New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.
Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and … transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate — a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister — and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.
My Sister’s Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life, even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less? Should you follow your own heart, or let others lead you? Once again, in My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult tackles a controversial real-life subject with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity.

My favorite Jodi Picoult book.
Unusual plot, interesting characters in an unusual situation.
Loved the movie, not that much fan of the book. It was fine for a one time only read.
Very emotional story about love between siblings!
I read this book in high school. The depth of each character is amazing. The ending truly unpredictable. This was my first Jodi Picoult book and when I finished it I recommended it to all of my friends who then read it and recommended it as well.
Way better than the movie
Great book- makes you question what u would do in that situation
You will be riveted by this page turner. It will make you question your own moral compass.
This book is awesome! You never see the twist at the end of the book coming!
Not for the faint-hearted, but one of my favorite books – ever. A heart-wrenching tale of a family dealing w/ a life-threateningly ill child.
Jodi Picoult presented the reader with an ethical and moral dilemma. My Sister’s Keeper is about a mother who had a child with cancer. She and her husband thought they would solve their problem by having another child and making that child undergo bone marrow transplant and countless other operations to keep the sick child alive. But what about …
Be prepared for a twist
WOW! The first book that I’d read by Jodi Piccoult and it hasn’t been the last. I did not see the ending coming at all!
I read this book several years ago and still, in my mind, one of her best books. I loved that each chapter is from another character’s point of view. Who you don’t hear from, or rather read about, is the other sister. Every character seems realistic through their difficulties. Pulled at my heart all the way through with a surprise ending.
It’s hard to pinpoint the right words to describe how I felt about this story. Tragic, haunting, beautiful in a way… ? It’s been a few years since I read this book, but I definitely remember it, so that says something!
One of my all time favorite books!
Read the book, don’t watch the movie! I don’t understand why authors allow screenwriters to rewrite the endings of their books?! One of Picoult’s best—very thought provoking. You will continue to think about it for years!!!
Picot is one of my favorite authors. She makes me see things in ways I never imagined
This book was one of the best and I have read over 500 books in my life time everyone should read it.
I read this book on a long flight, and was trying not to sob out loud and draw the attention of the other passengers. Great story, though! This author writes with a lot of heart.
