I’ve read other books by Netta Newbound, but I have to admit none that gripped me like this one. Once I started, I simply couldn’t put it down.
Struggling with the grief of losing her husband, Susanna spends several months at their villa in Spain, but returns home to find her sister and her sister’s family have been murdered. The only survivor her niece, Diana, a troubled teenager. Susanna and Diana form a close bond, but the killer isn’t finished. Can Susanna protect her niece, or is she destined to become the next victim?
Highly recommended to mystery/crime lovers.
This is my first time reading one of Netta’s books and I am so glad that I did. This Thriller is one wild roller coaster ride with one twist and turn after another. The suspense and angst had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this fantastic thriller!
Three months after Susanna loses her husband she receives a visit from local Manchester police to notify her that her sister and brother-in-law were murdered. Knowing that her niece, Diane, will need her she instantly packs a bag and leaves to be by her nieces side.
Susanna has no idea how much her life would change or what struggles and truths she would come to face following her sister’s death. After facing one battle after another from the murderer, Susanna doesn’t know how to deal with the truth when she comes face to face with it
I highly recommend this page turning Thriller!!
I think I am still in shock with this book. I never saw the end coming. It starts with a tragedy. Diane and Susanne try to find a way to move onward and forward, but more events occur that cause them to take off to Spain. I wish I could say that was the end and they live happily ever after, but that is not the case. I have to say I never figured out who was behind all the tragedy. I was completely enthralled with this story and would recommend to any Thriller – Mystery reader. Fabulous book.

“You think this is cruel and heartless? You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Wow! What an amazing thriller!! So many times during this book I kept thinking I knew who the killer was, then I was thrown in to doubting myself, time and time again!! Brilliant writing kept me guessing until the end!! Little indicators would lead me toward one character, then another, then yet another. Loved it!!
Susanna Carmichael has been through hell. Recently widowed and left confused as to what lead to her husband’s death, she takes refuge in their villa in Spain. But, she can’t stay forever. She needs to go home, only when she does, she is faced with even more tragedy – the murder of her sister and brother-in-law. The only surviving member of her family now is her niece, Diane. The police think it was a bungled robbery. But, the odd behavior of Diane’s Uncle Robert, shady business dealings uncovered, and Diane adamant that the killer has his sights set on coming back for her, make Susanna think there’s more to this than they first believed.
Is Diane the target after all? Can Susanna keep her safe when they don’t know who lurks in the shadows? Will Detective Conrad Jenkins be able to piece this all together in time to save them all?
I love a great thriller! Love the twist and turns, the subtle clues that lead you in one direction, only to have the author lead you in another, then another, until the ending absolutely floors you! This book is all of that and more!! I would highly recommend it !!
