New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.
Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and … transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate — a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister — and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.
My Sister’s Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life, even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less? Should you follow your own heart, or let others lead you? Once again, in My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult tackles a controversial real-life subject with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity.

Never saw the ending coming! Good read!
One of Jodi Piccault’s best. A family torn apart. Two sisters who love each other and a conflict that has no solution. The ending will break your heart.
An excellent description of a fraught situation. However, having arrived at an outcome that left many questions unanswered, the author killed off the protagonist and avoided dealing with any of those questions. I was furious. I wrote the author and never received the courtesy of a response.
The ending had me hystical crying
One cannot sacrifice one child for another.
Hated the ending to this… just as you think things are coming together ….
This book really held my interest. I enjoyed every moment.
This is a must read!
Loved it
A book not easy to put down . Well reasearched and written with feeling. The emotions of the characters are realistic.
DO NOT see the movie version after reading the book. They changed the entire focus and ending. The book was one of my favorite Picoult books.
Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I love her writing approach. In this book, she tends to take you through each character’s perspective of the storyline. You get to step in each of their shoes for a while and understand why they feel and act the way they do. It tends to develop empathy for each of them. As a reader, we usually get one or …
Here’s what you have to look forward to in reading My Sister’s Keeper : Heart wrenching sorrow, a stellar cast of characters, the perfectly informed writing style of Jodi Picoult, and just the right amount of sarcasm. Anna will challenge your every belief, Kate will have you examining the value of your own life, Jesse will cause you to grimace …
You will not want to put this one down! Jodi Picoult has a unique way of letting you see a story from all points of view. Make sure you have a box of tissues available for this one – I haven’t cried this hard in a long time!
Absolutely heartbreaking read, highly recommend this book!
Loved the book. The movie was a disappointment.
Beautifully written.
Great book
It’s been several years since I read this but I thought it was excellent. The movie did not do the book justice, glad I had read the book first. First Jody Picoult book I’d read, made me a fan, she certainly delves into interesting dilemmas.
I really like her books, but this got to be the point where I was waiting for the twist, and it started to feel manipulative, so I couldn’t fully engage. But it’s a great book.
