New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.
Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and … transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate — a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister — and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.
My Sister’s Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life, even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less? Should you follow your own heart, or let others lead you? Once again, in My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult tackles a controversial real-life subject with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity.

Book is WAY BETTER than the movie! Not even close! Book you don’t want to put down!
This story will haunt you long after you’ve read it
Thought Provoking
I like reading Jodi Piccoult’s books, because it seems she chooses subjects which have a moral question in the middle of the theme, whatever it might be, from prison reality to medical ethics, as in this book. A child is conceived in order to save her sister’s life–what a gamble that is! This new world of embryonic cells, and …
Any book written by Jodi Picoult is a great read. Well researched. Current topic.
All of her books are unpredictable and concern issues of the day. I feel like she covers every characters point of view.
One of her best books.
Terrific and touching story with unexpected twists.
It was a good book and kept me interested, but just as always the case with Jodi’s books, there’s no happy ending.
Good book until the ending. Predictable and not very realistic.
This book was an emotional roller coaster I would suggest this book to people that like books full of emotion
This was a book club choice. I read it and was angry and grateful at the same time. Should we get angry if someone refuses to give up their valuable organs to save another? I found myself torn with this question all through the book. Were the parents selfish or was the sister selfish? Dilemma toyed with my heart from the beginning of the book to …
Such a good book. Another really sad book though. I cried a lot with this one. But it was so we’ll thought out. Jodi Picolt is one of my favorite authors. She really gets the reader inside the characters heads. You feel like you understand how they feel and what they think.
One of Jodi Picoult’s best!
Impossible to forget even years after reading it. And the film likewise!
Omg. I’ve never cried so much with a book like this. this was an amazing story. Kate and Anna had a great bond as sisters but the whole just needed to listen each other to really be more if a family. sad and compelling.
This is a must read
A great story, it was sad but I could not put it down!
I have loved almost all of the books from Jodie. She writes about subjects that are a little out of the ordinary and are thought provoking. This was no different, The characters are well developed and are not always loveable. I enjoyed this book very much and it caused me to think what would I do in this family’s situation. A good read for …
It is everything a book should be and more.
The moral issues are difficult to accept yet plausible to understand.
