New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.
Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and … transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate — a life and a role that she has never challenged…until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister — and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable, a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves.
My Sister’s Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child’s life, even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less? Should you follow your own heart, or let others lead you? Once again, in My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult tackles a controversial real-life subject with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity.

I spent Christmas day switching off reading this out-loud with my mother because we couldn’t put it down. I love Jodi Picoult’s way of choosing controversial topics and pitting realistic voices on each side of the debate against each other.
I would choose this book over the movie any day of the week. Total tear jerker!!
I loved it. A can’t put-it-down kind of book, that you cry while you’re reading it, and the ending was and “Oh, no!” So that you have to put the book down in your lap to let the events sink in before you can pick it back up again. Because you have to pick it back up again.
I think Jodi Picoult writes in a way that not only tells a story, but shows people how distressing real life can be, and how unfair life can be to some people. I read all of her books and think she writes extraordinary stories.
Huge fan of this author! This story was tragic. Could not put it down. Mind blowing ending! Very different from the movie version.
I loved, loved, loved this book….
“5 out of 5 stars! Written from the point-of-view of everyone involved with this case made me love the book even more. For anyone who would like to read a story about the love family’s can share. It was touching … moving … made me cry like a baby … and I would definitely read it again!”

I read this a while ago, but still remember the emotion it engendered. I’ve kept it on my shelf for lending out. The ending disappointed me, though. The final tragedy seemed more manufactured than necessary.
Beautiful story. Well written. This book pulled me in and did not let go until the end. I loved reading this book.
This is an incredible book. I love reading Jodi Picault’s stories. Very good characterization. Terrific storylines. I highly recommend this one.
Do yourself a favor and don’t watch the movie – read the book. The book ending is drastically different than the movie and a billion times better. I’m not one to spoil the drama, but I will tell you, this is the first book that ever made me cry like someone just ran over my dog. If you are looking for a good old fashioned sob-fest, look no further.
Read this many years ago and it still haunts me. On of Miss Picoult’s best! Hated the movie because they changed the ending -ruining the whole story.
I like surprise endings and this one really filled the bill. One of her best.
One of, if not the most unforgettable book I have ever read.
One of my favorite books, it has been decades since I read it and yet I still remember every word of it. Wonderful writer, a very brave writer who has no problem with touchy subject and belief and has a way of making the read see both sides of a problem.
Jodi Picoult knows how to pull topics out of the headlines and make them meaningful in her books. I really liked this book and later the film because of the rich characters and the immediate tension she established in the book.
Wow wow wow. This one played with my emotions a lot. An extraordinary family saga whereby it appears that all the attention is given to only one of the three teenagers living in the household because she had been diagnosed with leukemia when she was two years old.
Even as a mother, I cannot tell you how many times I felt anger towards the mother …
MY SISTER’S KEEPER, her eleventh novel, is the work that made Jodi Picoult famous. Jodi Picoult uses the formula that has worked so well in many other novels – American family in small-town America, with at least one very accomplished parent, highly-intelligent kids who ask lots of questions, a contemporary issue that is currently gripping the …
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this book. It was the first book I read by the author and I’ve been reading her books ever since.
Blubbed like a baby, so be warned!
