even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less? Should you follow your own heart, or let others lead you? Once again, in My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult tackles a controversial real-life subject with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity.

Good story with a tragic twist of fate.
Disturbing..
Too much was placed on the sister to save her sibling. She felt that was her main purpose in life, sad.
An all time favorite of mine. I love novels about medical issues, family drama and a story that keeps your interest from start to finish. I give it 5 Stars
I’m never disappointed in this Jodi Picoult.
Extremely thought provoking.
I’ve always liked novels driven by ethical dilemmas and Piccoult is the master of the genre. In this one, she examines the responsibilities of a teen who’s asked to keep giving in order to keep her sister alive. The characters are very real and complex, and there’s no simple answer to the important questions raised.
Really enjoyed it. It is different from the movie!
I like all Jodi’s books!
Jody Picoult’s books range from great plots to bizarre. This is one of the good ones!
A very troubling story about desperate parents and how far they will go to save their child. I can’t imagine the dilemma myself and do not know how I would proceed, but the whole idea of using one child to save another is disturbing at best. Picoult tugs at our heart-string and certainly makes you think about all of the angles to this …
A stunning novel about a couple who conceives, aided by their physicians, a genetically engineered baby, to act as “donor” for a previous child with leukemia. Everyone should read this book, if only to see what is done these days in the name of science. The emotional toll suffered by the ‘donor’ child along with the other children in the …
No one should be used to save their sister
This book was given to me by a friend. I’d never heard of it and didn’t know what to expect. What a wonderful and pleasing surprise it turned out to be! Such captivating writing and an original storyline that kept surprising me. I loved Edgar and am glad I met him.
This book left a lasting impression on me. Unforgettable.
I read it several years ago, but I remember it was one of my favorites. Piccoult’s books in which characters face ethical dilemmas are among my favorites. This one is no exception. Recommended for its sympathetic characters, the relationships among those most affected by the decisions are the most fascinating, of course. The principles are clearly …
I love this author and this is one of my all time favorite books. I was disappointed when the movie had a different ending.
Mixed emotions throughout the book. Couldn’t put it down. Loved it.
I liked Jodi Picolult’s books – they are always informative, modern, up to date and just good reading.
I loved this book
